More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
In high school and college, I tried vegetarianism on and off. Growing up in a traditional Filipino household, however, made that very difficult. When I met my vegetarian fiance, we debated the reasons for eating meat, and ultimately, I found that I couldn't come up with a reason other than taste! So I became a vegetarian. About a year and a half later, we became vegans.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
HappyCow allows vegetarians and vegans to share their thoughts on local animal-friendly fare, as well as helps others traveling to new places. It's genius!
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
China has amazing vegan food if you prepare a list of restaurants you'd like to visit in advance. There are many options in each of the big cities. Would love to go back and explore the smaller places, though. Manila, Philippines had some vegan options, but not nearly as many as the cities I visited in China. And Japan has some vegan restaurants that are amazing (actually, the best vegan dessert I've had was in Osaka), but I would have to say China (specifically, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Xian, and Beijing) was the easiest place abroad to find vegan food. Next I would love to visit Taiwan, Peru, and Germany. And everywhere else. I've got the itch to travel!
