Little India's jewel
Aangan is located in the little india segment of West Footscray. It consistently good, the service is lovely and vegan options happily offered.
We have been there for an occasion, and also on random other occasions. They cater for omnis equally as well - there are no complaints.
Just make sure you make a booking - they do get very busy.

Inspired food & awesome coffee
The Admiral has already got quite a crowd following. When I got there on a Saturday lunch time there was a queue waiting for a table and about a 20 minute wait.
Service is friendly. The menu is interesting with items such as zucchini fritters, quinoa pancakes. Coffee is really, really good. The food is presented beautifully and tastes fabulous.
It's a bit noisy, and people are packed in. But it's all part of the experience.
Currently it is cash only, but I believe the card machine is on it's way.

This is the kind of asian food that features loads of mock meat and not really vegetables. It would be nice to have it the other way around, but if you like the mocks then this may suit you. The food was basicly OK, and servings a good size, prices reasonable. Service was the feature that stood out to me, very attentive and helpful staff and not a bad place to sit!

Vegan Smiles all around!
There is a wide variety to chose from. Mostly organic. Some are suitable for the freezer. They do also vary quite a bit in taste and texture, so if you don't like one type try another!
I like the almond, chilli, rosemary garlic one. It's herby and great with crackers. But, it is to personal taste. I know some people love the bocconcini type one the best, which I do not enjoy.
AVS is all about a vegan smile - knowing that you too, can now serve gourmet cheese for your guests, or even just for your own indulgence.
Sold at markets, shops and online and averages about $10 an item.

Enjoyable cafe experience
Really enjoyed my lunch visit to Azul. Went there with a non-veg friend, and we both had plenty of options on the menu.
The service was awesome, the vibe was cool and coffee was great! Burger was delicious. Also they were only to happy to accommodate a pram. Had vegan dessert, a healthy-ish chocolate seed slice.
On busy Bridge Road, it's a definite destination.

Delightful for vegans everywhere
Bakers Delight is a chain of bakeries. It's very convenient because they are everywhere! I like the apple and walnut scroll, but the chia seed rolls are also nice for something not so sweet. Of course there are breads and some of the seasonal breads (hot cross rolls for example) may be vegan as well.

A little piece of Thailand in Carlton
We visited Bangkok Rain about a week after coming back from Thailand. It felt like we had never left.
Service was friendly and welcoming. Loved the full vegetarian menu - with so many choices! We had a selection of dishes including entrees and a durian dessert.
Great spot to share with omnis - they can chose to not order from the vegetarian menu. Although in my experience, they are satisfied to order what we're having!
Food was excellent we all agreed. Prices are good, parking is around and it is BYO wine as well as licensed.

Cute little cafe
I really enjoyed my vegan big breakfast at this place! The scrambled tofu was very tasty. Sitting in the food court, listening to some live jazz on a busy Saturday morning after doing some shopping is not a bad way to start the weekend!!

Great vegan breakfast
Had the scrambled tofu here one fine morning. It was lovely, a large serving and quite tasty.
I agree with one of the other reviews on here though, the service is not all that warm and welcoming. The tables and ambience inside is ok, and there is also outdoor seating.
There is a range of vegan friendly sweets to be had I noticed. I sampled a slice with coffee on a separate visit. The coffee is a bit average and I was thankful to have a sweet vegan option, which happened to also be sugar free and (I think) gluten free. Not such an unhealthy choice!
This cafe backs onto the shop, or is infront of the shop, depending on which way you approach. The shop has a wide range of all things organic.

Hmm Asian style
I like this place. Staff are friendly, plenty on the menu and the food is nice. What more could you want?

Well, I suppose they knew what a vegan was!
After spending some time around Canada, I was relieved to see that I didn't have to explain what a vegan was. Finding a vegan option, well, that was a little bit more difficult! Fancy having vegan burgers, with non-vegan bread! Very disspointing options, salad anyone? I found the service was friendly, the food was good, but I wouldn't recommend it to fellow vegans.

We went there for lunch one Saturday. Loads of locals wandered in and clearly had their favorites, and new the staff. The ambience is lovely, with Japanese themed wood work and different teas on display. The tea I had was amazing! They have a smallish lunch menu, and I felt we were a little disadvantaged because they didn't know us! We ordered an entree and a laksa, and both were good. The serving sizes could have been bigger, and it was not cheap. Still, good to have an option for interesting food in the country.

Not just a Caterpillar's Dream!
The range of food available at this cafe is wide - not just a lot of options, but different styles as well. You may chose a number of small dishes and graze, or one of the many cakes from the display with coffee (some of which are vegan), a Bento box, a sizzling hot plate, pasta, soup or salad...see what I mean? Service is friendly, prices are a little on the expensive side, but the food is good. I had the bento box with roast duck today, which was something like amazing. Vegan and gluten free items are marked on the vast menu and you may even have a vegan dessert such as the sticky date pudding...you'll defintely need more than one visit to sample.

Wholesome bread, naughty treats
Crumbs can be found in Ascot Vale and North Melbourne. I love it! Donuts are beautiful, with real jam and fillings. Also there are plenty of other sweet options, including muffins and cake. I had a lemon and blueberry cake the other day with coffee and it really did hit the spot. Not too sweet, but sweet enough.
The breads are beautiful too, with loads of choices and heavy breads.
It's a regular of mine, consistently good food. The service is usually friendly, but sometimes not...

Historic pub with vegan menu
Gasometer has a whole vegan section to select from. It has a nice ambience, good service and bar. They use a seperate fryer for vegan food.
I ordered a vegan strudel with roast vegetables on the side. The vegetables were amazing, cooked to perfection and you would not guess the strudel was vegan with the 'cheese' inside, served with a creamy dip.
Great place, good location - I'd recommend it for a night out, especially if you are dining with non-vegos, as they can chose from the meat section (if they can go past the vegan one).

All vegan fast food
We visite Il Gobbo in the first week of it opening. It didn't have signage out the front, but I knew if was out in front of a tattoo parlour, so we wandered in.
The menu features burgers, hot dogs and chips as well as spaghetti, lasagne, nachos and burritos. Our food was fresh and tasty.
Service was attentive, and they were keen to hear our thoughts.
Very excited to have a new vegan cafe in Melbourne, as long as they continue the freshness and service I am sure they will do well.

Some good vegan options
Nice place to hang out with a range of reading material. Coffee was excellent. Lots of food options, however I was there on a Monday for a late lunch, and the kitchen had closed at 12.00! They close it early on a Monday, (2pm other days). I was still able to have one of thier pre-prepared meals, which was very tasty and innovative. Salad on the side serving was really small though, so felt a little ripped off. Didn't note any vegan sweets, which would have been a nice addition with the coffee. The staff were not very friendly or helpful, and I felt that I had disturbed them from thier party- with non-peaceful music whilst the cafe 1/3 full.

if you are gonna have fries...
you have to have these fries! THe burgers are pretty good as well. They have spicey and regular patties, and of course you can have it all vegan. Great for meat eaters too, as it shows them we are not all mung bean loving (although I may be) freaks (which I may be as well!) Vegetarian food can be fast food, tasty and interesting!
