Was just Ok

We had many expectations with this restaurant, and if this was the first restaurant we had been in Chiang Mai it would have been great. But the bar in the city is quite high, so we felt a little underwhelmed with the food. The staff was very nice and the menu has many options, but we just felt the overall quality was not worth the prices, based on other options in town.

Pros: Good menu options, Nice staff

Cons: Food overall taste, Prices, Location

Nice, but a little pricey

My partner and I have eaten here a few times. Twice for breakfast and once for lunch.
Their iced coffee drinks are lovely and can be made with soya or coconut milk. My firm favourite was the mochacino with coconut milk and a little less ice. Absolutely divine, but a little on the expensive side. Great for a treat on a hot day!
The western breakfast is good with great meat substitutes for bacon and sausage, which had a slightly smokey/hot dog feel to it. The tofu scrambled egg was good, not the best I’ve had, but not bad at all. The rest of the breakfast; mushrooms tomatoes, hash browns, baked beans and toast are all as expected. It also comes with tea or coffee and a small glass of orange juice (not fresh). For 180 B, it’s a little on the expensive side, but a pleasant enough meal. You can also order pancakes, oatmeal etc, which is cheaper.
There is also a large selection of lunch and dinner dishes; western and Thai. My partner and I tried the Khao Soi, Gyoza and Green Curry all of which was 6/10 when taking into account, flavour, substance and price.

Pros: Good variety, Good portion size

Cons: A little expensive, 2. Flavour could be better

Delicious Vegan Food

My very first meal in Chiang Mai was dinner at Vegan Heaven and it didn't disappoint

We tried the:
1. Sushi 80 Baht
Nori sheets, carrot, cucumber, red pepper, beetroot (according to the menu but I didn't see any red pepper or beetroot) and cucumber served with soy sauce, wasabi and young pickled ginger.

I think it was real wasabi. Super hot but I loved it. Also the pickled ginger tasted authentic and homemade.

2. Hor Mok in Coconut (Gluten-free) 130 Baht
Thai-style red curry cooked in fresh coconut with red curry paste, coconut milk, coconut meat, coconut juice, tofu, mushroom and sweet basil leaves topped with sliced kaffir lim leaves and sliced chilli.

We totally enjoyed this. Glad we ordered this super yummy dish.

3. Steamed Jasmine Brown Rice (20 Baht) & Black Rice (25 Baht).

4. For dessert, I wanted something so light so we went with Vanilla and Chocolate Ice Cream. I didn't enjoy this that much as I'm used to using real vanilla beans and the vanilla tasted a bit artificial. But Mr Jazz Guitarist enjoyed both flavours. 30 Baht per ice cream.

It took 30 mins for the food to be served and I was soooo hungry! I've also watched a YouTube video where they said the same thing so I guess you should be prepared to wait...or go during off peak. We were there just before 8.30pm and food only arrived at 9pm.

They did respond to my Facebook posting about the timing saying: I tell my ktichen staff to never rush, good food takes time to prepare and sometimes we have a lot of takeaway orders that can overwhelm us. We do our best to satisfy our customers always. Thank you again and we hope to see you again!

I wouldn't have minded if there were signs in the shop and on the menu that there's going to be a longer waiting time as food is prepared fresh so perhaps this is something they can do :)

Pros: Extensive menu - I wanted to order everything, Delicious food

Cons: Long waiting time.

Very good at fake meat

Im vegan for 4 years now and unlike many other vegans i really liked the taste of meat and cheese and still miss it. so it's no surprise that something as close to the real thing as can be would be very tempting for me. i ordered the chicken burger with a side of bacon and my wife had the regular burger and a side of scrambled egg. my dish was heaven, the bacon was so real to me i thought maybe they made a mistake and gave me real bacon. the chicken burger was really good too, crispy and well seasoned. my wife's dish on the other hand was so so. for desserts we had the waffle with ice cream and chocolate cake. both were super tasty. hands down, best vegan food in Chiang mai !

Pros: lots of vegan options, amazing fake bacon, overall good food

Overrated?

It's great to have a dedicated vegan place but I'm not sure the quality of some dishes is so good. I had pad Thai which was a pretty small portion & a tomato ketchup type of sauce. Not impressed. My partner likes western food & enjoyed the full breakfast, complete with fake bacon, sausage & eggs. The coffee was excellent. Personally, I'd go back to 'Mild' around the corner. My partner would take the breakfast again.

Pros: Excellent coffee, Excellent fake meat for those who like that kinda

Cons: I wouldn't risk the Thai food again - go somewhere

..there are better options

When we entered Vegan Heaven, we came with high expectations.
The menu was huge, but at the end none of us had the urge to return to this place.
The kitchen looked dirty, and the ambient was quite uninspiring :-(.
The food was so so.. not really bad and not really good, and overall value for money was not impressive.
There are far better options in Chiang Mai.

Pros: Large Menu

Cons: Low value for money, Dirty kitchen

Good food

I enjoyed the food here with plenty of tasty vege options. The money parcels were great, as were the different stir fried veges and desserts.

good food; many options

one of several places in Chiang Mai belonging to the same „chain“.
Food is really good, but sometimes you have to be patient to get the food. Service could be a bit faster.
... and the place is quite noisy.

But still a recommendation for Veggies and Vegans

Chicken burger

This place was quite far out from where I was staying in the old city but it was worth the travel as it was very tasty and good portion sizes. The “chicken” burger is filled with very crisp, breadcrumbed “chicken” strips which were very succulent and the vegan mayo was on point. Good for junk food, I saw a guy scoff a vegan hot dog too! Casual setting, nothing fancy and reasonably priced. Not a health fanatic or organic lovers place...

fully vegan Resto

Good food and quite busy for a small Resto. We tried to come at 9am one morning and they were not open as the chef was late. Seems to be standard as we found this happen on other small Resto too so don’t come too early :) the food is good but not so great. Green Thai fried rice I had was a bit too sweet and the sweet and sour was just so so.

Great food, but slow

Sometimes can take 30 min after order, even if medium full. They seem to have only 1 cook.

Extensive menu, but all dishes not great

Same owner as Taste from Heaven, and has practically the same menu except this place is all vegan. I really recommend the fresh spring rolls and vegan chicken burger! If you want authentic thai food I would recommend going somewhere else. Definitely worth a visit though because of extensive vegan menu.

Pros: All vegan, Good price

Cons: Not great thai food

Almost heaven

So excited to eat here, especially after having only plain veggies and fruits for a while. The chicken burger and the cauliflower wings were amazing.
Everything else we ordered (we ate here twice) was just nice. Felt like a lot of dishes missed something. Not so much taste, could spend more time on finding the perfect recipe.

The place is very noisy, more like a fastfood place. The staff is nice but wants to serve everybody as fast as possible. Could take more care. For example we ordered with dressing seperately, the waitress came and announched "Sorry we put the dressing already, I hope it's no problem" and put it in front of us. Even if we didnt't want it I don't think they would take it back and give us what we asked for.

Overal great, big menu so worth a visit.

Pros: Big menu

Cons: Noisy, Not enough flavour

An absolute MUST if you are in Chiang Mai

My only regret about this place is that I didn't have the chance to eat here more! It was probably the best food I had while in Chiang Mai, and was a nice haven with very promising veganized Thai food. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and thought it was cute how they served it in a pineapple... The staff was very prompt and kind, too. It was a bit pricy, but it was well worth it and great to see a thriving vegan restaurant in a very meat-heavy city!

Heavenly Experience

Went here for dinner with my wife and it didn't disappoint. It was probably the best overall experience we have had at an all-vegan restaurant to date.

When we arrived it was pretty busy, but we were looked after straight away. We ordered and our drinks came soon after and all of our food came out within 15 minutes of ordering and was all fresh and hot.

We ordered the Gyoza to start, which was really tasty with a good sauce to go with it. The Gyoza itself was borderline too salty, but the beer I was having relieved some of that. For mains we ordered the Panang Curry and some rice to go with it. This was my favourite dish it was so delicious I can't even describe how happy it made us. We also ordered a Pad Thai, which was also very good. We decided to get dessert since we were enjoying ourselves so much and decided on the Waffles with vanilla ice cream, and it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Hot, light and fluffy, with the vanilla to cool it down was just heaven.

Price for entire meal which filled us up and made us happy including one starters, two mains and rice, 2 large beers, and dessert came to 560 THB. I think that is pretty good considering the service, food quality, and atmosphere.

Pros: Great food, Great Service, Great atmosphere

Cons: Borderline too salty

Best vegan food in Chiang Mai by a mile

Was not expecting much from a restaurant called "vegan heaven", (which I normally associate with bitter brownies and tasteless "Buddha bowls"), but this place is fantastic.

The food is delicious and authentic, the service fantastic, and it's actually open until a reasonable time, whereas most restaurants in Chiang Mai seem to close ridiculously early!

Went here 3 times and didn't have one dish that wasn't excellent.

Pros: Excellent food, Great service, Open late (for Chiang Mai!)

simple and easy

I enjoyed a vegan khao soy, it was nice & tasty.
I also had the mushroom skewers & money bags. I can't complain at all about the whole experience. It was nice to see a vegan restaurant open at 9pm at night on a busy night shopping/ bar street.
Enjoy the food , smile , say thank you & keep enjoying your day.

They serve the best strawberry & banana smoothie and the best hot dog ever! Very friendly staff. However, it's not everything on the menu that is worth ordering - their scramble egg is really awful.. the food is a bit greasy but overall a really nice place.

Delicious Food

I went here with my roommate (who isn't vegan) and we ordered a ton of things off the menu. Everything was so good. The menu has so many options. I'd say the portions might be a bit small if you order just one thing, but other than that, I can't think of anything to complain about. I really enjoyed it.

Pros: Great Food, Good Prices, Free Wi-Fi

Cons: None
