A new Favourite! - Edit
Offers a huge menu of vegan austrian cuisine. We usually don't order starters but there were so many delicious options that we just had to. There is Kaiserschmaren and Sacher Torte for desert and both are absolutely perfect. The main dishes we had were great and the meat replacement for the austrian dishes were good although distictively different from meat (which was a good thing for us).

Great for traditional Viennese food - Edit
Small restaurant and service was a little slow, but the food was excellent. I got an appetizer of soup, which was pretty good, but the star was the vegan schnitzel and potato salad. Both really delicious. I sampled the entrées of the other people in my group and they were both delicious as well. I also vegan sachertorte that was good, but a little dense. I would suggest getting a reservation, although we were able to get in without one.

Excellent Viennese cuisine - Edit
Very nice schnitzel and Zwiebelrostbraten. I liked the “steak” much more than the ones from planted, so glad they don’t use that here😄the potato salad was also very tasty. The Sacher was decent but can be improved, it lacked some kind of richness. The styling of the restaurant is not very nice, hope they can improve that in the future.

100% recommended Viennese-style restaurant! Not a huge fan of the starters but the mains were to die for, I got goulasch and schnitzel. The sacher was also incredible and this is the only place I found a vegan one in Vienna.

Velani think that covering glutenous fake meat in gravy counts as a goulash. It doesn't.

Service was slow, we had to remind them of what we'd ordered.
There are loads of amazing veggie restaurants in Vienna - you can miss this one.

Read moreAs for the food: tastes are known to differ - we're proud that our schnitzel was recently voted Austria's favourite at the 1000things Award and a lot of guests are amazed by our vegan take on goulash.
Regarding the service: Unfortunately, one of our team members was unexpectedly absent over the weekend, and another was on holiday - we were only able to organize a temporary replacement, which affected our usual flow. We're truly sorry for the incovenience.

Typical Austrian food - all vegan. The only thing I don’t like is the interior “design” which looks like a mess. But the Food is tasty and the staff is nice and that’s what matters.

We had a starter from the specials menu which was all asparagus based, had deep fried asparagus with a lovely garlic aoili. Tried the schnitzel with potato salad and the onion bake with roast potato. All delicious, good price and friendly staff. We did reserve a table but there were still a few tables free by 6/7pm on a weeknight

Great service, delicious food, and great drinks! Has a great selection of traditional Austrian dishes that are made vegan. I had to get the filet mignon which was incredible, veggies were fresh, red wine glaze was delicious, and the “steak” unbelievable.

Best vegan restaurant in Vienna - Edit
If you‘re visiting Vienna and can only go to one Restaurant, is has to be Velani. We‘ve been here almost every weekend for the past month, tasted nearly every item on the menu and were not disappointed even once. We also brought some omni-friends who were amazed as well. This is THE place to go in Vienna.

Velani has successfully brought a variety of Austrian Food into the vegan spectrum. And tastewise, there's nothing to complain about. Tastes just like I remember the "originals". The portion sizes aren't too big or too small, they're just right.

Veganized Viennese classics - Edit
Really appreciated the opportunity to try some Viennese staples, but veganized! I do wish there had been a bit more "meat" to the schnitzel (which was largely just very well cooked breading) but it was still tasty and my husband really enjoyed his Kummelbräten with potato dumplings and sauerkraut. I didn't particularly love the sauce with that dish, but I think that is more of a personal taste issue as it seemed to follow the traditional recipe.

We were excited to finally have traditional Austrian dishes again but in vegan, however our experience was a bit of a mixed bag.... The Cordon Bleu lacked strong flavor and felt somewhat underwhelming, which was disappointing. I honestly expected more for 23€/portion! On the other hand, the Zwiebelrostbraten was a real highlight! The salad was great as well! Overall, it was a decent experience 👍🏼

Really nice atmosphere. Service was excellent and very friendly. They have a big menu with a variation of traditional austrian dishes, we had the gulash and the onion roast beef. Food was good and we had a nice evening.
