Watch for Honey/Bee Pollen if that’s not your jam - Edit

Visited February 2018 and ordered the special (a walnut meatball dish), and a smoothie. Both were good. Some items have honey and/or bee pollen in them, so if you are vegan, watch out for that.

Cons: They consider honey to be vegan

Great flavor, small portions - Edit

There's plenty to love on the menu at Choice Health Bar — and that's a good thing, since you might need more than one item to fill up if you arrive with an appetite, as portions are on the small side. I had the raw pizza (which was surprisingly tiny, even by raw-food restaurant standards) but tasty. Still hungry, I followed it up with a smoothie and a dessert. Service was friendly. Prices feel a little on the high side considering the unusually small portions, but the quality is good. Enjoy!

5 stars - Edit

Amazing selection of savoury and sweet food. We ordered the gourmet plate and other plate which meant we got to sample lots of different dishes.
A must in Maui.

Cons: ordering is slow - don't go if you're in a rush , environment - use of disposable plates etc

great acai bowls - Edit

We loved our acai bowls. Sadly the granola on the bowls had honey. You could substitute gf granola for $2 or vegan/gf homemade granola for $3. I added the homemade granola, which was expensive but it was really good! The acai bowls were a good size and filled us up. Wish we went more than once to try other menu items

Pros: good size, flavorful

Cons: expensive granola add ons, expensive

Would be five stars if it weren’t for the bee products. - Edit

Delicious fresh cafe. But if you have a big appetite and a small budget, watch out... It’ll get expensive quick.

Gem in Maui - Edit

Wow! Really delicious food made with love. We ate the zucchini noodles alfredo. Yummy! The flavors were perfectly blended with mushrooms, just the right amount of garlic and a macadamia creamy alfredo sauce. The dish came with tasty quinoa & salad. It even included a delectable desert all for $14. The place was jumping and the staff were really friendly. We will return during our stay in Maui.

Pros: consciousness, deliciousness, good price for great portions

Mostly excellent + reef safe sunscreen - Edit

We visited this place twice and had an assortment of vegan meals, treats, and drinks. Most things were excellent:

Ulu Breadfruit soup with quinoa + greens (great)
Acai bowl (average)
Coconut chia pudding (excellent)
Cacao peanut butter krispie bar thing (excellent)
Ginger Pineapple kombucha (excellent)
Pineapple Mint kombucha (excellent)

This place also sells a variety of reef safe sunscreen -- we used Mama Kuleana for our entire stay. It was fantastic and effective for our entire stay across a variety of activities.

This place gets very busy and the staff seems to get a little rushed and flustered. Didn't affect our meals much, but it did seem unusual relative to almost every other place we visited on our stay.

Pros: Great desserts, Reef safe sunscreen

Cons: Rushed staff

Great lunch - Edit

Stopped by here for lunch while driving around the area. Had the gourmet plate where I got a kale salad, an entree, and a small bite-sized dessert. A bit spendy at $17 but everything was delicious and healthy. Just wish I had got to try more stuff.

Pros: healthy

Light and healthy meal - Edit

I had a mixed plate and the food was good and not overly filling, so suitable for the weather. All dishes are with Kale, all bows with acai, but I came only a couple times, so the variety is sufficient. Great Kombucha. Packed even at 3pm.

Pros: Light and healthy

Good for Vegans - Edit

Saw this place on happycow and ate here some years ago; was just here again this week. Here's my Choice health bar on Maui review.

It's a busy place at meal time. The food options are healthy and all plant-based including raw food. Uses honey & pollen in some things. We've tried the healthy platter, epic platter, acai bowl with fresh fruit, smoothie. Overall light and healthy.

Hidden gem - Edit

Hidden away between the Kaanapali resorts and Lahaina, but so good we went back multiple times! Acai bowls were so good. Note that they do use honey, but will sub out maple syrup. You also have to ask for the gluten free granola - the first time we went here no one told us that the regular granola had honey. They do charge extra for the gluten free as well. Dessert sunrise was our favourite!

Pros: Healthy options , Lots of parking , Grab and go food available

Cons: Expensive, Didn't tell me regular granola had honey the f

Cool "health nut"' joint! - Edit

This is a neat little spot, and apparently doing quite well, as it was pretty darn packed when we visited. We had lunch here one day and had some great food and smoothies. We got a raw "ravioli" with pesto, nut based, cheese filling which was fantastic, as well as a raw "pizza". The food was great and the atmosphere was awesome but my 2 quips would be 1) portions are way too small for the price and 2) WHY is there honey in soooo many things here? I mean, the place is basically 100% vegan but these guys put honey on the acai bowls, the salad dressing, the deserts, and some of the smoothies. They are willing to hold the honey, but still.... I guess it's one of those things about "Health oriented" plant based restaurants vs. vegan restaurants.. Or maybe it's just A Hawaii thing. I don't know, but I do know that honey could be ditched from every single thing here and it would still be awesome! Here's hoping to that in the future! Mahalo!

Pros: awesome smoothies and great raw food, Vegan soups and entrees

Cons: Honey all other the place

delicious vegan food and sweets - Edit

I came here after being deprived of vegan options at my resort for two days. I was in heaven! The vegan sushi is amazing and so were the cupcakes and brownie. Lots of raw vegan options and delicious vegan sushi! A must stop!

Pros: raw vegan options, vegan desserts , fresh green juice

Cons: the juice is pricey $9

Very tasty food! - Edit

We drove 25 miles to get to this location for Garden Sushi and we are not disappointed! Friendly service, ambient atmosphere, and most importantly, excellent vegan food! Strongly recommend the Dumpling, Truffle Mushroom Miso Soup and Sushi Sampler. Be prepared to pay $$ for the tasty food. Everything taste very fresh and a variety of veggies used in the dishes. Will definitely come back when we come to Maui again!

Pros: Great vegan food, friendly owners and service , beautiful food decoration

Cons: Portion on the smaller side - typical Japanese sty, expensive

ONLY recommendation for West Maui! - Edit

This place is the only acceptable organic, vegan, superfood eatery on West Maui. If you are truly looking for fresh, quality food, it is the only place I personally recommend.

Pros: They will accommodate any request

Cons: Price, organic food on Maui is expensive, They close at 4 :(

Great!!!! - Edit

Definitely check this place out. The acai bowls are amazing. We came back three times for more acai bowls while we were here - they were super healthy and super tasty. They have other vegan dishes (smoothies, soups, grain dishes) but we never tried them because we liked the acai bowls so much.

Choice Health Bar - Edit

I love Choice Health Bar!!! I moved from Wailea to Ka'anapali during my trip and was incredibly delighted to find Choice, and I've eaten there every day since. The menu changes daily but they always seem to have a kale salad, grains, and soup. The first day I got the lunch place and was able to try almost all of the lunch items which consisted of kale, quinoa, soup, and a raw dessert, YUM. Since then I've simply ordered kale and soup - my favorite soup is the split pea, although the pumpkin and celery soups are also tasty. Definitely go to Choice when you're in the area!

Great find - Edit

I was worried about eating vegan will in Maui, but thankfully I discovered this place. The plate lunch, with soup, salad and grain was so delicious, I had it two days in a row! I can't decide which soup I loved more -- the purple potato curry or the French green lentil. And the kale salads, with slightly different ingredients and dressings, were both divine. My favorite, however, may have been the amazing coconut garlic quinoa, which doesn't sound like it would work, but it does. My only complaint is that they were not open in the evenings!

Pros: Great food, Friendly staff

Cons: Limited hours
