Highly Recommended

My family stayed here in August of 2011 and left feeling very impressed. The owners (and their dogs!) were friendly and the rates were fair. Our room was bright, spacious, and clean. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast spread was wonderful (a large selection, which included fresh breads, juices, and fruit every day).

We also found that the location of the B&B worked out very well for our holidays. From the Hastings train station (within walking distance of the B&B), we were able to take easy day-trips to destinations which included Brighton and Dover.

This B&B is one that we highly recommend and one to which we look forward to returning.

Good Breakfast

We ate breakfast here and thought that our wraps were competent tofu-scramble affairs. This is not a vegan restaurant but we appreciated the clearly-marked vegan options on the menu.

Mmmmm . . . Wonderful itroduction to Manhattan

Our first dinner in Manhattan was at the Blossom Cafe and it was delicious. Our daughter loved the pesto ravioli and I liked the pepper seitan. This restaurant also serves vegan beer!

Excellent Restaurant

I have been a vegan for 25 years and consider myself something of a vegan tourist. To date, this is the best vegan restaurant I have visited. The appetizers and entrees were excellent. The service was friendly. Vegan beer and wine is on offer. I highly recommend Candle 79. This restaurant serves cannoli!

Good but beware the hours of operation

We loved the soft-serve ice cream (especially the cake-batter vanilla). But be aware of the limited hours of operation. We arrived on a very hot afternnon after 12:00 only to find out that the apothecary does not open until 3:00 p.m.! The late opening-time seemed inexplicable for an ice cream parlour and was very disappointing, on a hot day, especially for our daughter (fortunately, there was a pub around the corner, which helped to pass the time).

Best restaurant in Ithaca

Easily the best restaurant in Ithaca. We love the nachos veganos. The menu has changed from year-to-year, which shows that the chefs are interested in trying new recipes and treating their clientelle to different tastes.

Not a sit-down restaurant

A very good take-out restaurant with many unique and delicious sandwiches. The staff was friendly. We loved the cupcakes!

OKay breakfast shop

We enjoyed our "che" breakfasts at Java Green but the server seemed not to be very interested in us or the job that they were doing. It is not easy to criticize a vegan establshment (we need all that we can get), but surely there are friendly vegans who are interested in working these places?

Perhaps this was just a bad day

The service left very, very much to be desired. The food was not fresh. We were not told in advance of ordering muffins that they were raw.

Enjoyed breakfasts

Small, environmentally-responsible restaurant. We enjoyed eating vegan breakfasts here while on vacation. Not a large selection of vegan options.

Some vegan sandwiches

Due to the proximity to Farm Sanctuary, there is vegan food available, including very good sandwiches. There is also vegan pastry served here!

Friendly Staff

A "deli" attached to a small health-food store. The area feels a little dodgy but once inside we were treated to friendly service and vegan food made to order.

Wish there were more vegan options

Thankfully, there is a vegetarian menu, but this is a primarily non-vegetarian restaurant. We loved the sweet and sour tofu and the garlic broccoli!

Deli needs more vegan selections

There is not a lot of choice for vegans in Clearwater. This mid-sized health-food store is wonderful, but we wish that the deli could have had even more vegan selections than are currently available.

Rating: B

We enjoyed the food at Peacefood, but it did not rate an "A" all things considered. We were not impressed that the entrees were not served simultaneously -- I was almost finished my dinner by the time that my spouse's was served. This restaurant does not have a licence, apparently, to serve alcoholic beverages.

Accidentally vegetarian?

We advised the proprietor that we had found her restaurant on HappyCow and she did not know what we were talking about. She was nevertheless friendly, and prepared for us humous wraps for lunch. There were many muffins available, but none was vegan.

Wonderful Place

We attended Sticky Fingers for breakfast and two lunches. The food was scrumptious. We were impressed by the variety of sandwiches available. Given that this was a bakery, we were surprised that no pies were on offer. The staff could have been friendlier.

This is just a sandwich bar

We appreciate the commitment to veganism and animal rights of the people who run this restaurant. We liked the pancakes and sanwiches. But patrons should know that there are no dinner entrees here. This is a good breakfast and lunch eatery. They also offer interesting shakes, but regrettably nothing except for chocolate shakes were available when we attended.
