I like that they serve local cusine. The menu is wide with plenty of options. It's a shame that I was alone because I couldn't try too much. It's a bit pricey but worth it😄The staff was also friendly and the portions were big.

We went here before taking the night train back, so we wanted a hearty filling meal. The food was wonderful, classic Viennese food but all vegan! It felt like a typical family restaurant. Wonderful place for a big lunch or dinner!

Viennese/Austrian cuisine is based on meat and dairy, which is why I had never tried many of our local dishes. I'm still not a fan of the local cuisine, but I am very impressed by Velani and will definitely go back again. Thank you Velani for giving me the opportunity to try dishes I should have grown up with.

Schnitzel, Filet Mignon, Spare Ribs, breaded and fried cheese, „beef“ tartare (eggplant-based), Gulasch, caraway roast,…. Over the years I had the pleasure to enjoy probably 80% of the menu and I was NEVER disappointed. This is hearty, mostly Austrian, cuisine, veganized with love.

For my personal taste, the clear broths could use a bit more salt, but that’s not a reason at all to deduct a star😄

Eine vegane Auswahl an klassischen Österreichischen/Deutschen Speisen wie Zwiebelrostbraten mit Knödeln etc. die keine Wünsche mehr offen lässt. Vor allem die Auswahl an pflanzlichen Nachtischen hat mich wirklich sehr überzeugt. Für mich gab es Tiramisu.

Great concept by making Austrian traditional food plant based, however the food is lacking. Viener schnietzel was OK at best, with the side order of potato salad very delicious. Fries just plain, nothing special. The gulasch with knodels was not good at all. Gulasch was mainly just tomato sauce with some platky stakes. Knodels were oily and stale.

We had the Wiener Schnitzel, the Cordon Bleu and the Kaiserschmarren. Everything was very tasty, but the breading on the schnitzel and cordon bleu crumbled off on the first cut.

Have they not heard of salt? - Edit
We went here with high expectations. The menu and the pictures looked good, and there are so many good reviews. However, as soon as we got our food, we were very disappointed. It's as if they didn't put salt in their food. If this is a conscious decision of the chef, they should put that on the menu. But like this the food was just pretty bad. We wanted to like it, but just couldn't.

Thanks for the honest feedback. You're right, since the WHO only recommends 5g of salt per day, but average consumption is far above this amount, we don't add much salt to our food. However, we always bring salt and pepper to the table upon request; after all, tastes differ. Re-salting is easy, but food that is too salty has to be returned. Well because I don’t think I would like authentic Viennese food if I ate meat either. Nothing against the cuisine, it’s just lacking a bit in spice and flavor for me.
