Good place if you like vegan cream - Edit

Well, this place has vegan cream in all forms. Cake. Cupcakes. Just cream. With marshmallows. On cake. In some kind of fruit concoction. I enjoyed my concoction (I did forget the name. It was yellow outside and had (of course) cream and raspberry stuff inside). Certainly not for every day, but given that it is set to close shop within the week, get it while you can.

Pros: innovative about vegan cream use, does keep a punky vibe

Cons: maybe a bit too much cream ..., set to close

Awesome cake and cool merch - Edit

I had a piece of lemoncake and it was the best lemoncake I ever had. It had a perfect lemon taste, not like most other lemonstuff an artificial taste. I really recommend going here.

They also had cool patches to sell.

Pros: Tasty cake, do I need to say more?, Friendly staff

Delightful desserts, cool vegan vibe - Edit

Darling cafe with decadent looking dessert. Great place for an iced latte with lots of whip creme and a sugary confection (although we did see some people eating some fine looking salads as well). Cute atmosphere and tees "when eating cakes becomes vegan activism."

Pros: Decadent desserts, Cool vegan vibe

Cute place, cool merch - Edit

On the weekend they have brunch and you can't sit down during the brunch hours unless you buy brunch which was 12,90 euros. It looked really great! Not the typical american vegan brunch but hey I'm in Berlin. Since I was trying to spread my budget around to another vegan bakery nearby I decided to get a dessert and an americano (1,80 euro) to go. The ameriano tasted quite good.

I got the Tresor (4,90 euro) which everyone in the previous reviews said to get. It's good. It's different. It's fancy. The outside is like a whipped cream mousse and the inside is caramel wrapped in a chocolate ganache. I thought it was kind of expensive but I see now it's a complicated yummy dessert. I also saw that they have these at Chaostheorie (vegan bar/restaurant). I mean I don't know if it's all the time but I saw them.

Pros: brunch!, fancy dessert

A great spot for vegan cakes - Edit

A nice place to have a creamy cake! Good choice of cakes, it's actually difficult to choose... so you have to come back and try out another one! I also had a crepe with a salad, was delicous as well. It's better to go there just for the cakes because after the crepe i wasn't hungry enough to fully enjoy my desert!

Pros: delicious cakes, good food

Cons: Not very comfy and a bit dark

5+ - Edit

that's simply my fav place in berlin. they've got only vegan cakes with a lot of gluten free options. i always take tresor cake and it's always so damn good! it is compulsory place in berlin. stuff also if very friendly and i think i got crush in a bartender ;) but if you're looking for quiet place for coffee - music might be to heavy but for me it was ok. the place is so good i could live there, seriously!

Pros: amazing cakes, not so expensive , very friendly stuff

best cakes in Berlin - Edit

Amazing cafe - nice staff and best music selection I've come across in this city in a cafe.

The cakes of course are astounding - the Tresor especially, and the cakes slices are great too especially if you like cream and mousse.

I also had a big pizza type thing with vegan cheese and meat (pfannkuchen??) which was very tasty. Their hot drinks and soups are great as well.

Can't recommend this place enough. GF too which is great for a bakery. Their food is exciting and makes you feel like you're not missing out on baked goods as a vegan - meringues and mousses and crepes and all sorts. Wifi good

Pros: music, delicious food, nice staff

Cons: price is reasonable but still more expensive than , atmosphere could be cosier

Cute and so decadent! - Edit

You have to try the tresor! Went here with my gf, we also got Le Pervers choco brownie and hot drinks that were so rich and tasty. The tresor was definitely the highlight though!
This combined with cute surroundings and nice staff make for a warm and indulgent experience!

Pros: TRESOR , Cute surroundings, Cool souvenir tshirts

Cons: A tad expensive

Tresor - Edit

I tried to come here for brunch but the place was full with people waiting outside and I didn't want to wait around.

Instead I came back another day and there it was in the counter: the beautiful tresor! Rich, creamy and if you cut it there's a thick caramel sauce running out, do I need to say more?

It is very, very heavy though so don't eat before you go here :-)

Pros: Tresor, tresor, tresor!, Nice T-shirts :-)

Cons: Very heavy

paradise for sweets lovers - Edit

Ohlala is really a paradise for vegans who love cakes. The cafe is in a great area. Inside, it looks very cute, the walls are pink, there are white bunnies and white antique looking pictures. (Actually my boyfriend and me, did't like that cute style, but my other friend adored it.) We tried two cakes. One chocolate cake that was really really good and a creamy cake, that was too sweet for me and not as tasty as it looked like. I like that they offer glutenfree options. We also tried some other pastry that was tasty. I would wish more options without soy and refined sugar though. The stuff was very nice :)

Nice brunch - Edit

Went there on a saturday for brunch. Must say i had high expecxtations with +10 people waiting outside when thet opened.
All the food in the brunch tasted great although i had expected some brunch classics like scrambled tofu and creps/pancakes. Non of which were there.
All in all a nice place! Though they also played very loud music.

Pros: Great taste, Nice staff

Cons: Loud music, No 'classics' in the brunch

very nice - Edit

I was very excited about trying this place and it didn't let me down. I had an apple and cinnamon crepe and it was yummy! Myself and boyfriend took away a peanut, chocolate log for later in the day and it was so delicious I didn't want to share it!! :)

Pros: friendly service , wide range of cakes , large cafe, plenty of seating

Cons: decor wasn't great (but I'm not a fan of pink)!

Good pastry shop with innovative cakes - Edit

This is a good place to grab a sweet vegan treat. The crepes are good. The highlight is the range of sweets and pastries which are artistic and tasty.

Pros: Unique range of sweets, Well priced, Good location

Cons: Eat in menu is limited

Tresor! - Edit

The Tresors are worth the trip alone. Just have one.
The other cakes we tried on our two visits were amazing as well.
The brunch did not appeal to us and we did not have it, but it looked like good value.

Pros: Vegan and gluten free! Perfect!

Vegan and glutenfree - Edit

A cute vegan bakery in the coolest neighbourhood in Berlin (Friedrichshain) , they make a vegan brunch also (with salty food, not only sweet) But brunch it's a little expensive and you have to go early or you will not enjoy the brunch. Not much place to sit (always full) , but you can order to take away also :) . Sweets are good but with a lot of sugar, don't order too much if you don't want to have diabetes (sugar overload), and this make difficult to finish the desserts :( . The bakery it's very clean and have toilet :)

Pros: Vegan and glutenfree , take away or seat, Location (Friedrichshain), clean

Cons: Too much sugar in the desserts, Few seats, Bit expensive

the sweets looks good but... - Edit

Haven't try their pastries yet. The owners are french and friendly.
I was in their kitchen for some experience and find they put too much raffinated sugar, non organic soy milk etc...too many processed ingredients for me.

All is gluten free and the vegan brunch is well prepared.

Good but not great - Edit

The vegan brunch is on the expensive side (13 euros) and most items tasted well but there were a few which we didn't like. There was no place to sit for a while and more annoyingly no clean plates (kinda unprofessional), so we had to wait. Personnel was friendly.

Nice, but the brunch was disappointing... - Edit

I've been looking forward to visiting Ohlala for quite some time now, so I finally went to the saturday's brunch now. It was difficult to get a table at 11:30, but we managed. The price is 13€, excluding drinks.
And the brunch was okay, but nothing extraordinary. Everything's not only vegan but also glutenfree, which I don't care about as I'm not allergic to gluten. There was glutenfree bread, which reminded me of Zwieback, that was okay, you could get vegan butter and jams. The mini icecream was nice (although it seems like it was just frozen whipped cream with jam), the blueberry cake was nice too (but really small & thin pieces), the fruit salad seemed like it was cut loooong tim before serving, so it was not the best. The small smoothie had a lot of pieces (not very smooth) and I tasted a lot like they used canned peaches... The crispy chocolate balls made with cornflakes was simple, but quite yummy. Then the savory section began: 3 salads - nice, but nothing special, Chili sin Carne with Tortilla chips (the chili was cold, a bit strange and overall not outstanding). The hummus was good, there was another spread with onions I think, which was also good. The black olive tapenade could have been spiced in a nicer way. Then there were three hot dishes, all of them were quite empty already, so I could only try one of them: the lasagna. The lasagna was really yummy - just a little bit more salt would have been nice.
So all in all I had a lot nicer vegan brunch buffets in Berlin... as a "french vegan café" I would have expected them to have croissants, I'm a big croissant lover, but they didn't. I wouldn't recommend going there for brunch, but their cakes looked quite good, so maybe I'll come back to try a cake.
Ans I hope to find good vegan croissants in Berlin soon :)

Pros: Nice interieur, Cakes look nice

Cons: Brunch disappointing, Not fresh, No croissants

Best vegan brunch! - Edit

This tiny cafe is quite hidden away, but it was worth testing our navigation skills to find it! We went on a Sunday when the brunch was in full swing, so we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The food was excellent! I had four plates worth!
There was such a variety, and I really enjoyed trying a bit of everything. The desserts were delicious, and I bought a Peanut Conspiracy to take away which was divine! I have a huge sweet tooth, and Ohlala certainly satisfied it!

Pros: All you can eat brunch!, So many delicious desserts, Nice staff

Cons: Busy, but worth waiting for a table!

My review was removed (again) but still needs said - Edit

My review was removed for probably the third time, but here's the summary:

I tried going to this place 7 different times. Each time, it was closed without explanation, even though it was during business hours. No note or anything outside, just a locked door.

7 was far too many tries. I stopped going. I also received extremely rude messages from employees for posting a negative review in the past, which did nothing to convince me to try again. Maybe the food is great, but I'd rather go elsewhere to a restaurant that's actually open when they say and isn't rude to people who dare to point out their inconsistencies.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Never open when they say they are

J-Veg 29 Jul 2015 - Hey Ryan, it sucks that you had a negative experience visitng Ohlala. I've personally never had any problems with Ohlala being closed during opening hours and the staff have only ever been friendly in my experience. I have contacted Ohlala to check that HappyCow has the correct opening times to avoid this happening again.

Please keep in mind the review guidelines when posting reviews. This is possibly the reason why your review was removed.

vegan_ryan 31 Jul 2015 - Everything in my comment follows the rules. My guess is that the insult-laden responses of the owner on my 2 previous reviews led to deleting my review when deleting the comments.

The facts are that I've tried to go 7 times and never found them open. That's ridiculous.

Best vegan cafe ever? - Edit

This place is amazing. The brunch is to die for, and so are the crepes aand the Tresor pastry. Word of caution, however: while I'm usually forcefully opposed to sharing deserts, I strongly recommend sharing the Tresor. It is powerful.

Pros: GREAT food, Friendly staff, Menu in English

The perfect Vegan experience - Edit

Everything is Vegan here. Serves hot food and Desserts.

Hot food is excellent, tasty, and a decent sized portion. We had what was like a spinach crepe - delicious ! and what was like a pizza but on a thin flaky pastry base - delicious ! Desserts are amazing, we had the peanut bar - delicious ! and a chocolate desert bomb - delicious !

They have a fridge with a good choice of vegan drinks. Seats outside and in. We found the staff very friendly. Prices are good. You can order to takeaway too. Right next to Samariter Strasse Underground Station. We want to go again. The perfect Vegan experience.

Pros: excellent all vegan food !, good choice and prices, friendly staff

Wonderful vegan gluten free patisserie! - Edit

Really friendly staff, and high quality vegan patisserie. If I lived near here I would be obese! Lime Vanilla cheesecake is a winner.

Pros: Friendly staff, Vegan patisserie , Gluten free

Wonderful vegan deliciousness - Edit

This place is amazing! The cakes are out of this world, they need to be tried to be believed! I had a Tresor which was a many layered cake of joy (no really!), i shared it with my friend who is a vegan chef and she was blown away too. Also had a Indiana which is a little chocolate pyramid and was sooo good! Plus is had a 'cheese' and tomato crepe, so simple sounding, yet the flavours were just prefect, totally delicious. The people who work there are friendly, the food is a good price, gluten free, my favourite food place i went to in Berlin.

Pros: Delicious food, All vegan, Very friendly

Cons: I didn't make it to their brunch!

unbelievable desserts - Edit

We attempted to eat brunch here on Saturday around 1 but the small cafe was packed. So we opted to get a few desserts to go. Let me say that these are by no means healthy desserts. But oh were they worth the calorie splurge. I can't even begin to describe these rich, complex and carefully created desserts. Just know that they were amazing!

Pros: phenomenal desserts

Cons: small seating area

good brunch - Edit

I tried the Saturday brunch for 11,90€
The food was good, with a broad variety of sweet mini muffins, chocolate pudding, crumbled pears, strawberry smoothies and then also mushroom risotto, pumpkin pasta, potato rösti, salad and vegetables with tofu. I loved the fact that everything was vegan AND gluten-free, but I would have also appreciated trying a quiche (maybe mini quiches or small pieces of a big one would be an idea?)
But there is something I id not like.
It is "normal" that fancy drinks like Chai Latte etc are not included, but I think having a cup of coffee included or at least (!) free tab water, that should be standard, seriously.
Besides that a nice place (quite pink and hipster, but hey, the food was good!)

Pros: tasty food, great variety, OK-priced brunch buffet

Cons: not even tab water included

Great brunch, tasty deserts - Edit

The first time I ran into Ohlala was because of the person accompanying me who needs to eat gluten-free. I also tried one of the gluten-free quiches and it was delicious. Next time we tried the brunch, had deserts and coffee - all superb! Definitely will go there again.

Pros: great food, staff very friendly and helpful

Cons: small

Excellent vegan cakes and treats - Edit

I found Oh La La by accident while I was in Berlin for a few days, and I'm so happy I stumbled upon it. I almost couldn't believe everything was vegan because there was such a wealth of choice. Although the crepes were very tempting, we just had two desserts: the pyramid that tastes like a Snickers bar (delicious), and the chocolate praline cake with the gooey centre (even better). The price was in line with the presentation and fanciness of the food. It was a nice little cafe too, very pretty.

Pros: All vegan, great choices

My fav place in Berlin - Edit

I went to Ohlala for the first time about 2 years ago. It's always been and always will be my favorite vegan place in Berlin, First, because of the food: I do love french food, and they do it great. They've got Quiches (mushroom/Mustard, broccoli and almonds, ratatouille and grains, potatoes...), crêpes: I just can't describe them all, but trust me, you'll be amazed. From homemade salted caramel with roasted almonds, to homemade white chocolate and bananas.. Every dish has a funny frenchy-queer name, which I find adorable and brings so much fund into your food!
Also they have AMAZING Flammkuchen... I mean: try the one with grilled vegs and homemade Pesto and tell me about it! If you're more the traditionnal type, have some of the crème fraiche/Speck (Smoked tofu in Marinade) or with homemade vegan bolognese.
You can't beat that.
Second reason: TONS of gluten free options. I'm gluten intolerant and I must say that's the best place to eat gluten-free. They're not celiac certified but I've heard of many celiacs who went there and had no problems. You can have pretty everything in GF option: The Quiche, with an amazing homemade buckwheat dough, almost all the cakes are gluten free, even the individual ones.
Oh yeah, I have to talk about those: They do have individual treats like a vegan gluten free "Snickers" that looks like a pyramid, a Tresor (or chocolate bomb I would say) which is a praline with crunchy peanuts and a melting caramel center with chocolate.. Well it's crazy. They also have this choco Pervers, which is a soft, melty round chocolate cake served with vegan chantilly and some others....

And the third reason: The brunch. Every saturday AND Sunday from 11 to 15, all-you-can-eat homemade french buffet, 100% GLUTEN FREE!!. I mean, woow... I go there at least every two weeks, and the food is always different here!
About the drinks: There are many different organic drinks here, like lots of Lemonades, Mate, also beer (local and organic)and coffees, teas in small cute pots.
I also would like to add they have many different plant-based milks such as almond, hazelnut, oats, soy, vanilla soy...
Overall the best place I have found so far for a cosy, vegan, tasty round-up in Berlin :)
Also, the staff is really nice, helpful, the speak mostly English and German, but also Italian and french!
I wish they were places like that all over the world so I could be sure of the quality of the food I'm eating! You can trust french people when it comes to food! ;)

Pros: lots of glutenfree options, brunch is amazing, you can't beat their pastries

Cons: I can't go there everyday, very busy on brunch (no reservation), not so easily accessible

Best desserts I've ever tasted - vegan or not! - Edit

I found this place upon hanging out with a friend from Berlin on my trip there.
I kid you not - these are the best deserts I've ever tasted.
I include those I ate before I was vegan.
This was just so good I'm drooling just thinking about it!

Also - great price for what you get.

I also ordered quiche and salad - they were OK. Nothing special. Probably won't order them again if I ever get the chance of coming again but this place is COMPLETELY worth the trip.

Also staff was very friendly and explained everything in English.
Very nice and friendly vibe and the toilets say "toilets for all genders". You just can't beat that!

Really - amazing beyond words. I don't say that much.

Can't wait to come to Berlin again just to eat their desserts.

Pros: AMAZING desserts., Good price., Friendly staff and vibe.

Cons: Quiche not amazing., It's in Berlin and not next to my house

There is more to veg food than quiche and soup - Edit

The food in this place is acceptable, but pretty predictable. Every single inexpensive veg place in Berlin prepares quiches, soups, sandwiches, and cakes. The thing is there is so much more about vegan food that I found it depressing. Food ok, nothing to go back for, with the exception of the chocolate round cake: that was gorgeous. Place itself is nice, cosy, service is very slow though.

Pros: Nice cakes

Cons: No salads, No grains with vegetables

Kyttiara 20 Aug 2014 - Dear Manuela,
I would like to point out, that if you had read the menu correctly, there are lots of other options than just quiche, salad and soups (yes there are salads and grains that’s right ;))
There also are crepes (made by French people, with a French vegan recipe) Flammkuchen, cakes, and individual treats available (I suggest you try these because they are truly amazing and homemade). I also would like to say that since I have been living in Berlin, I have seen many places offering quiches BECAUSE Ohlala, more than 3 years ago now, have introduced quiche in Berlin (Nb: it's a French specialty and Ohlala is a French shop... Do you see any connection here?)
About the vegan food: You might be depressed by vegan food, but it is a shame to say that when you... enter a vegan shop. That you did not like the food is your opinion, but that you cannot read a menu and/or available options correctly is either stupidity or hypocrisy.
If the service is too slow for you, may I suggest that you go to a fast food place? There are a lot in Berlin and they offer sandwiches, as you said! (Ohlala does not, because they chose to COOK food).
Also, I would like to add that Ohlala has MANY gluten-free options, which is absolutely great for people like me, who are gluten intolerant.
All in all, I think I can say Ohlala remains my favorite Vegan place in Berlin BECAUSE it offers so many options other shops have not. Such a shame you did not like it but hey, maybe you should give it another try!
Have a lovely Day! xx

Great vegan crepes! - Edit

The inside of the cafe is painted in a pastel pink colour and it was this that we noticed first :-) There is definitely a French feel to the place which is supported by French-themed paintings on the wall (the owner is also French, I believe). The menu was written in German only, but it was fairly straight forward to decipher and the owner was happy to help with any queries. While the owner was busy (she was cooking/serving alone), she made time to be polite and exchanged light conversation. We chose two different types of crepe: caramel & nuts and white chocolate. The crepes were delicious and nicely presented with whipped cream and a pink napkin. My partner was in heaven with the white chocolate version that he chose. I ordered a chocolate and peanut butter pyramid-shaped dessert following the crepe which we ended up sharing. This tasted like a Snickers bar and was topped with a gold dusting. Very pretty (see photo section) and sweet! Overall, a nice experience. Fair prices for the crepes (3-4 euros each) and a great selection of cakes. OhLaLa cakes are stocked by at least two other vegan cafes in Berlin (Chaostheorie, Freckles) so if you don't make it to OhLaLa you can still sample their delights elsewhere. Recommended as a nice stop for breakfast or lunch. Would also make a nice place for a date.

Pros: Pretty decor, fairly priced, yummy sweet crepes

Cons: None

Absolutely delicious - must go - Edit

I stayed in the Almodovar Hotel recently and Ohlala was just round the corner. We had a brunch with all sorts of interesting savoury and sweet dishes, and loved it so much we went back the next day for a quiche and a cake. I strongly recommend stopping by Ohlala if you're in the area.

Stop Reading This and go to Ohlala - Edit

I went here recently whilst on holiday in Berlin. I'm not one to wax on lyrically so I'll keep this short. Go to Oh La La. They serve top end French pastries / cakes that are entirely vegan. I had a chocolate mousse covering a thick chocolate disc that housed a rich caramel sauce center. This was so good I 'literally' had to have another treat. I had a banana and walnut slice of cake. This needs to be a 'must do' if you're a vegan in Berlin.

Pros: fine dining quality vegan treats, value for money

Cons: I couldn't eat all the cakes

A little taste of paradise - Edit

Truly a small (depending on how many different sweets you take) taste of paradise. We were speechless and just smiled to each other when we tried two of the cakes for the first time.

The place looks lovely in adorable way. Many tables inside and few outside. The cakes and pastries fit in perfectly. A slice of cake was 3-3,5e but two slices were enough to fill the sweet tooth for the two of us.

For gluten-free eaters this place is a must! Even the brunch is totally gluten-free, bio and vegan.

We visited the Saturday brunch and were really happy that we did. Large variety of different dishes and small sweets made from fresh ingredients. The only thing was that there was not even mini pieces of cakes and pastries which were in the glass-vitrine. The dessert section in brunch was tasty, but not as good as the glass-vitrine delicacies.

The staff were really friendly and helpful and we felt welcomed when we came here for the first time.

Pros: Gluten-free, bio, vegan, Unspeakably delicious, Helpful and friendly staff

Cons: A bit pricey, Dessert section in brunch

amazing brunch - Edit

We went to have brunch there before leaving Berlin and I'm so happy we did it!
The place is very cozy and carefully decorated. There are tables outside as well, what was great on the hot day it was when we were there.
The brunch buffet was very good with different options. There were three warm options, salads, spreads, bread, and some different options like a cold peas-mint-coconut-milk-soup. There were also jams, fruits, cup cakes and some more sweet option. Everything possible for a perfect brunch!
I couldn't have missed the opportunity to try one of their tartes, so I took one broccoli-almond-tarte to eat later and OMG! It was so delicious!
I'm totally coming back next time I'm in Berlin!

Delicious Cakes! - Edit

Very creative cakes (a bit pricy side 3-3.5 euro) and lots of savory options as well. Quiche, flammkuchen.. French specialties veganized! I would like to try the brunch next time. Cozy place and has free wifi so nice place to take a rest.

Pros: tasty, free wifi, friendly

Cons: pricy

Great brunches! - Edit

I have come here many times, and I especially recommend the brunches on Saturdays and Sundays. You can try many different savory and sweet options. All of them very tasty, vegan and gluten free, what else?!
Out of the brunch time, they offer very good quiches, cakes and a big variety of coffees.
It might be a bit pricey (12€ brunch + coffee between 1,5 and 2,80) but taking into account the quality of the food, the ingredients themselves (bio, vegan and gluten free) and that you can spend as long as you want during the brunch, it is highly recommendable.

Pros: Very good food, Everything vegan, Gluten free brunch

Cons: They're a bit slow with the coffees

Healthy Brunch - Edit

Enjoyed Sunday brunch at this cafe for 11 euros. Selection of savory and sweet options: mini crepes, salad, stuffed mushrooms, sauted potatoes, tacos, bread/jam, mini desserts. The menu is posted in advance on their Facebook page. Also had a great coffee and chocolate cake. Friendly service, not too crowded and plenty of seating. Located 1/4 mile from trainstop in nontourist area. Would definitely visit again when we come back to Berlin.

Pros: Quiet, friendly cafe, Variety of options

Indulgent...!! - Edit

We visited Ohlala once on our trip as there was so much choice around the city- loved their quiche and the cakes were also good (but not the best i've ever had, but that's my taste and opinion!). Very indulgent, a good variety of treats and the staff were lovely and helpful.

Pros: nice atmosphere, friendly staff, variety

Oh-ha - Ohlala - Edit

WOW, after a long search we eventually found Ohlala - and I must say, this was the best place we visited in Berlin - for afternoon teas

We had quiche, crepes and cakes - and they were all delicious!!!

Especially the "Tresor"! This is the best piece of Patisserie I've eaten outside of France AND vegan.
Service... well, what can I say, I'm married but - Ohlala - perfect and French ;-) But also the young guy, very nice - thanks for making the effort for searching for a Tresor because the last two were bought away right in front of my eyes - horror - but backup was on its way...

The quality is outstanding and The Wife also had a Crepes which I got to try - also outstanding.

Pros: Quality & Taste, Quality & Taste, Quality & Taste

Cons: too small, not in Hamburg, not in France

By submitting this post you agree to HappyCow Terms

delightful! - Edit

We thoroughly enjoyed our gourmet and decadent treats. I have a chocolate pyramid filled with delectable peanut butter mousse. The star though was the the hazelnut chocolate creation that reminded me of a vegan Ferrero Roche chocolate. The only constructive feedback is the espresso could be better.

French vegans! quelle bonne suprise! - Edit

ok so excuse the the title please but Iḿ only just getting used the the fact that Germany and Berlin especially has become super vegan friendly! I remember coming here in the 80,s and being treated like real outsiders for being vegan! So to discover a French vegan outlet in Berlin is like a double whammy of unexpected pleasure (because France used to a nightmare for vegans!)
Anyway I digress, this place is rather hip and trendy but its also nice and clean and friendly and the food is great. We tried the mushroom quiche which was exquisite and various sweets which were different and interesting and sweet! Iĺl be going back again to try the crepes. Not cheap but worth every euro. The quiche came with an xcellent large salad with a lovely sauce/dressing.

Pros: Different food to elseewhere, not too expensive, Good food

Cons: tea pot was small

Lovely quiche and salad, cakes TO DIE FOR - Edit

I had a quiche and salad there recently - which was beautiful. Even gluten-free! The salad was great with seeds and a nice dressing - not cucumber and a few lettuce leaves! Then we went back on Saturday for cakes. Oh my. The best, lightest gluten-free cakes I've had in... ever? Amazing quality, presentation, and friendly staff. I moved not too far away so they will be seeing me not infrequently...
Prices were quite fair, too. A gluten-free quiche and salad came to 6.70 EUR (more because it was gluten-free), the cakes were 3 EUR.

I feel the above needs a little emphasis: I've now been there a few times, and each time the cakes have been truly amazing. I had the Trésor today. Truly amazing. Best cake ever in my life! Soup was good today, too!

Pros: Excellent food, Gluten-free options, Best cakes ever!

yummmm!! - Edit

This place has amazing crepes! Unfortunately, they no longer make waffles, but the food here is great! Coffee isn't too bad either :-)

Pros: very friendly staff, amazing crepes, outdoor seating

Cons: could use a little more shade outside

went this morning - Edit

I just went there this morning. Got a crepe with mushrooms and a almond milk cafe latte. Took one bite of the crepe and could not eat it at all. The crepe was cold and rubbery, filled with mushrooms in a sauce with way too much mustard. Seriously, it was inedible. So I thought I would at least drink the latte - it was cold and tasted bad. I don't know how you make a coffee taste bad, but it was terrible - way too large, not hot, without much foam. I took a few sips, paid, and left. A waste of nearly 7 euros - you can get a good vegan meal in Berlin for that kind of money.

our favourite in berlin - Edit

I spent 5 days in Berlin back in August and of all the vegan places I visited, this was my favourite. We had a broccoli, cheese and almond crepe, a potato and onion quiche and a spinach flammkuchen with a ridiculously large salad and scrummy bowl of lentil and veggie soup. All of it was lovely and the mock cheese even melted a little and tasted really good. We also had a choice of plant milks to have in our hot chocolate and these were even topped with squirty cream! Unfortunately, we went too late for any deserts, but we went away with all smiles after some great service and some viel lecker Essen! Danke from England :D

C'est magnifique - LOVE it! - Edit

I'm a fussy cow, so I'm overjoyed to say that Ohlala is the best vegan restaurant I've ever been to - on a par with Shoreditch Saf (RIP) but with better ambiance and more variety and adventure.

Ohlala has cute, retro French styling, alt music, animal acivist posters and delicious, beautifully presented food. Saturday brunch buffet is amazing value and includes delights such as blinis with beetroot carpaccio, coffee creme brulee, strawberry rice quenelles, pates, tofu in cream sauce, grain mustard mash and an unexpectedly delightful raw courgette "pasta". Everything looks and tastes fantastic and unlike many vegan offerings, isn't full of over-processed, wind-provoking products or jaw-ache rawism. The non-buffet cakes and tarts also looked absolutely mouth-watering, but unfortunately I was too full to partake. The brunch is not surprisingly, very popular so make sure you get there early!

Pros: Delicious, beautiful food, Lovely decor and ambiance, True to vegan activism

- Edit

Wanted to go there for brunch on Saturday and as one of the reviews stated that it was totally packed, we arrived there at 11.50, 10 minutes before what we thought was the opening time. However when we got there it was already completely full and we couldn't make any reservations for later. Obviously they open earlier than 12 'o clock but it's not mentioned anywhere. So, that was traveling for an hour for nothing.
Otherwise, the place looked nice and if I get the chance I will try to go there again.

Cons: Opening times incorrect, No website

Ohlala! - Edit

This is one of my new favorites! It's very unique, very cute (think of an imaginary pink Paris with walls), very "homelike" feel at the same time, slightly vintage, affordable (but with a high standard of quality ingredients), friendly; and the food here is Scrumptious! I've had the Saturday Brunch and it was delicious (I'm not sure what each and every item was, as I was rushy and took the food back to my flat without asking, as it looks like a popular place for brunch, because there were no tables left for me to sit at - sigh). Everything was really tasty and satisfying. Everything is made from scratch with care, just like you would find in a small french patisserie. The staff is particularly helpful too. I have been here on Sundays also. I typically get quiche and sweet tortes with a latte (I make sure I get a few goodies to take home too!). I have yet to try some of their savoury crepes, but I'm making it a point to do that this week:) I would highly recommend it.

Real French patisserie, vegan style! - Edit

Three vegetarian/vegan friends from different parts of the world meet up in Berlin for a mini holiday. Bags are dropped off and we head straight to OhLaLa for their Saturday buffet. I had been eyeballing their Facebook page for a few weeks and knew we had to go there ASAP.

The cafe is small and cute and cozy. The staff were very helpful in getting caffeine-free tea for my friends. And then it was on to the food!

Oh my days we were in Heaven! We slathered homemade nutella on everything. The chocolate mousse was one of the best desserts we have ever had, closing our eyes and just letting it melt in the mouth! And I still dream about gnocchi with mustard seeds. I must find a recipe to try and make it!

We bought a vegan broccoli quiche to take with us for later, also nice.

I've been back twice since then for their gorgeous looking desserts, only to discover they were closed! (Internet access was tricky, so I didn't check ahead of time).

Pros: Homemade, Delicious, Atmosphere

Cons: Needs to be open more days

Oh là là! - Edit

I am so happy this place is 100% veggie now. They have a decent choice of daily changing vegan and vegetarian tartes and quiches. Some are savoury, some are sweet. The sweet ones even come with vegan whipped cream.
Everything we tried so far was delicious and at good value - a tarte with a well-sized salad topped with sunflower seeds and mustard sauce is costs less than 5€.
The two very friendly and helpful French girls running the place have done a good job making this cafe an authentic French cafe with a personal touch. It's got a nice atmosphere. People drop by to read the newspaper or to enjoy the sun at one of the small tables outside.
It would be so good if this place was totally vegan.

The only drop of bitterness is - as often - that hot drinks are 30 cents more expensive if you choose to have them with soya milk instead of cow's milk.

Pros: fresh, vegan-friendly food, friendly staff, good value

Cons: extra pay for soya milk
