Good juices, sandwiches are okay
Place is hard to find, but once your GPS gets you there you'll find a quaint little cafe. Friendly owner named Maddie greets everyone with a smile. Not much seating though and many have to wait to sit down in the tiny space. The juice are flavorful. Have tried 2 or 3 of the sandwiches a few times and not so flavorful. The fries are good and fresh, the vegan burgers are a nice switch, but not something I'd order frequently. Hoping they expand the menu and experiment with other flavors. It is nice to go to a vegan restaurant which doesn't have tofu or soy in everything for a change.

I go there just to get Radical Eats' Vegan food!
The Heights Ashbury Coffeehouse has vegetarian fare, and, while not a vegan coffeehouse, they can modify their coffees and smoothies to make vegan using nut milks. Note: Some of the items in their case (their desserts) and some of the Heights Ashbury food items are NOT vegan. The vegan food that IS available there is done separately by Radical Eats, so we vegans need to make sure and ask specifically and look for the labeling in the "to go" case. Thankfully, the talented vegan chef Staci Davis (owner of Radical Eats) rents out the kitchen during the breakfast and lunch hour and her menu is superb. It's almost like two businesses are being run out of the same joint and yeah for both being veggie! I go to Heights Ashbury to get Staci's vegan fare, which includes: her tasty tamales, vegan lasagna, her new "rawcos" (vegan raw tacos) and her fried avocado tacos, and her delicious gluten-free vegan "mac-un-cheeze". She also prepares seasonal fruit sides and locally grown salads. I hope Staci will have some vegan desserts on the menu, since this could easily become a trendy vegan hangout in the Heights. If not, maybe Heights Ashbury will bring in some of Sinfull Bakery's vegan sweets to go along with the fresh coffee and juices. The decor is fantastic and staff is very friendly!

Unique and Flavorful Vegan Cuisine
I quite enjoyed the unique taste of Jicko Foods vegan and raw vegan cuisine. Chef Xaviere is wonderfully kind and loves to let you sample the tasty vegan pizza, mini cupcakes, and the raw spread with celery. The flavors at Jicko Foods, which offers mostly takeout and catering, is unlike any that I've ever tasted -- which makes it unique and exciting.

NO LONGER VEGAN VENUE - serves animal flesh now
NO LONGER A VEGAN VENUE! When Radical Eats was a vegan restaurant, the food was unique and tasty. The Raw vegan tacos were a bit hit. Now in 2013, they have moved to a new venue in Montrose and reverted from being 100% vegan to serving dead animal flesh on the menu. Who on earth does that? I hear there are still 'some' vegan options on the menu that taste good (left over from the original Radical Eats menu), but I have no interest in going to a restaurant that was once vegan and now makes profit off of dead animals. Many non-veg restaurants are moving in a progressive, 'radical' direction by ADDING vegan items to the menu, not the other way around by once being vegan and adding dead animal flesh. A recent Houston Press article interviewed the owner, who seemed indifferent to the disappointment of vegans on her changes to the restaurant. No wonder vegans have lost interest in this place. Many other great, fully vegan restaurants in Houston to visit instead.

Excellent veg food for the price!
The wonderful former owners of Hometown Vegetarian opened up this take-out restaurant inside Food Town last year. Many of the same dishes from Hometown are still available here, including the veggie fried rice and the veggie udon soup. (Sadly, I do miss the frozen slushies!) You just can't beat the amount of vegan food for the price here! Portion sizes are huge and everything is served hot and fresh. Trust me, you will have leftovers. The only con is the location and not much seating available in the food court, but don't let that stop you from giving Veggie Wonderland a try. A great place to order food to go and take home with you.

Best vegan pizza in town!
When I discovered Zpizza in January this year, I was amazed at how delicious the Berkeley Vegan pizza could be! Plus, they use the Daiya vegan mozzarella "cheese". I hope more locations open up so I can get my vegan pizza fix. The Berkeley Vegan is topped with vegan "sausage" crumbles, zucchini, onion, tomato, olives and spices. YUMMY!

Freshly prepared, delicious flavors, clean
By far, this is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in Houston. The staff is extremely kind and accommodating, while making every effort to ensure everything is vegan. Foods are freshly prepared and it shows! Loving Hut has the best vegan burger and they make their buns from scratch. Their elegantly frosted vegan cakes are alone worth a visit with such yummy flavors as chocolate, espresso bean, strawberry shortcake, tropical fruit and the unfrosted banana and carrot cake. Many of the entree flavors are authentic Vietnamese, such as the Bun and Pho dishes. This restaurant also offers non-alcholic vegan "wine". This is part of a national chain of restaurants. First-timers may get distracted by the two TV's airing Supreme Master news, but don't let that keep you away. The tv programming is quite informative and at times mesmerizing. The warm staff, clean atmosphere, superb food and affordable prices will make everyone repeat customers.

Fresh ingredients, prepared with love!
I have had the pleasure of enjoying raw vegan cuisine from Pat Greer's Kitchen on numerous occasions, whether it be from a farmer's market or catered event. The food is extremely fresh, organic and prepared with love by Pat and her staff. The raw vegan lasagna is excellent, as is the raw veggie burger. Her falafel and salad is refreshing and light, while filling you up. Pat makes the most divine raw vegan desserts and pies, which melt in your mouth. Pat is also the host of KPFT's Ecology. If you've ever heard her sweet, kind voice on the radio, you'll see what I mean when I say her foods are prepared with lots of love and care for the planet. The quality of the food is superb!

Excellent veg food and service!
We have been going to Pepper Tree since they opened years ago, and while the prices have gone up over the years, the food continues to be high quality and fresh. We support this restaurant because so many of our other veg favorites like Tien Ren, Garden Veggie, Yin Yang and the latest Hometown Vegetarian have all gone out of business. Rent is outrageous for the owners, but they put lots of love into the food and have numerous vegan options on the buffet. The sesame kale, raw salad bar and the 6 styles of vegan sushi are superb! I'm not much for deep fried dishes, so I stick to the sauteed bok choy, veggies and the curry dish. I wish we could afford to dine here more often because the food is wonderful and the owners and staff are very friendly. Even though the price is high, you won't be disappointed. You get the best value on the buffet. I think one of the desserts may have dairy and you have to specify "vegan" when ordering smoothies, but other than that it is extremely vegan-friendly! Now that Costco is open across the street, there is plenty of parking, too.

Nice owners, but bland food
We've been to Pine Forest a few times for the buffet, but always find the food to be bland and not the freshest ingredients. We really want to support our local veggie restaurants and wish this one was more flavorful. I also question this restaurant being listed "vegan", as so many of the Asian-sytle veggie restaurants use the mock meats that contain whey and even some egg products. Perhaps the owners of the restaurant can verify they use only vegan ingredients in all the mock meat products?

Tasty Vegan at a great price, huge portions
Quan Yin is 100% vegan deliciousness! I have dined a lot at this restaurant over the years and was so happy they went 100% vegan a few years ago. The flavors are superb and very authentic. Their House Special Fried Rice is the best in Houston. You'll love the Vegan Pho, the Orange Peel 'chicken', the Veggie 'beef' Gai-lan, the authentic Vietnamese-style spring rolls, and the sizzling veggie 'fish'. It's great to know everything is vegan and you don't have to ask about ingredients. If you go on a weekend, there is such an eclectic mix of customers. The servers are very sweet, even when they are extremely busy. This restaurant has been around for over a decade and you can see why. Vegan thumbs up!

The Best Vegan Baked Goods in Houston!
Sinfull Bakery, headed by the talented Brittany Dylan-Carnes, is the best vegan bakery in Houston! You'll find her tasty creations at Houston area farmers markets and Whole Foods Market locations. You must try the Texas-sized cinnamon rolls, which are large enough to feed 4 people! The pumpkin cream-cheeze bread and banana breads are amazing, as are the oatmeal raisin cookies. Sinfull has many other delicious cookie flavors like peanut butter, chocolate chip, chocolate mint and even a gluten-free line of cookies. Brittany recently introduced vegan kolaches in a variety of flavors and she now has the most amazing vegan pot pies! Her new pot pies are big enough to feed 2+ people -- made with organic, local produce with decorative pastry leaves. I've never seen a prettier pot pie! I hope Sinfull Bakery will some day have a storefront, but it's worth going in to the farmers markets and/or special ordering. Sinfull is the place to get your vegan sweets!!! Friendly staff and great value for the portion sizes.

Fresh, Excellent Vegan Comfort Foods!
Chef Cyntha Muhammad and her husband, Ali, do a great job at providing fresh vegan food at a reasonable price. Located right inside the Shape Community Center on Live Oak, The Vegan Cafe has a variety of vegan "comfort" foods to choose from. I really enjoyed Chef Muhammad's fresh grilled veggie burger that is probably one of Houston's best. You won't find fresher or tastier french fries that are hand cut and fried while you wait. The Vegan Cafe also makes a warm and earthy vegan chili, which is great on their veggie dogs or burgers. I hope that the Vegan Cafe will eventually extend it's hours to include all Saturdays, because right now they are only open two weekends a month for their vegan brunch. If you haven't yet tried their vegan tofu scramble and veggie ham breakfast, you are missing out! What a great asset this cafe is to the local community and neighborhoods. Friendly staff and reasonable prices, too.
