A welcome addition….. - Edit
It is encouraging to see such an esteemed chef focus on vegan food. The presentation of the food was superb, however, I was expecting more from the flavours.
Read moreThe grand sushi set was a site to behold, the neat sushi, wasabi pebble, ginger and dipping sauce all enticing. The ‘salmon’ sushi looked like the real thing. The taste of the sushi on the whole was good, the inari in particular, juicy and sweet. However, the ‘salmon’ and ‘tuna’ were lacking in flavour. In addition, the ‘salmon’ had a rubbery texture as did the prawns, once the light tempura had been bitten through. I don’t see the point of visually replicating fish purely for the visual effect, it has to have flavour too.
The bacon cheeseburger is made from a Beyond Meat burger. Thankfully the Beyond Meat burger is a common site in restaurants now. That makes it all the more disappointing that a chef of Gauthier’s high standing hasn’t created something unique. The burger was fine with tasty pickles and sauce. The accompanying fries were perfect but even better are the chickpea fries that are crisp, light and fluffy Inside.
To finish we had the chocolate cake which was rich and indulgent, if a little small. The accompanying sour cream wasn’t to my taste with its odd tang.
I would certainly try other things on the menu and it is a bold move from chef Gaulthier to embrace veganism. I suppose my expectations were very high considering the pedigree of the restaurant and it is the dilemma of a top chef that, when those expectations aren’t entirely met, the shortcomings stand out even more.

Great casual vegan spot - Edit
Popped in for lunch and what a treat. Everything was delicious! The sushi was great (the texture of the vegan sashimi was unbelievable!).

Do not take non-vegans here! - Edit
I don't usually give a bad review unless things are REALLY bad.
Read moreI booked a table for 6pm, got there on time and was told the kitchen was closing at 6:30. I ordered drinks and a burger and asked if I could order desert later and they said I needed to order it then as the kitchen was closing. The desert arrived before the main so it was just melting in the sun (unfortunately it wasn't very tasty either), the "crispy" chickn burger was soggy.
They started clearing the tables and chairs outside and said they were closing at 7.
I don't understand why you would have tables available for 6pm reservations when you close at 7. It was rushed, expensive and not enjoyable.
I was with a non-vegan friend who was not impressed at all and I felt embarrassed.
Staff are not to blame for this. They were obviously stressed and overworked but were still friendly and polite. Owners need to care a bit more.
Pros: Lots of options including sushi , Good location
Cons: Food was bad and expensive , Gives vegans a bad name , Service was rushed

Lovely al fresco lunch - Edit
Lovely vegan place with outside seating. Great selection of food including salads, burgers, desserts and even vegan sushi! 4 types of plant based milk alternatives, and good/friendly service. Really enjoyed my lunch here. I had the Soleil Riviera salad and it was gorgeous. The coffee was also lovely and well made. Would return.

123Vegan - Edit
I dined here for lunch in May when seating was exclusively outdoors. I have eaten at Gauthier for dinner a few times and always had such an amazing experience there, so I was pretty excited when I heard about 123Vegan being opened by Alexis Gauthier. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have high expectations.
Read moreFirst, this is a bit more casual compared to Gauthier, including the food offerings. I came away happy but slightly disappointed, but perhaps this might have to do with some "we just opened" quirks.
I've posted photos of everything we ordered. My favorite thing was what looks like pea ravioli (I can't remember the actual name). The quesadilla starter was actually awful and I would not recommend it to anyone...I was also pretty shocked at the quality of this coming from a Michelin star chef. The chickpea fries were delicious. The curry entree was fine. The creme creme brulee was also fine, but the winner was the second dessert they accidentally brought to the table by mistake but let us keep.
Overall Verdict: I might try this place again once it's had time to work through the quirks.

Top Spot in Mayfair for Vegan! - Edit
Hard to believe that the best terrace in Mayfair is exclusively Vegan! We sat on the terrace of Fenwick department store st the corner of Bond & Brook street.
Read moreMy riviera salad was spot on - fondant artichokes, juicy tomatoes, Greek olives...,
My son California burger was, he said, the juicier he has ever had. Found out they use beyond meat patties. My dessert of 3
Lèches with fresh mango and sorbet was first class. Felt like I was sitting on Rodeo Drive, LA. Simply the best Vegan place in Europe, by a mile. Be prepared to queue as the terrace gets packed the minute they open.
Pros: The position on Brook street and Bond Street , The chickpea fries!!!, 3 lèches cake

Fully Vegan on Bond Street - Edit
We had large sushi, a bowl and chickpea chips shared between two and were absolutely stuffed. Great having a fully vegan place in that location. Atmosphere was relaxed, not stuffy at all.

Suberb! - Edit
After the buzz of vegan social media alerted us to the opening of 123V we had to try it, so booked a table, only to find it raining that day. Staff couldn't have been nicer, giving blankets and making us feel so welcome. The food was excellent. It's like a new world of vegan food, super 'upmarket' style, at a level above anything else I've tried. Excellent burger (Beyond Meat) and salads were superb. I've since heard the owner has a Michelin Star restaurant in Soho which is vegan too! Amazing. I'll definitley be back, well done Fenwick's for being so modern. Can they open in Canary Wharf please??

Hope it improves - Edit
Food was SO bland. The menu is pretty boring. I am so happy to see vegan places open but I'd expect better from a chef. I had a bowl which was a pile of totally bland quinoa and some beans/veg/jackfruit. Only the jackfruit was prepared nicely (and there were 4 small pieces only) mainly was just a huge lump of quinoa with not well-seasoned veg and beans. I will probably try this place again in the hopes that it improves with time. If I'm going to get a Mexican-inspired rice bowl, I can go around the corner to Chipotle and get a far tastier one for half the price. The upside is it's a nice location if you are out shopping and in a cute outdoor setting.

Tasty food but underwhelming! - Edit
Early evening dinner but only the lunch menu was available. Salads, bowls and then a choice of quesadillas or beyond burger. We had 2 quesadillas, 2 fries and 2 glasses of house red. Cost incl service was £50. There is clearly a premium to pay in a location like this but it wouldnt have been so bad had we felt we had been offered a proper dinner menu. Came away underwhelmed missing a proper meal with vegetables. It's always great to see a vegan only restaurant but I hope they can extend their menu. Not feeling the need to go back.

Fresh and delicious - Edit
A nice menu with daily specials. Fresh ingredients and not a lot of fake meat. Quesadillas with chickpea fries recommended. Good outdoor seating arrangement.
