Disappointing but good value on budget - Edit
50 kips for buffet. Good value, yes. My strategy was to taste many and return for seconds with what I liked. Did not return even though I was very hungry. The food left such a horrible after taste for 2 hours. Cheap yes but rather pay more. Sorry.

Good Food - Edit
A very basic stall with not much signage. Next to a fried fish stall. About half way down the alley way next to Indigo House.
Read moreThe stall holder states no egg, no milk, no chilli and everything looked as stated.
All food is tepid as more is cooked when the serving dishes are empty. Just ask for the food to be reheated and it will be done in a wok.
50000 kip / 2.5 usd a plate. Vegan Coconut Cakes at 10000 kip also in the alley. Maybe open during night market hours.

Good food - Edit
Many vegetarian options. One plate is 40.000 kip (Nov 2023) and you can fill it up with everything they have (e.g. spring rolls, different kind of noodles, curry, bean salad, ...). The food was good/great.

Just OK, but cheap - Edit
Not that good. Served cold. Meat served, but staff speaks good English and will point out the non-vegan options. Still a lot of vegan options. Lots of vegetables to choose from.

Delicious food! - Edit
The quality of the food at this buffet is much better than that of the buffet in the square with the large screen. It’s the same cost as the other buffet (30,000 kip per plate). Everything is flavourful and the noodles are cooked just right - nice and chewy! All the food for the few days that I have stopped by were vegan, but do check because they sometimes change the dishes day by day.

Cons: They run out of food quickly so go early!, The food is cold because it’s not freshly made, Only 1-2 dishes include protein

I wish I had noticed this one! I didn't even realise there were food stalls down this alley. Is it the one next to the palace with lots of fruit shakes?

No, the alley starts right next to Indigo Cafe! If you’re facing Indigo Cafe, it’s on the left and the first stall you see sells fruit.

Huh! I didn't even notice Indigo Cafe the whole time we were in Luang Prabang, even though it's obviously popular!

There are so many food vendors in front of it that it’s hard to see. The signage is not that loud on the ground floor so it’s easy to miss!
