Fantastic vegan options - Edit
The khao soi made vegan was incredible. My partner also had a chocolate cashew pancake that was huge and delicious. Salt made the chocolate POP and they have loads of vegan Thai and western options as well as baked good. All situated around a relaxing koi pond. I would give it 5 stars but happy cow says that can only be the rating of all vegan spots. Oh well, I say encourage all places to rise to this challenge but mai pen rai😄

Nice vibe with good vegan options - Edit
Good food, ordered the vegan pumpkin soup and the tofu avo burger. Their tofu could do with more seasoning but the rest of the burger including the vegan mustard based mayo was good! I also ordered hummus on the side.
Read moreI loved the outdoor vibe, you can sit on the floor cushions and chill and have a relaxing time. The Manager (or Owner?) was very knowledgeable about veganism.
They have a lot of vegan pastries, bread and croissant but the downside is that they use a PALM OIL based margarine instead of butter.... PALM OIL!! :(

Good location, good atmospere, nice food - Edit
Fresh food from large menu selection. Mostly satisfying. I like the dark rice, the homemade bread and muffins (if they are fresh). Some dishes missing the “uniqueness“. 3,5 stars.

amazing croissant - Edit
We only went there for the baked goods, muffins were amazing ( coconut, passion fruit) the croissants tho, the chocolate and the plain one they were to die for! Its been so long since i had one so it was def the happiest day of my life haha But, we got lucky, cause we went on a Monday they are closed on sundays so everything we got was fresh from the same day(monday), we went back on the next friday and both croissants were very disappointing and it tasted old and dry, so my guess is that they dont bake more batches until they are really sold out. Cinnamon roll looked amazing but it was partially raw, not sre if it was an attempt to not dry/burn the dough.

Average bakeshop - Edit
I just got a cinnamon roll and turmeric-coconut cookie to go, after reading some of the reviews here about the lack of everything else.
Read moreCinnamon roll is alright - how can something not be tasty when it's drenched in cinnamon, sugar and oil?! But looking past that, the dough is a bit on the dry side, so all that soaking is not hiding that.
Turmeric cookie is also tasty, with a mouthfeel like an oatmeal cookie. Nice and pleasant, but I wouldn't go back.
I almost got a muffin/cupcake, but then I spotted the horde of ants........
Cons: some staff only grunt, some capable of smiling...

The vegan pastries are fun and taste pretty good. Disappointed with the tofu sandwich and tempe sandwich. Kind of bland and middle of the road. Didn't try their Thai food, so it may be worth another visit.

Cheap food that is microwaved, a lot of low quality ingredients one of the worst places I’ve eaten in 3 years living in Chiang Mai as a vegan

Go there for pastries! - Edit
Blue Diamond is a very pleasant place, with a nice garden. It offers plenty of vegan cakes and pastries, clearly labeled. Concerning Thai and western dishes, I unfortunately didn't see much vegan choices so I would recommend to go there only for sweet items. But they are really satisfying. They have an amazing chocolate cake, fair croissants, cinnamon rolls, muffins and donuts. And it's good! They also have vegetable milks for drinks. A good place for breakfast or tea time!

great place! - Edit
Great vegetarian and vegan food, so far my favourite thaï restaurant ! Nice place, nice people, and the shop is amazing. Those muffins...haaa! You may also buy some simple and efficient beauty products. Don't miss this restaurant if you're vegetarian, vegan, want a huge salad, burgers, rice or noodle curry, etc, or simply if you like fresh and tasty food!

The most split I've ever been - Edit
The first time I came here I had the coconut yogurt which was good but had two muffins that really didn't sit well. I gave it another shot and got a doughnut as wellas chocolate croissant that were both good but then had a slice of the peanut butter cake that didn't sit. I can't quite pinpoint what exactly was wrong they just all felt, for lack of a better word, heavy. Really heavy. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is so friendly. And I will always support a place with vegan options but believe I have certainly paid my dues here. Possibly just didn't get the right stuff my cousins enjoyed it very much.

heaven for your sweet tooth - Edit
I have not had a proper sit down meal here so can't comment on that, but I got vegan baked goods here a bunch of times and they were all amazing. My home country has a pretty big bakery culture, so finding vegan versions of some of my favorites is a real treat. Just be warned, this place will screw up any diet plans you might have...

The Best Vegan Cinnamon Buns Ever! - Edit
They have a sweet little bakery at the back where I have tried the cinnamon buns, pancakes and the whole wheat croissant which all were amazing. My boyfriend is in love with their mixed stir-fried rice which comes with tons of cashews. Great value for money, nice setting in a sweet garden and good food. Probably not the cleanest but sometimes you have to turn a blind eye!

Consistent brilliance with VEGAN treats - Edit
I have been going to Blue Diamond for years. After several features in Lonely Planet, it is safe to say that the prices have increased along with the popularity. But I, along with plenty familiar faces, still keep coming back - so it is clearly well deserved.

Outstanding! - Edit
The food and dishes there are just outstanding yummy! They can nearly make everything vegan and gluten free. We've been here several times and tried many different dishes and drinks of the huge menu for breakfast as well as for lunch/dinner. And everything we've ever tried was just delicious.

Lots of love and so much more - Edit
We have been going here at least once a week for about 2 years now. The menu is pretty big, prices reasonable and the sheer amount of in-house made products is insane. Everything from the extensive amounts of baked goods (many vegan), teas, spices, and ice cream (also vegan), to the shampoos, soaps, massage and essential oils. Anything that isn't made by them is from small, local producers.
Read moreFrom the reviews below, the main gripe is with the service. It is clear that many of the employees either have little investment in the job or are constantly run down and tired. I understand this can come across as rude/dismissive, but the quality of food, accuracy of orders (even with lots of alterations) and VERY fast service easily makes up for it. I think that a big reason for the demeanor is how hard/long they all work. I know this is definitely true for the owner.
It took a little bit before she opened up to us, but when she did, the smiles came in droves. We were able to connect on a personal level that made every visit special. She was always happy to see us and would give us fresh produce, or treats with our bill.
I know the some Thai's can come across as uncaring, but they are just much more honest with their emotions and won't put on a facade. They deal with a LOT of tourists coming through all the time, many who do not treat them very well at all (I've seen it MANY times) and they all work very long hours to feed people who are usually much better off than them.
We were sad to leave Chiang Mai recently, not sure when we'd be back, but whenever we return, Blue Diamond will be the first place we go. Don't let the other reviews dissuade you. There is a lot of love here, even if you have to spend some time brushing off the dust to reveal it.

yea, if you are in Chiang Mai long enough, you will probably see a rat or two at most open-air restaurants :) Not necessarily a reflection on the place or it's hygiene, just a part of life.

One of my favourite restaurants ever! - Edit
I would give it five stars if I could, I ate here so many times here during my stay in Chiang Mai and every time was incredibly delicious. The pad Thai was one of the best I had in all of Thailand, and there’s a variety of Thai food amongst salads and smoothies. The range of vegan cakes is honestly incredible - I consumed so much sugar every time I ate here but never had any regrets! The cinnamon rolls are the best...EVER! I also really liked that none of them had peanuts in (as I’m allergic), and they also had some GF options. They also have a great selection of natural products. Go here, you won’t regret it!
