Best oil-free WFPB dinner ever! - Edit
I’ve been eating WFPB with no added oil for a very long time and this has been our best meal out ever! While not everything is oil-free there were so many options and our dinner was so very flavorful! We’re visiting town and The Red Fern will be the reason we will be back. Lucky local vegans to have this restaurant in your home town.

Got a quick to go order of the quesadilla which was pretty good and had to try the funfetti cheesecake which was great (not a big fan of the frosting on top).

Wanted to love this place - Edit
Really wanted to love the food the macaroni salad is good so are the herb gravy and mash potatoes. The lentil loaf arrived very cold on the inside more than likely from ordering close to closing thats on me yet it wasn't good unfortunately 😕 would try again just something different.

Wonderful! - Edit
Love trying vegan takes on local dishes, such as the compost plate! Everything was delicious! The service was wonderful. My kids loved the nachos and cheese pizza. The server told us about the cheese pizza; it was not on the menu. The compost plate was also delicious. Highly recommend.

Really tasty desserts - Edit
I tried what I think was a jam bar and the chocolate peanut butter krispy treat from a party tray of desserts. Both were delicious! If I ever get back to Rochester I want to go to the red fern to try the food and the cheesecake.

Thoughtfully delicious - Edit
I went here the other week with my good friend before a jazz show. While I am not new to vegetarian/vegan food, I am new to dining in a restaurant that is exclusively vegan. I got the lenti loaf with greens and rosemary potatoes... WHOA. When I tell you it was phenomenal and I cannot stop thinking about it, I mean it. I am hoping to get to go out with my wife sometime soon to share in the vegan bounty with her. Their food is delightful and their space is warm and welcoming. I will be coming back.

Decent But Not Perfect - Edit
I had a steak bomb with a side of sweet potato salad.
Read moreThe seitan was good, but cut into such big chunks it didn't work in a sandwich. I really dislike the bread though and I think that's what made it not great. I did enjoy the potato salad

Always great food - Edit
Been here tons of times always forget to review. This is one of the Rochester favorites for every vegan as every other review says. Vegan comfort food in a warm inviting atmosphere, with lots of vegan sweets as well. Large menu that always has rotating specials as well, take out is pretty quick but you usually need a reservation for Friday Saturday. If your not from here this is a must go.

Fabulous Vegan Vibe and Food in Rochester NY - Edit
VegNews did an article about vegan friendly Rochester NY, and specifically mentioned Red Fern, and they were right on. My wife and I traveled from Miami to ROC and went straight to Red Fern, just ten minutes from the airport. Wonderful old neighborhood with houses built in the late 1800s. Red Fern is located in a part of one of these amazing houses. Such a cool vibe. Sit inside or outside on the quaint corner. Service is excellent and the food is first rate. Wide selection of plant-based options, hard to choose, but everything is fresh and delicious. Must go! And then must drive just one hour to Watkins Glen area to visit two of the best animal sanctuaries in the country - Farm Sanctuary and Sweet Farm. Tours are available.

My true addiction - Edit
I moved to roc 4 years ago but first went to the red fern 7 years ago. I totally manifested finding a Rochester husband in order to get me closer to the red fern 🤣. I get the compost plate (at least) once a week. I get it with lentil burger and double Mac salad. It truly is my favorite food. The cakes are phenomenal. The specials are amazing. The staff is kind, and the owner donates tons of money to local animal charities. I absolutely love this business and all of the food 🩷

My husband had the loaded nachos— with so many toppings it’s like nothing you’ll ever have anywhere else. We also share the quesadilla which was also excellent.

Get the cheesecake! - Edit
Delicious food and a very friendly staff! Came here with a group from work that all had various dietary preferences/restrictions, and The Red Fern accommodated us all. It was probably the first time that all of us could order everything on the menu😄the lentil burger (loaded!) was great, along with the soup of the day. But omg the cheesecake! Get the cheesecake. It's awesome.

Meh mains, fab desserts - Edit
First the praise: the desserts are to die for and absolutely worth a visit (or several). The food, however, was just meh. Everything seemed gloppy and coated in some kind of sauce; not just what we ordered but also what was on neighboring tables. I’ll go back to grab some desserts to go, but that’s about it.
