Outstanding sushi - Edit
They have moved to a new location - 21 Stephen street.
Read moreThey have a January deal on for 241 sushi, but you need to request it in advance when you book.
I’ve seen the other review for their new location and I have to say I’ve had the opposite experience. The staff were very attentive, constantly topped our water up and didn’t bat an eyelid when we ordered an inhumanly amount of sushi. Plates were cleared promptly.
I’d rush to go back and the full price of £34 is a bargain for the sushi quality.
They have faux fish nigiri and the texture is spot on. Highlights for me included the soy steak sushi (in the rainbow nigiri set), the dragon roll and the inari. Easily the most interesting and thoughtful sushi I’ve had as a vegan.
Pros: Attentive staff , Interesting and exciting options , Great value for money

New location not great - Edit
I took my friends here as I was blown away every time I visited their previous location. However this new location was a disappointment.
Read moreThe staff were not on it.
When we arrived we were given a table right in front of the aircon where it was blowing cold air on our heads, despite being super cold outside. We asked if they could put it lower or otherwise we would need to move tables before ordering. They said yes we will put it lower. We asked 3 times during dinner and nothing was done.
We ordered bottomless sushi for the 4 of us and 2 bottles of wine and honestly it was hard to have our glasses topped up. We had to ask all the time as the bottle was on an ice bucket not reachable for us so they could serve it.
Same with the water.
Food was not as it was in the previous place at Fenwick.
The food on the plate hardly resembled what was served at the other location.
Honestly the service wasn't there this time.
It took a long time to get each of the plates as the service was quite slow and it was obvious the kitchen couldn't keep up with the restaurant.
It was also strange to eat with the kind of chopsticks that you get when you go to a cheap take away rather than proper chopsticks.
While I appreciate the whole idea of the place and it's great to have this kind of vegan restaurants, I did not appreciate the lack of service from your staff. From promising to change the aircon and ignored us (making it quite uncomfortable to eat, as my partner had to eat with his cap on) to the lack of service with the food and wine.
Such a shame as I talked so high about your place to my friends and then they were as dissatisfied as we were.

Sensational Sushi!! - Edit
There were so many delicious sushi items to choose from that we decided to do the all you can eat sushi. If you plan on ordering at least two rolls per person than it pays to do the all you can eat. However everyone at your table needs to do it as well.
Read moreWe enjoyed everything we tried. They mistakenly brought us the tempura shrimp and told us to keep it and try it. It was good but not our favorite one. Our favorite was the dragon roll and the crispy rice green dynamite. #Veganuary
Pros: Yummy sushi, Easy to try different ones , Nice bright atmosphere
Cons: Service was slow at first.

It was ok - Edit
Ok food, we had the KFC burger, which had nice flavours but didn’t live up to the two chills on the menu, and we didn’t really rate the fake chicken. The duck bao buns were nice but would have been much better with a sauce, they were a bit dry and missing something, but the mock duck was really good. Jerk pops were great, nice flavour and very hot! Service was bordering on rude. #Veganuary

Lovely Food - Edit
Really enjoyed our food here. We had the duck bao to share to begin and then I had the Korean Fried Chicken burger. It was v quiet and the one server was attentive. We booked for 6, not realising the kitchen closed at 6.30, I think there should be a message when you book, so we got there half an hour early and there was plenty of space so we had a decent amount of time. You can stay after 6.30 until 8pm to finish your food. Being in the basement of Fenwicks they can't get much foot traffic but I would definitely go back, maybe on a different day when they are opened later.

Bad Service - Edit
Unfortunately very bad service. We waited forever to even get the menu cards, and we only got them through our own initiative. Then we had to call several times to finally be able to order. The dirty paper tablecloth was only briefly cleaned by hand instead of replacing it. I can't believe that this restaurant is supposed to be the best in London.

Nice quiet and leisurely lunch - Edit
Interesting setting inside a department store. It was quiet and there was one person working so it was a leisurely lunch.
Read moreWe shared the sushi as appetizer and it was the best vegan sushi I’ve ever had. Just like the other reviews stated. The chickpea fries that came with the burger are really nice! Desert was just the right size.

Extraordinary tastes. Highly recommend. - Edit
Easily the best sushi I’ve had. I’m not one who searches for mock meats but the “fish” in their sushi tasted way better than any typical sushi. The duck bao also exceptional. Even the spices on the burger brought it a step higher.

Best vegan sushi in town - Edit
It can be a bit tricky to find the restaurant if you’ve never been before. During the sunny days, the outside sitting area is open so it’s easier to spot them from the streets, otherwise you need to enter Fenwick’s department store and go down to the lowest floor to access the restaurant.
Read moreI think I tried pretty much everything on the menu... Not sure what's my favourite, maybe their sushi pizza (the base is made of fried rice) - insanely good. They offer a bottomless sushi option too, so you can eat as much as you want and try many things. It could be a good way to make the most of your money. Although last time I did that, I ate way too much and felt I didn't appreciate it as much! To me, sushi are better savoured in reasonable quantities but I let you be the judge of that :)
Pros: Owned by the French vegan Chef Alexis Gauthier, Wide variety of food, Bottomless Sushi
Cons: Inside a department store, Expensive

Amazing sushi - Edit
The sushi, bao buns and jerk bites were amazing! The menu was huge so loads of choice. So cool to find fake tuna and salmon! I enjoyed the macaroons but they weren't my favourite.

Average sushi and limited service - Edit
Visited here on a weekday for lunch. It was very quiet with only one other table and very limited service so was hard to get seated.
Read moreWe ordered the large sushi platter. It was fine but I didn’t find it special - I’ve had a lot of vegan sushi in asia and I think the rice could be tastier and found they didn’t all hold together very well either. I also found it pricy for the portion size.
It is in a shopping mall basement so doesn’t have a buzzing atmosphere. Comfortable seating though… maybe good for a coffee instead.
Pros: Comfortable seating
Cons: Limited service during weekday lunch, Sushi tasted average to me, Pricy for portion size

One great dish, one not great - Edit
The Jerk Pops (cubes of seitan) were delicious and very reasonable. However, the Crispy Rice Green Dynamite “sushi” role was a huge disappointment. It was basically a deep fried roll, but had zero taste. The fried-ness overwhelmed the other ingredients.

One of my fav place in London - Edit
Not my first time here, and I’ve never been disappointed. The food is delicious (the California Cheeseburger, oh my! The best burger I ever had). And the chickpea fries are awesome. The place is nice (great terrace, and the indoor part is really nice too). The staff is friendly, and I got to see Alexis Gauthier twice 🙂

Tasty Food Very Good Location - Edit
I was just walking around and was very happy and surprised to find a fully vegan restaurant, so beautiful, cute, with a nice terrace in a very well located area with amazing stores around. I Loved the food in general, was not crazy about the pink Palissade! The rest was great!

Loved it - Edit
First, we didn't find the entrance to the restaurant but then it was pretty obvious 😄
Read moreThe restaurant is in the basement of a mall, you just have to take the escalator downstairs. The exit is though a back door when you stay longer than the mall is open.
The restaurant's atmosphere is very cosy. By the time we were there it was pretty quiet.
The staff was really nice and accommodating.
We were very hungry and had the bottomless sushi which was really delicious, totally worth the 30£ per person.
Would totally come here again 😊

After being served “one of each”, we ended up ordering a bit too much - the sushi pizzas were just too much towards the end. With some leftovers on our plate we weren’t charged extra. Food was great, with the exception of the sushi pizza - way too oily!
