Fabulous!

I went here tonight for the first time, having heard good things about it. I wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent, tasty and authentic. We had a filling meal and a drink for just over £20 per person. Next time I'll be trying the set menus which looked really interesting. Definitely one of my favourites in London.

Pros: Great food, Lots of choice, Central location

Cons: None

Delicious

Great range of vegan Japanese food, with quite a few gluten free options. Great lunch deal, £14 for main and side! I ordered the gyoza and tofu udon, both were delicious.

Great food

Fully vegan place which means you don’t have to worry about what you can’t have, and feast on all the yummy options that you can! Portions aren’t overly filling but means you can try plenty out where a group of us has a ramen each and 5 tapas/ small dish options to share, then might have pushed out to try a second ramen before calling it a day and letting pudding go.. worth going to for sure.

Pros: Fully vegan , Tasty food , Great selection

Perfect

A warm welcome, good service and wonderful Japanese vegetarian food. Easier to find a Japanese veggie restaurant in London than in Japan itself! 🙂
Something else: the waiter forgot about our spring rolls. No problem for him, we were offered them for free. That’s what we call service…

Pros: Very tasteful food for its price., Good atmosphere.

Cosy Japanese Vegan Restaurant

I was just passing on the other side of the road this lunchtime and happened to notice it, and that it was completely vegan. I then discovered it has a wine list as well. I think they said they have been open 12 years fully vegan, so they are well-established and I hope they won't disappear. I can't imagine they will.

I was a bit shocked by the prices at first - I've been used to Itsu! But I think for what it is, its service and its ambience, it is more than worth it. It is relaxing, the service is discreet and friendly. They also sell a few jars and packets.

It has a set lunchtime menu, starter and main for £14. But I had all starters - tofu steak, cucumber kimchi, miso soup and white rice, with a bottle of Fentimans sparkling elderflower.

There is an eclectic mix of calm and interesting music. I don't know what is on now but the lyrics are intelligent.

Pros: Nice food, service and decor, Good location on Kings Cross Road near station, Intimate

Cons: None I can think of

Birthday Meal

Went for my birthday with a number of friends. Tried different ways to contact them about the booking because I had a question. In the end we just had to turn up. Very friendly service. All Japanese staff, at least front of house. Lots of delicious choices. Though the people who had donburi said theirs was a little plain

Not as good as I had hoped

I have to be honest, I was a little more than underwhelmed by my experience here. On paper an all Vegan Japanese restaurant should be a total winner but the small portions, cheap veg, bland tasting spices, and stingy amount of tofu made this place disappointing, especially since London is full of places to eat. I could mention the price too but I was expecting it to be a lot due to its location. Overall even I could have cooked better than this at home.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly staff, Fast service

Cons: Bland unauthentic tasting, Small portions for the price, Underwhelming

Excellent Japanese food

I have been to Itadakizen various time s over the years and it never disappoints. Delicious, fresh japanese food with great ingredients. The staff are always very friendly and the service quite quick. The only thing I’d say is that the lunch menu can be a bit limiting sometimes but I think the dinner menu is bigger. Also , they don’t seem to have natto (fermented soya beans) , my favourite Japanese dish!

Pros: Delicious food , Great ingredients , Decently priced

Cons: Smallish menu for lunch , No natto!

Very good vegan japanese restaurant

Some items on the menu are out of this world and the service is friendly and swift. Some plates were just ok but maybe I just don't have the right palate for the flavours.

Small: Better reserve table 🇯🇵

Friendly, small place close to St. Pancras & King's Cross train stations. Ni seats outside. Around 20 seats, so better reserve.

Tasty Japanese Tapas

I went here on my London trip a few months back. The place was small and only had indoor seating for about 20 people. We shared the white rice (2£), nanbanzuke (6£), vegan kaarage (8£), harumaki (6£), tofu & mushroom croquette (9£) and chapche (10£). Everything tasted great.

Really good food

We ordered some tapas as starters which were amazing and I also really enjoyed the spicy ramen. Service was a bit chaotic but everything was fine and staff also very friendly.

Pros: Tapas were great, Nice ramen

Cons: Space was a bit cramped

Turning Japanese

Really enjoyed our recent visit to Itadakizen, where we shared the spicy ramen, japanese curry and rice, gyozas and tofu steak from the set lunch menu (£14 pp).

The ramen was packed full of flavour and perfectly spiced, whilst the gyozas and tofu steaks were excellent, with each accompanied by a delectable sauce. The curry was also very flavourful and made from more than 10 vegetables and spices, although the texture may divide opinion. Personally, I liked it but my partner wasn't too keen.

We also got a lovely glass of red wine, a smoothie and a sasou tea, with the latter very refreshing indeed. Staff and atmosphere were lovely and I will definitely visit again.

Brilliant food!

Visited this place on a whim. I love Asian food and to find a fully vegan Japanese restaurant was just amazing!
Food was delicious and far exceeded my expectations.
The staff were very polite and welcoming.
I will definitely be back to try the dinner menu.

Pros: Amazing food, Polite staff, Great service

Cons: Slightly cramped, but just a nitpick

Big dissapointment

I try here every 5 years. Went recently. Slow, chaotic service and food really below par. Cramped space also. Oily and unpleasant was our experience.

Good lunch

After a week in Wales this was by far the best food we had ;)

But keep in mind that options are a bit more limited for lunch.
We had a creamy ramen bowl with gyoza and the udon noodles with tempura and broccoli. The sides (broccoli and gyoza) were okay but nothing exceptional.
The creamy ramen however was quite tasty. The udon noodles was not really our thing, however the tempura was tasty.

Service was very quick but seems we were lucky to get a spot, just passing by.
