Really nice food

The food here is very good, and food always tastes better when you're at an all-vegan restaurant. There's a lot of choices and on weekdays lunches the prices are very reasonable.

Pros: Good food, Nice lunch prices

Just like Japan

I was surprised to find a Japanese restaurant that tastes like it could be in Japan. Delicious food and desserts with a lovely setting. Service was okay, but it took a long time to get tea or a teapot refill.

Cons: slow tea service

Variety is the spice of life...

Had a lovely dinner here with my mum and partner. Glad I booked in advance. Food was well made, prompt and friendly service. This place deserves the rating and if I'm ever craving Asian food... I know exactly where to go :)

Pros: Nice Vibe, Good portions, Good service

Cons: Limited Seating space, a bit pricey

Amazing Tempura & noodles

Love this place! Really tasty food and lovely staff. Visited recently and tried the tempura which was crispy and salty and a good variety of veggies, the okara (fried tofu and veggie balls) which were really tasty and we both had tofu noodle bowls which were awesome! The broth was delicious and the tofu was really tasty too, combined with chewy fat noodles it was heaven. The plum wine was really tasty too would definitely recommend that!

Love this place

So nice to come here when I'm in London. It's healthy and comforting food I look forward to each time. I like to get the udon, seaweeds, and green beans, but everything has always been good.

Pros: healthy, satisfying

Cons: little pricy

Simple but Yummy

Visited for dinner, and we had the Tempura Course set.

The food was simple but delicious, with the same taste as if you'd have it in Japan (except perhaps for the sushi, which could have had a bit of wasabi).

The staff was friendly and the service was good.
Booking a table in advance is highly recommendable.

Pros: authentic japanese

Cons: none

Amazing food, great atmosphere

I got the sushi. I think each were infused with a different flavour - I can't remember what they all were but I remember one was garlic. Amazing. My friends' food were amazing too.

I booked for one person because I didn't know if my friends could come but they found a place for the three of us to sit. We were seated at the bar underground with a pretty cool vibe to the whole thing. They also had brilliantly terrible cover songs of classics such as Bohemian Rhapsody playing and the three of us were entertained all evening trying to guess what on earth the songs were supposed to be. The music was perhaps the highlight of the whole experience hahaha.

Pros: Amazing food, Great astmosphere, Friendly staff.

Cons: It is busy so book in advance

It's ok

Not impressed. Given the poverty of flavours in the traditional Japanese cuisine it's difficult to make good Japanese vegan food. The udon noodles with tofu had no taste at all. And the price is fairly outrageous.

Pros: None

Cons: Too expensive. Better go to nearby Mildred's if yo

A special place

Itadaki Zen provides authentic Japanese food (as far as I can tell) and an authentic setting, and that's a rare thing in Europe.
There is not much space, so be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointments, since it's often full, too.
There are splendid set menus to choose from, in addition to that plenty of side dishes - you can order some of them and share, if you are there with other people. Everything is being freshly prepared (lunch is fairly quick though), so you might need to wait a bit. The portions aren't very big though.
Their udon is wonderful - their beer so-so.
The atmosphere is lovely, you feel really at home.
And on top of that: Everything is vegan, that's remarkable for a Japanese restaurant, I can't give them enough credit for that!

Pros: authentic, very friendly atmosphere and people, great food

Cons: crowded, expensive

So good! a must have for Japanese food lovers!

Small place, packed to the rim with dinners. Not exactly in a prime location in London, so you will have to get there especially, but sooooo worth it!

Waiters have very basic english and you truly feel like you are in Japan.

And the food, oh the food, is to die for. Not only insanely pretty dishes, but so delicious!

A must!

Wonderful Experience

We absolutely loved this restaurant. There is such a variety of side dishes and set meals that it makes it difficult to choose, and it is almost inevitable that one orders too much. That said, everything we tasted was lovely, with lots of interesting and fun things to try.

This place should definitely be on the "to do" list if in London, but make sure you book a table in advance: We had booked for a Saturday at 18.00 (we were hanging on the door at opening time), and within half an hour the place was almost full.

Pros: Vegan restaurant, Wide variety of things to taste

Great value lunch deals. I normally go for the tempura bento but recently tried the sushi for a change. Really delicious.

Pros: Lunch deals, Handy location - close to Kings X

Cons: Small space (but normally not too busy at lunch)

excellent dinner

Small but very cozy place with wooden interiors and a quiet, laid back atmosphere. Food is beautifully presented and tastes great. Wide choice of dishes that won't make you miss the traditional japanese tastes. Attentive service.

Real Izakaya experience

The ambience and the food make you feel you are at traditional Izakaya, which I had not experienced as a vegan, and I absolutely loved. The menu has many options from nigiri to donburi bowls to bento boxes and even tapas to share. My choice was a very generous bento box. The flavour was good but not mind-blowing. The service was appalling and the waitresses had zero knowledge of the food items. That said, they were super friendly so bless them. The cheesecake dessert my friend had was delicious but my "house cake" was the most boring food item I ever had at a restaurant, so don't ask for it.
Overall, I would go again because everything is organic, refined sugar free, mostly gluten free and cooked with love.

Pros: ambience, traditional Japanese food, organic

Cons: bad service

Nice varied Japanese menu

An interesting varied menu, lots of good stuff. There's nothing that directly replaces the "fishy flavours" (sushi, sashimi) you would see in a standard sushi place, but the variety and flavour is good nonetheless. The waiting staff were a bit incompetent and not particularly sorry about it.

Pros: Varied menu, Nice atmos

Cons: Service was disorganised
