How Big is the Diamond? - Edit
I have eaten at Blue Diamond at least five times and introduced several travelers as well. I have been completely satisfied with the staff and the service. I mainly order the same dish Vietnamese Herb Salad. Very very tasty lots of variety of fresh veggie and very filling. 98 THB
Read moreI considered it the best salad in Chiang Mai. I have seen many people chow down on the salad while I'm there. Occasionally, another happy traveler will glance over at your plate to notice you are eating the same thing.
Be mindful the kitchen closes at 8:30 sharp. So get there on-time to order or you will be drinking water and eating some fresh bread or a muffin.
The operation shut down at 9:00 sharp. But the owners are patient and wait for a few stragglers. I was one of those in the beginning. Later learned they have long days so try to leave when you see the gates closing.
I enjoyed the atmosphere as well with indoor and outdoor seating in a garden style setting. Very nice place to meet new people or enjoy time with some friends.
Now be warned this is not 100% vegetarian as it claims in the name. I personally think that is deceptive. So ask about the ingredients before ordering they use fish sauce and serve meat products.
There are also a wide selection of menu items which can make it hard to make a choice.
Like with many businesses, people are tired and get an attitude. I have found that many Thai people are over worked. Keep your orders clear. And don't too many changes to a set menu item. They tend to follow the recipes exactly.
Just be reasonable. I have seen them make mistakes with orders.
Recently, I order a banana chocolate wasn't as good as I anticipated. I drank it all but may not order again in the future.
The salad is my diamond.

Vegan diner food options, great carrot cake - Edit
Blue Diamond is non-veg restaurant and many of their menu items are traditional diner type/American/English food with a focus on meat. However, they do offer a vegan option for almost everything on their menu if you ask, there are some labeled options as well. The food does not seem to be prepared/cooked separately. The outdoor seating is lovely and staff are kind. We came here once for breakfast and once to try a piece of their vegan carrot cake. I found the vegan breakfast to be nice but nearly as enjoyable as some other options in the area. The carrot cake however was fantastic.

Loads of vegan options. Clearly sign posted which are vegan. Can add meat to every dish so great for vegans eating with meaty pals. Has a cute shop inside which sells loads of vegan yoghurt/ bread / vegan cheese etc which is extremely hard to come by here.

Fresh food, a wide variety of both Thai and western dishes, always tasty, and very accommodating for every need. They bake their breads including gluten-free and whole-grains. It’s also a good place for an informal business meeting -they have all sorts of different tables. And they even have their brand of natural products, as it’s one of the best stocked-up greengrocers in the area (organic veggies and fruit, herbs & teas, incense, toiletries, superfoods, snacks, etc.) Do yourself a favor and visit them. #Veganuary

First visited the shop and bakery. Extensive vegan baked products and other items which were pretty tasty. Went there for food too in their garden which is pretty and relaxing. Had a tofu burger with chips and banana pancakes with maple syrup. They have a lot of vegan options for a place that has meat on the menu. #Veganuary

I'm not sure how to rate this place. On the one hand, they have a large selection of vegan baked goods. I especially like the croissants, and the donut was like a yummy cake. You can order on grab too, which is nice for a leisurely croissant and coffee at home.
Read moreOn the other hand, the restaurant is very centered on meat and other animal products. They also have a koi pond, which is cruel to the fish. And lastly, I'm not 100% certain that everything they label as vegan really is. For example, I think it was the raisin bread that had a gloss that really looked like egg wash.
The coffee I've had there isn't good, so I prefer to just order stuff or get it to go. Strangely though, when I've ordered coffee on grab, it has actually been pretty good. Either it's my imagination or they're using a different prep.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how many vegan options they offer. The prices are a bit more expensive but still reasonable. The restaurant has a beautiful garden to enjoy the food outside.

This place is amazing! Delicious freshly made food for all diets. Fresh herbs and vegetables not found in any other restaurant here. Health conscius store with many vegan bakery goods and products including soaps and insect repellents. Love this place.

I hosted a vegan meetup here a couple months back, and despite the fact that I had made a reservation a week in advance, and messaged that morning to confirm the number attending, they did not have any tables reserved for us when we go there. I and other guests spent 5-10 minutes helping the staff find and move around tables and chairs to fit us all together, and the arrangement was far from ideal. Additionally, I had to go around and cleared the menus, put the confiments on the tables, and get napkins and water for the other guests, as the staff did not remember to do so.
Read morePersonally, I was very disappointed with my order. The "bbq tofu" was not barbecued or even marinated, it was just plain tofu with bbq sauce on the side. I had to deconstruct my sandwich and then put it all back together myself. The sauce was very runny and made the bun soggy, and everything fell apart.

The salads and baked goods from this place are amazing. Portion sizes are big and has a very cute vibe. Loved that they put the dressing on the side so I could add it myself. I would come back to Chiang Mai just for the Tempeh salad.

Blue Diamond is a Chiang Mai favorite which feels predominantly vegetarian although there's a good choice for vegans. There are Western and Thai dishes, a wide range of juices and teas, and gluten free products both in the cafe and attached shop.

Oh my god they have vegan donuts, croissants and cakes - Edit
My wife wanted to try everything but I sensibly instilled calm and rationality into the mix and suggested we try 3 things and come back another day. So we had the donut and multi grain croissant which were both lovely. Start with the croissant because it isn't overly sweet more savoury and the donut is covered in sugar most of which we rubbed off. Last we had the carrot cake which was very nice but we found the frosting to be a bit disappointing, it was overly sweet and rock hard... a soft cream (not) cheese flavoured with carrot and orange is usually my preference for carrot cake. I mentioned this to the staff who were very friendly and seemed receptive to my idea for how the carrot cake could be improved by replacing the hard frosting with a cashew nut carrot and orange cream (not) cheese. Lovely all the same. We'll be back tomorrow no doubt to try a bunch more delicacies

Read moreYou can buy lots of supplements and nutritional food and healthy products here. the items in the bakery are delicious and most of them are vegan. you can also buy products like soaps, incentc, essential oils etc
the restaurant is quite nice, its an open space with lots of plants and a small fountain with a pond with fish (the pond is too small for the fish). the menu is quite big and overwhelming! its not vegan, but there are lots of vegan option and you can make most meals vegan!
the breakfast set is my favorite, you get a coffee/tea with scrambled tofu (the best in chiang mai!), hash potatoes and bread for 140b. the potion is quite big and could easily be 1.5-2 meals.
the staff is very friendly and the prices are good
