One of my favorites!
One of my favorite nearby Portland vegan places, owned by my friends who operate the Off The Griddle cart nearby. Extremely creative menu (Jackfruit Tacos!! So good) that changes frequently. Awesome brunch food. What more can I say? Ya'll rock.

Cool "health nut"' joint!
This is a neat little spot, and apparently doing quite well, as it was pretty darn packed when we visited. We had lunch here one day and had some great food and smoothies. We got a raw "ravioli" with pesto, nut based, cheese filling which was fantastic, as well as a raw "pizza". The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome but my 2 quips would be 1) portions are way too small for the price and 2) WHY is there honey in soooo many things here? I mean, the place is basically 100% vegan but these guys put honey on the acai bowls, the salad dressing, the deserts, and some of the smoothies. They are willing to hold the honey, but still.... I guess it's one of those things about "Health oriented" plant based restaurants vs. vegan restaurants.. Or maybe it's just A Hawaii thing. I don't know, but I do know that honey could be ditched from every single thing here and it would still be awesome! Here's hoping to that in the future! Mahalo!

Vegan options at a meat heavy joint!
These guys specialize in burgers and have a lot of meat, but when it comes to looking out for Vegans, they really go out of their way compared to many other places. All the sides are vegan, they have a vegan shake, and the couple of burger options are really good. The Portobello burger is fantastic. Well worth it if you are in the area and have already gone to Sweat Hereafter and looking for something else, or if you are with Vegetarian/Omnivore friends/family!

A vegan food cart at a coast town!!? sign me up!
Most Oregon coast towns are weak sauce when it comes to vegan options, but here DJ has gone and changed that up and opened a cart that is all vegan! They serve up standard comfort food stuff and it's all great. I had the philly cheesteak and my wife had the Mac attack and they were both awesome. The food came out quickly too. We will be back!!

Solid option if in the Kaanapali area!
This is a sweet brewpub and home to the best Maui-made beers, and they also have some great vegan options! 2 entrees are vegan (coconut tofu curry and vegan burger) and they are good! Also, some of the pick-an-choose sides are vegan according to the menu, but we did not try any of these. Our server was super nice and friendly and all the beers (all vegan as well unless otherwise noted) were fantastic. The facade is very unassuming (tiny door in a bleak strip mall), but once you get inside you will be greeted by an expansive space with a real "chalkboard on the wall" brew pub feel!

nice little spot for breakfast or lunch
This place is connected to the commodore hotel, so if you are staying there it is super convenient. They have clearly marked vegan options that, while limited, are pretty good.

Awesome vegan baked goods and lunch!
I love this place. Great spot to grab a bagel in the morning (why is it so damn hard for people to carry Earth Balance in addition to butter and cream cheese anyway!!?).. Also the lunch menu is pretty awesome. Try the French Dip with vegan mozz added. Pretty outrageously good. Also right next door is the most excellent Herbivore clothing store and Food Fight! Vegan Grocery.

Great little gold mine in Lahaina!
Thai is always a great go-to in areas without a ton of vegan options, but it's extra nice when they are very vegan friendly! That is the case with Thai Chef, as they have a 20+ items on their "vegetable lovers" menu which are all vegan. The employees are super nice and friendly and knowledgeable. I asked about what items could be easily made vegan and was told that all the vegetarian menu items were vegan and had no fish sauce, oyster Sauce, chicken stock, or otherwise. My only quip would be that the portions are not huge for the price, but that could just be an island thing.. A lot of things seem to be expensive in Hawaii. Anyway, I give a BIG recommendation to Thai Chef. We went two nights in a row and had some fantastic dinners while staying up the road in Kaanapali. Mahalo!!

cool little place!
We were able to sit outside (thank goodness because it was about 100 degrees inside the place!!) and ordered a vegan chefs mercy for 2. The chef made us some nice brocolli and cauliflower tacos with black beans and rice. The food was pretty darn good and was quite spivey. Kind of a crazy little spot, but I'd go back for sure because a decent vegan meal is kind of a rarity in coast towns.
Astoria is coming up in the vegan world, but it's got a long way to go. For now, Columbian cafe is a solid option! Just be sure to go when you aren't in a rush.. They can be slow.
