527 Julia St, New Orleans, USA
located just 2 quick blocks from my hotel, the concierge found this for me (did not come up at HappyCow under a vegan/vegetarian only filter search). Do not miss this place when in New Orleans. Warm and inviting space, friendly and helpful staff and VERY accommodating with special requests. Vegan options. The Rico was incredible. great balance of flavors, color and textures. A feast for both the eyes and palate. Will gladly go to again.

Food good, space-not so much
Located inside a smokey and noisy dive bar,the St Roch Tavern. Dirty, large cockroach on floor. Almost walked out as I was grossed out. Menu inside a clear plastic sleeve, food served on styrofoam plate. But owner was kind and sincere, and I wanted to look past "the cover". Food was good, ordered the vegan Jambalaya, and he gave me a complimentary kale slaw that was superb. Portions good, and excellent value. Carrot cake for dessert was not too bad (after Sweet Life in Eugene, nothing comes close). Smoke from bar was overwhelming and the live music so loud could not hear myself think.
Food and staff - 3 stars. Ambiance and space - 0 stars.

Clean and friendly
Store was well organized, clean and bright. Good selection, also had a very nice supplement/beauty nook. Staff and patrons alike very friendly. Not as many veg/vegan options on lunch buffet as one would expect at a health food store. Chicken, fish, cream soup w bacon??
Prices were higher than I am accustomed to paying, but being outside continental US may definitely have to be taken into account.
Parking lot is one way and no good signage to indicate how to best enter. Advice when approaching along 4th from Main, go past store, turn Left at next block, turn in BEHIND building.

Great service, decent fare
Super fast service, friendly. Food was decent-the green beans were overcooked, but otherwise the veggie combo plate was well seasoned and a more than ample serving for one. Reasonably priced.

While spendy, the food is amazing. No hummus wraps, veggie burgers, or other common vegan fare, thank goodness. True gourmet, inventive, eye catching and delectable plates. My omnivore friend was astounded by the grilled seitan. Waitstaff friendly and brought us an extra appetizer, sips of chilled soup and Uber bites compliments of the kitchen. Even scored a cookbook they had chef sign for me! Wish and hope to come back one day. You deserve to treat yourself!
