OMG Crispy chick-un!

19 Jan 2010

I've had the Asian mock-meat all over the place, but I have to say that Shing Wang's crispy "chicken" is one of, if not the, best. Try the mango crispy "chicken" and you'll see what I mean! The bubble tea is also great. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, and you can't help but get hooked on the Chinese soap operas on the tv!

Han Gawi, Franchia's sister restaurant, has been a NYC fav of mine for awhile, so I was excited to try Franchia. I was not disappointed! The food is amazing - maybe even better than Han Gawi! Maybe. The crispy tofu sushi is an excellent starter. I typically do not like seaweed, as it tastes way too fishy for me, but the crispy tofu inside these rolls is so amazing that I can't even taste the seaweed. As a main course, the kabocha pumpkin and tofu dish is a must (unless you prefer the sizzling spinach noodles ;D ). The presentation is amazingly beautiful and the tofu is absolutely delicious, as is the entire dish. Overall this is a very stylish restaurant with excellent food, teas, and desserts... now one of my NYC favs!

So healthy and delicious!

Where else can you find Korean food with a conscience?!? New Start is doing an amazing job at providing delicious food with your health in mind. Their cancer-fighting mushroom tea is amazing. There is always a great and wide selection of foods on the buffet and the staff is absolutely divine.

Good but not as vegan-friendly as it could be

16 Dec 2008

Green has a great menu, large reasonably-priced servings, and good food. The times I have been, however, they were often out of vegan options of the day. Their selection is not as vegan as it very easily could be. So.. great for vegetarians, decent for vegans. My experience (and what I've heard from others) is that it's pretty hit and miss for vegans.

Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful food!

There's nothing like eating out in the veranda at Kalachandji's. It's absolutely beautiful... and heated in the winter! The food is wonderful. The temple is stunning. The people are amazing. The only problem... vegan dessert isn't offered all the time!

ehh it's alright

I live in Dallas, but travel to Austin frequently. I've never been impressed by Mother's. The last meal I had (BBQ) was dried out like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Or maybe days.

Best pan-Asian in Denton

16 Dec 2008

Denton has some great Thai restaurants, but Mr. Chopsticks has, by far, the best selection of any Asian restaurant in town. The menu is huge, and although it isn't all vegetarian, you won't be limited in your choices. The sesame vegetables & tofu is the best!

Vegan Pizza (with cheese)!!!

21 Dec 2008

The Parlor, and Hyde Park Parlor, make an amazing vegan pizza. They don't always have all the vegan meat selections (and sometimes they may not have any), but just having a pizza with vegan cheese is something to celebrate! The thick crust is delicious. They also have nutritional yeast flakes for topping.

Not really sure it was worth the drive.

16 Dec 2008

I'm not really sure this was worth the drive from Chania, but the drive was fun! The food was great, but not as vegan-friendly as it could have easily been. The location is nice - only a short walk from the beach. The atmosphere is good, the staff were decent for being in Greece.
