407 San Francisco Street, Old San Juan, San Juan, Puerto Rico

just okay

The vegetarian choices are limited primarily to tofu based dishes. Unfortunately there are not a great deal of options in the area. A bit pricey for what you get but that is generally true for the area. Service was good - not very busy when we were in.

Vegetarians Visiting Prague Rejoice!

05 Jan 2012

My family and I were worried about finding good vegetarian food while vacationing in Prague. Due to the great reviews of this restaurant by Happy Cow readers, we tried Clear Head. The food was so good and such a great value the first night, we came back the next night. The food, decor, and service were all exceptional. Highly recommended!

Update November 2011 - Had the great fortune of having several meals at Clear Head again. Have been to many vegetarian places in the U.S. (e.g., Millennium, Chicago Diner, Candle 79, Sublime) and in Europe (I need to do a better job of submitting reviews -sorry!) and this place has clearly solidified a spot in my top 10. Truly wonderful.

Absolutely Wonderful!

08 Aug 2011

In May we attended the cooking class followed by gourmet meal. It all made for a very memorable evening in Paris. As mentioned by other reviewers, this is not a restaurant per se. It is a meal served in an apt/B&B. Meals are served in a separate dining room off from the kitchen. There is one dining table and you are joined by other diners.

The hosts were outstanding and extremely knowledgeable. I greatly admire this family for what they are doing to promote veganism in Paris. Oh, and the food...it was incredible. There was plenty of it along with great wine. The hosts are quite accommodating of individual needs and preferences too. The only potential downside is that there is the potential for dinner companions whose company you may enjoy less than others. However, this is BY FAR the best vegan meal you will experience in Paris. We would gladly return and hopefully stay at the B&B next time we are in Paris.

Visited twice during a stay in Richmond. Had the tempeh rueben and the tempeh, lettuce, tomato sub. Both were great. Soups also wonderful. Very laid back and relaxed atmosphere.

A Tampa Gem

I'm a regular at Kaleisia and the service is always quick and friendly. The menu is small, but every item is tasty, fresh, and purely vegan or vegetarian. Of course the tea, smoothies (try the boba!) all rule!

Not Good

Maybe I should have tried the burrito. Instead I opted for the steamed veggies, rice and beans bowl. The taste was "off." The rice was over cooked and the veggies did not taste fresh. The two guys behind the counter were disinterested.

Love the Laughing Seed

20 Jul 2008

We first enjoyed the Laughing Seed about 10 years ago when staying in Asheville. This was our first time back to the area and we were looking forward to eating there again. It did not disappoint!!! Between the three of us across two nights, we had six different dishes that spanned raw, vegan, and vegetarian, and each one was excellent. The outdoor dining is relaxed and comfortable. No complaints regarding the service.

Just okay

Of the three vegetarian/vegan places we tried in Paris, this was the least memorable. The location is good when visiting the Latin Quarter. We arrived as the restaurant was opening so there were no crowds. Service was good. I rate the food as average based on the lack of sophisticated flavoring and mushy textures. The menu seems "tired" and lacks inspiration. Not bad, just not great.

Enjoyable Food

My husband and I enjoyed our meal here. It was not among the best vegan dining experiences either of us have had, but the food and the service was good. We left happy and full.

Zen and Tasty

Had to try Maitrea given our love of it's sister restaurant, Clear Head. We were seated downstairs, which is visually beautiful. Everything is artfully done. There were some hits with the food; the Thai salad was outstanding. The entrees overall were good but did not rise to the level of great. Service was borderline surly.

Better than sausage

05 Jan 2012

Husband and I visited in November. After a long day of travel we were famished and happy to find a vegetarian place for our first night in Munich. The restaurant itself is nice and service was good. Spouse had the tofu stroganoff, which the waiter suggested was a "signature dish." I am not a fan of big slabs of tofu, but he enjoyed it and I thought the sauce was very tasty. I made the mistake however of ordering crepes al forno (I will blame on fatigue). It was dripping in cheese and sauce and I could barely eat it. If you don't mind high (really high) fat dishes, it was probably okay. I would return, but would definitely try other items on the menu.

Vegetarians who want options other than mock meat will appreciate Kush. There are only four tables, but the place is clean and inviting. Made two visits and we tried multiple dishes. Dip trio is a nice starter, especially if you have been longing for hummus. Garden salad was fresh and light. Arabian and roasted veggie wrap were both tasty. Loved the lentil burger. The bun is a bit too thick, but it was great to have something whole grain. Mediterranean pasta had wonderful flavor. Only dish that was a disappointment was the roasted pumpkin salad, which was far too salty. English menu (can be viewed online) and friendly staff.

Tried Rosetta's once during recent vacation in Asheville. Our dishes were delicious. I've been a vegetarian for so long I don't remember what a "real" Rueben tastes like, but this version was darn good. Spouse had the beer battered tempeh "wings" - great flavor. Vegan queso made me forget my weakness for cheese. Very comfortable place - not upscale. You order at the register and then a server brings your food to you.

Fun(ky) and Tasty

Enjoyed my visit to The Grit. Had the Deluxe Quesadilla with crunchy veggies and cheese. Warning, the portion size is huge. As much as I wanted to, I could not finish it. Two people could probably share. The menu is large and varied, with something sure to please most veggies and nonveggies alike.

The Third Place Cafe offers some refuge in a city that is disappointing in terms of its vegetarian/vegan offerings. Food is good and reasonably priced. The vibe is relaxed. Ate there a few times during visit to the area. Can be tough to find a seat.

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Vegelangelo in November. The restaurant is small and very well done. It is an interesting place in that it seems to be a true one woman show. The owner does it all. The food was fresh and superbly prepared. Reservations are a must. Although there were tables open, we saw guests turned away who did not have a reservation. Plenty of vegan options. The bathroom must be visited!
