Good lucnh time food

24 Jun 2011

This place was cafeteria style, I wouldn't say it was particularly indian food. I had scrambled tofu and potatoes in really nice spices and some sort of grain ball which was really delicious. Prices were good. The staff didn't speak much english so was quite difficult to determine what any thing was but it was labelled if it was vegan or not. I also had a vegan take out cake which was really good too.

Awsome!

10 Mar 2009

This place was really easy to find, the food was awsome had an English menu, though the waiter didn't speak much english we still managed to get it all across. Vegan options clearly marked. I was there with my boyfriend who is a massive meat eater and he loved his spagetti bolagnase. The patas bravas were lovely and spicy. had seiten and brown rice which I thought might be a bit bland but it was delicous. I reckon this is my fav veg place!

Healthy

22 Sep 2009

I was a bit confused when I got there the board had so much on it took ages to figure out what was vegan, I went for the miso soup which to be honest wasn't very nice. The salads look good, my boyf (meateater) had lentil soup which again wasn't that tasty. I also had a mixed berry crumble which was really nice. This is a place for healthy eaters raw foods etc, I like veg but I also like a good old veggie shepherds pie or sausage sarnie so maybe a bit too healthy for me. It was expensive but only as most places in Dublin that's city centres for you. Ethics great

vegan fish and chips!

09 Nov 2011

Went here last night before a gig. Had vegan fish and chips which were awsome my fella had spinach burgar which he really liked also. Had a chocolate bun which I didnt think was that great but flapjack good. Only let downs were toilet not very nice (I do like a nice toilet tho haha) and though it was a tiny bit over priced but cant really complain as they are catering for a small market and the girl did give us a free cake and the menu we were given looked like the daytime cafe menu rather than the evening menu which is on the website. Def worth going for vegan fish and chips tho! Overall awsome

Happened upon this place today after a trip to Dalby Forest. The lady serving was lovely really good choice of vegan food including vegan cakes which were lovely much better than most. Myself and omnivore partner had bean burger home made loveliness he really enjoyed it to and as said cake amazing. Def the only place I'll eat in Scarborough in future (not that I visit often). Prices good too. Good atmosphese.

small but good

18 Sep 2010

I've used this health food shop most of my life living in Saltburn, it does sell good range nuts/pulses but in the last year or 2 the freexer and fridge stock has reduced and they concentrate on vitamins/herbal remadies. I think this is purely due to demand and they will order in anything you ask for and still does vegan staples like soya cheese, vegan mince/chicken pieces and vegan bacon and more recently frozen vegan ready meals which I haven't tried as I tend to cook. Quite a lot more choice for veggies. Very friendly and helpful staff. Have some vegan toiletries

very greasy

15 Sep 2010

I ordered soya steak and chips which I knew wasn't exactly a heathy meal but when it arrived it was dripping in fat, afterwards that evening I had a poorly stomach. My m um ate a soya goulash which was ok fairly tatseless but not greasy. Maybe it was my choice but looking at what other people were eating it did look fast foodish which I would normally be happy with but this made me ill.

fantastic cheap food

20 Apr 2011

Me and my meat eating boyfriend both love this place we live locally and go for lunch regularly. In Middlesbrough choice of vegan food is pretty limited and this place is really accomodating they have lists up behind the counter for the staff who might not know what is and what isn't vegan and gluten free. You can see them cooking so know its all kept seperate etc. Lunch is simple vegetarian curry which is always vegan with dosa, rice or nan and a drink for £3.99 get the dosa they yum! On an evening they have 3 veggie curries which are usually all vegan but always have at least one vegan (and 3 meat) then you can choose accompniments such as dosas idils etc which are nearly all vegan with 1-3 curries. I suppose menu a little complicated but just ask and the tatse is so worth it. The 3 curries are south indian and change daily so not your usually curry house stuff things like fry's and manchurians. Flavours are excellent and you can even buy spice powders already made up. It's a totaly haven in a very limted Teesside and my meat eater boyf absolutely loves it too.

Fantastic

THIS PLACE HAS MOVED. It is now just outside the old town, ring for address coz I cant remeber. The food is fantastic so delicious and authentic, we went for evening meal my partner had the buffet which he loved (meat and veg), but I decided against it as the veg dishes looked quite creamy. I had cauliflower manchurian which was one of the best indian dishes I've ever had (and Im a big curry lover). Definately worth finding. The waiters were also really nice and friendly it was all a reasonable price.

Great menu

10 Mar 2009

as mentioned by others little hard to find but worth it. Food really nice and loads of veggie, vegan and few meat options. Labelling great and menu is so varied will suit the health sort of person or like me if your happy with fried food. I had lentil stew which nice bit stodgy as was my boyfriend veg soup but v healthy, I also had veggies chicken nuggets not so healthy but tasted good. Having meat on menu good if you're travelling with meat eater keeps everyone happy

great choice

23 Jun 2010

Visited here this evening they had the usual vegetable dishes as well as mock chicken, duck or abalone for only 50p more than the vegetable dishes. Even though I've tried mock chicken and duck before i didn't opt for the abalone because I just couldn't imagine it working. The mock meat wasn't on the menu in the window just inside. I had chilli black bean mock duck and it was fantastic, throughly enjoyed it, my partner enjoyed his meat dish too so everyone was happy. The only critisim I can think of is that the veg spring rolls were a bit greasy, plus I didn't meed a started as main meal was large portion.

Authentic

11 Mar 2010

Having travelled Japan for a month a few years ago I met a friend who is not vegan but did live in Japan for 4 years here. It is very authentic I had the tofu set which was delicious and kimchi was awsome. If you like Japaneese food this is the place for you. It was quite expensive at £20 for lunch for 2 but it is London so probably not that bad really. Wouldn't say the staff were friendly or unfriendly. Anyway I loved it

fantastic treat

17 Oct 2010

visited here with 4 non veggies we all enjoyed it amazing choice it took forever for us to decide and it was amazing as a vegan to be able to try evryone elses food. The crispy shredded chicken started was by fat the best. The mock prawns were a bit tatseless but good to try the fish steak was quite an overpowering fish taste which I wasn't keen on the mock duck was also a biut slimy for me but the sizzling hot sauces were soo good my kung po was too sweet for me but thats personal taste. The choice is amazig all my non veggie lot loved it. Only downfall really was no alcohol and you can't take your own. Felt a little greasy afterwards but I fi9nd that pretty common in Chineese food. Will def visit again

Great vegan chineese

24 Jun 2011

I have visited the london one before, this is great chineese food, the mock duck is especially nice. The portions are really large we got a starter and I couldn't finish my main. Only down part is its alcohol free

Best Lovin Hut!

03 Dec 2012

Went here when we dropped our campervan off round the corner. As a tourist the location isn't great but everything else makes up for it. We went lates in the days so a few things had sold out but had lasagne which was awsome but even more so was the chocolate icecream cake!!! My partner loved it too and he's a full on carnivore dairy loving type. The lady that runs it also gave us a sample of their in house made icecream which was also amazing. I really wanted to go back here and to their restuarnt as the food was so good but we just didn't have time. Staff lovely too. If lived in Oz I'd be here all the time yum!

nice atmosphere

24 Jun 2011

The menu here looked great but we couldnt get in a lunch so had to reserve a table for the evening. There was a goood choice but the portions are small and it isnt cheap (though normal prices for a city centre). My starter of sausage and caramalised onions in balsamic was delicious, my partners soup however was distinctly average. I had a papaya salad main which was good but not enough dressing. I think if you choose the right things on the menu this place is great. The hemp beer was nice too. The staff were ok it was definetley an nice place to sit but as its so busy you do feel a bit like the staff are wanting you to leave as soon as you've eaten. I would reccomend it but choose food wisely.
