Happy quiet little lunch! - Edit
This is the first place I ever dined alone at, for a spot of lunch during a quiet spell. Normally I'm too nervous and self-conscious to do that and will only eat out rather than on-the-go if I'm with other people, but after shopping I was knackered and I've always loved Fenwicks so I thought I'd give this a go. Maybe a bit overpriced for the portion but I'm someone who eats big meals less often and I'm not used to London prices. I was lost for choice, as vegan sushi is my favourite food but I finally went with the Pink Palissade bowl with short-grain brown rice, smoky tofu, salty nori, pineapple, sweetcorn, kimchi, good quality avocado and a flavorful sauce to pour over it. It was very sweet and umami, the tastes all balanced each other out and was perfect for my palate, as I love contrasts between fresh and cooked food. I had no signal or wifi downstairs for some reason, which I actually liked because I was able to sit and read my book, make my afternoon plans and rest for a bit and I now love dining out by myself thanks to that experience at 123Vegan. I didn't feel self conscious at all, the food was good, it was peaceful, I had a good amount of personal space, the staff were polite and smiley and it picked up my energy for the rest of the day, as the food wasn't heavy and unhealthy. I'd have liked to have tried all of the vegan and gluten free options but I didn't have enough time in London to go back. Highly recommended.

Tasty food - Edit
Very tasty vegan place, creative kitchen, more than just the usual beyond meat burger. Downstairs restaurant however is freezing and drafty - it’s the reason I rarely go there anymore. I’m already freezing in the office, why put up with the same discomfort over lunch/dinner?

Average…. - Edit
Went here with high hopes but feel 4 stars is a bit generous. We got several of the dishes and nobody was blown away. It was also a bit pricey for the items we got. The vegan burger was okay, the bowls were not very filling, the sushi was decent. The macaroons were pretty good. All vegan- which is a huge bonus.

too expensive for what it is - Edit
The food would have been ok - not great, but ok - if we had been in a pub or similar. For the price it wasn't good enough. Violife cheese in the quesadillas ....(cheap, basic commercial brand) - I'd expected something better from a Gauthier restaurant. Place has no atmosphere, in the depths of a department store - maybe better at lunch but by the time we went at 6 it was practically empty and the staff clearly wanted to leave. Not a great advert for vegan food, which is a pity

Very nice meal - Edit

10/10 sushi - Edit
The sushi was crazily good and I still don’t understand that it contained no fish! Wowza. It’s a bit complicated to get there since you have to pass through a shop (unless you want to sit outside) but the interior is lovely and comfortable, I recommend dining inside!

Delicious food, a little bare after lunch - Edit
We arrived after lunch (around 3pm) and it was deserted with no one around, so we assumed it was closed. One of the waiting staff eventually poked his head out and we asked if they were open, and found out it was. After that it was all pretty great!

There was about 10 meals I wanted on the menu so we picked the sushi and a burger and both were absolutely fantastic! Followed by a yummy tiramisu.
Now I need to go back to try the rest (shame I live 400 miles away!)

Must try in central London … - Edit
This is an absolute gem in central London. Very extensive vegan menu that ranges from sushi to burgers and various fusion dishes. There is easily a dish for most people. They are based in the posh shopping mall, which can be a slight downside as their opening hours depend on it as a result…. Evening meals aren’t always an option.

Vegan Sushi at its Best - Edit
I’ve wanted vegan sushi which wasn’t just an easy cop-out for a long time and Alexis Gauthier’s menu at 123V has delivered it. Yes it has the Southern California sushi which has been mimicked in all vegan places purporting to make good vegan sushi, but the other sushi was on another level. It’s hard to describe this sushi without sounding sycophantic but my review is honest and from a real sushi eater’s perspective as I only turned vegan 2 years back.
Read morePetit Sushi Set or Grand Sushi Set? The grand has more of what is served in the petit with the addition of Prawn Tempura.
‘Petit Sushi Set’ - Lets start with the Uramaki There were two California makis which were as anyone would expect but very nice all the same, and two vegan-salmon with avocado makis which were on a new level. The blend of salmon and avocado complemented each other - the creaminess of the avocado supported the salmon flavour balancing the taste into a moreish, light and fresh bite. Next was the Nigiri and in my sushi opinion, the stars of the plate. Like the uramaki there were two of each. The avocado was a nice twist on a sushi dish, creamy, light and perfect to accompany the warm sun on my back. Get ready to gear up because the other two were the vegan-salmon and vegan-tuna. I thought them impossible to replicate as both have very defined textures and tastes but Alexis managed it beautifully. The salmon is cold, the texture sticky to the tongue like the real thing and soft with a light chew as you bite through it. The salmon flavour is there and it tasted like it was caught that morning. The tuna has more bite as you’d expect and the flavour is stronger than that of the salmon, but it’s not fishy and incredibly akin to a fresh piece of tuna. When all of the sushi has a slither of the amazing pink picked ginger placed on it and dipped in the sauce it’s reached a new level. Looking and tasting like the real thing it would fool any sushi eater. To finish there’s a sweet tofu pocket - simply delish.
Paired with a bottle of Albariño it was unbeatable.
Thank you Alexis Gauthier
(To help others - The ‘Uramaki’ is the round rice rolled one with a filling. The ‘Nigiri’ is the rectangular mound of rice topped with a piece of fish (vegan in this instance), usually with a small amount of wasabi between the fish and rice to hold the two together, or a thin strip of toasted seaweed might be used to tie them - the latter in this case - see images)

Delicious food, bad service - Edit
The food is delicious, the service was cold, seems like the waitress didnt want to give us a service, and also she disappear and other costumer had to search for her. It overshadowed the good experience of the great food. :(

Good food but poor service - Edit
I found this place on HappyCow and was very excited to go there for a breakfast.
Read moreI ordered the Vinglish breakfast and a juice and the food was pretty good. The menu is very interesting as well and I will definitely be back at some point to try their sushi as well.
That said, the customer service I experienced was very poor from the beginning to the end. I got there at 10am exactly and had to wait at the entrance about 5 minutes before the lady from the perfume shop next door went to ask the cook to come out of the kitchen and assist me.
Once seated, I saw the waitress arriving with her jacket (she was probably late to work) and she came to take my order while still in the jacket and the handbag.
After ordering it took another good 25-30 minutes to get the food even though I was the only customer in the restaurant, which in my opinion is a bit too long. After eating, no one came to clear the table. I paid and left.
In summary, the food was good and I will certainly give this place another chance in the future but the service was disappointing.
Pros: Very interesting menu, vegan sushi
Cons: Slow and disorganized service

Great food, service not as good as it could be - Edit
First of all, absolutely wonderful food and wine
Read moreJust had a challenge in the run up to the meal, as we knew we would be busy (and we were) and we couldn’t work out when the place shut.
(Currently kitchen shuts at 7, restaurant at😄but had to wait til we got there, despite numerous calls and an email) so was very stressed about that
The.n second frustration was they just dumped main meal in table whilst we were eating starters. (We did order when starters had arrived, but expected them to co-ordinate that for us, at this level of restaurant)
However, that seemed to be connected with the kitchen pushing to close up at 7 (although our main meals arrived well before that)
Pros: Great food, Fully vegan, Great wine
Cons: Difficult to contact, Unclear when it shuts, Poor service attention to convivial meal

Best vegan burger we ever had - Edit
Well the cheeseburger is simply the best vegan burger my wife and I have ever had. The place is nice and cozy, everything we had was delicious. The waiters (we visited this pace twice) were extremely polite and welcoming. Highly recommended, one of the best vegan restaurants in London for sure.

Good to find a vegan place in this part of town - Edit
There are few vegan restaurants in this part of town so we were very pleased to enjoy a lovely lunch at 123v in the basement of Fenwicks department store, with friendly but unobtrusive service.
Read moreThe quesadillas were very cheesy and mild in flavour (even the spicy one). Our son raved about the sushi he ordered and daughter enjoyed the chicken burger and jerk bites. As all the other comments say, the chickpea fries are amazing.
The slight disappointment was that all the burgers were of the fake-meat type: it would have been nice to have a more vegetable-based option. Also, purely personal preference, but I don’t like bench seats and would have been more comfortable seated in a chair.
