Delicious Vegan Food - Edit

This place has a wide variety of foods to choose from including soups, pasta, more traditional Hungarian foods, seitan, veggies and more. I went at a busy time and found it a little overwhelming trying to choose what I'd like as people behind me also wanted to order but the choices I had were fantastic.
I started with a Thai Coconut soup as Hungarians always start their dinner with a soup. It was delicious. I also had a crumbed seitan patty/fillet and then a lasagna which was very creamy and had an almost cheesy texture. My non vegan friend enjoyed it a lot.
Service was friendly but a little rushed.
Atmosphere was busy but didn't feel too crowded. Upstairs seating is spacious enough.
I would return for sure.

Pros: Friendly staff, Wide range of food, All vegan

Cons: Gets very busy, A bit rushed when ordering

Busy, but hearty food - Edit

It was quite busy so you do have to queue for a bit to be served but it's all fast food, pre-prepared so once you're served it's fine.
The burgers are cold so do get them with some warm potatoes if it's cold outside.
Cakes were really hit and miss, we bought 4 varieties, the chocolate one was ok, vanilla one was nice, the fruit ones were awful. The texture is very weird.

Pros: Hearty food, Selection is good

Cons: Desserts weren't great, Busy, Space

Decent food at good location - Edit

The place is the former Lé Bar which has moved a few doors to a bigger place and changed its name, but the concept is pretty much the same. Tables on the main floor and on the gallery. The location of the place is perfect if You are a tourist and looking for something to eat in the city centre. It is very close to the synagogue.
Staff speaks English. In high season at around lunch time, tend to get very busy and hot inside.

The selection is nice, there is a daily menu - only one dish - at a fixed price, the rest is a mix of fixed prices and based on weigth. For health conscious vegans this place will be a heaven, for somone looking for spicy food and new flavours, welp I would say You might get disappointed. In my view the taste of the food is way to plane and spiceless to me.
Prices are okay in terms of European, international context. Daily menu at around 4 Euros, the rest is based on weight, so it hard to make a rough estimate since it depends how much You eat. If You are hungry and would like to get 3 courses and a drink then around 10-12 Euros.

Vegan Haven - Edit

I loved this cafe so much. I went as much as I could while I was in Budapest. Great variety of food, good price, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. This place has it all!

Pros: Variety of raw and gluten-free food, Amazing desserts, Great atmosphere

Nice place for glutenfree and vegan lunch - Edit

Friendly staff, nice ambiance, great food. And most important to me, they have glutenfree options. The staff was very helpful in explaining the ingredients in English.

Pros: budget, vegan, glutenfree options

Good food to eat in and to go - Edit

Had a fine lunch there. Very nice ambiance, especially upstairs.

Some of us had a selection of items. One way is to pick a bowl size and fill it with salads, fried vega-meat, etc., Some of us had burgers. All had deserts. All the food was good. Especially liked the deserts.

Really good option to get a selection to go for a picnic or for the next airplane or train ride.

And reasonably priced.

Pros: Nice ambiance, Good selection, Great for to go options

Buffet style restaurant - Edit

We came to Vega City at lunch time and it was incredibly busy. It was also very hot inside. The buffet is quite complicated, but the food was very good. All in all, Vega City is a nice place for a short stay.

Pros: good food, fair price

Cons: very busy, too hot

Great cakes for cheap! - Edit

Unfortunately I only had time to grab a slice of vegan cake here, but I was very satisfied with it! The place is right in the centre and easy to find. It has lots of space and changing menu. The cakes all looked so appealing, and there were even raw ones and ones without sugar. Really cheap price and tasty too! Suggested!

Pros: Cheap, Delicious

Cons: (None)

Lots of choice! Good food. - Edit

Loads of vegan options and really easy to find...the food was cheap and a
Good filler at lunch time. The staff couldn't really tell me with how the ordering process works...it works on weight!! If I had known this I would have ordered more!!! and tried some of the different options.

Pros: Cheap , Lots of options

Excellent, inexpensive food - Edit

I dropped by this place just before returning home.. In addition to checking out and acquiring a few more local specialities, I also took the opportunity to fill up a whole box with vegan food for my trip. I took a little bit of everything, and it was all equally good and tasty.
The only downside was the lack of ice cream (especially given the fact that we had 38 degrees), and that I had to wait due to a couple of previous customers who wouldn't make up their minds, they kept asking questions instead of actually ordering.

Good everyday vegan food - Edit

They have quite a lot of choice but since we were really hungry, we both took daily menu but it's nice that even there you can choose between a couple of options. The meal was simple and good. Almost all the drinks were "super drinks" but we got tap water upon request, which was really nice. Really inexpensive, could eat here everyday. Tried a bounty cake too which was ok but not mindblowing.

Pros: Lots of options, Good English and patience to explain, Inexpensive

Cons: No airconditioning or didn't work

Simple, Interesting, Vegan - Edit

I went here with my gf twice. First experience gets a 3 cow rating, second gets a 5 cow so it can vary. It is a very popular place not far from the river. The crowds and signs everywhere can get intimidating but speak to the staff, they're all nice enough and speak English.
Food was okay first time and great the second, they have a large array of choices including great smoothies and desserts.

Pros: Ideal for a quick bite, Great variety , Affordable

Cons: Confusing system, Too many signs

A good all rounder! - Edit

I loved Vega City! They had a large selection of smoothies, that you could have in a range of sizes. They also had pre-made cold burgers, where there was a selection of 4 different kinds, all sounding interesting but great. Then they had the buffet style bit where you could pick from a variety of things to have on your plate, or you could order something from the menu of the day. Lastly they had a section of desserts too! I think all their food was available to take away as well! I had a banana, date and rice milk smoothie, which was nice :) Also I had one of their cold burgers, which was amazing, and definitely didn't feel bad eating it cold. The food was really good value for money. I can understand why people would feel rushed here, as it gets very busy. We went just before the lunch rush, so we got a table, but come lunch time the queue was out of the door!

Pros: Great value for money

Cons: Not their fault but it gets super busy!

Okay - Edit

Food is cheap and tastes okay. Most of the people were friendly, but one girl was not and threw my change at me while i was very friendly and holding out my hand for the change. I was very surprised at this because I went before and it was not like that...

Pros: Cheap, some interesting food

Cons: very busy, not special, some unfriendly people

Disappointing - Edit

We visited Vegacity on a recent trip to Budapest and found it a little confusing – there are lots of different signs with dishes and information on but it is not immediately clear which of it you can order and we found a number of things that were on the boards were not actually available. Given the layout of the place (with a canteen style front that you move along while selecting your food with people with their trays behind you) it’s very easy to feel rushed while you are choosing, particularly as there were about 5 members of staff all staring at us as we walked down the line without doing much to try and help out.

There were burgers in the cabinet which we ordered, but we didn’t realize that these were intended to be served cold – they did offer to microwave them but we opted to have them cold anyway, but did not really enjoy them.

Our lack of Hungarian probably didn’t help, but I’m not sure what kind of place Vegacity is trying to market itself as and whatever it is it could do a better job of it.

Great variety and service - Edit

I'm happy with the variety of options at vega city. The price is also Very very good. They had everything from raw vegan to (I'd expect) ovo-lacto vegetarian. Service was good, the vegan pizza I had was a bit toooo dry for my taste, so much so I couldn't cut it with a fork and knife but had to chew on it... and in my salad was a HUGE rock that almost knocked off my tooth (can happen at any restaurant, but I'd suggest they take extra extra care to clean their salads) still service was friendly and forward, plenty of places to sit,and I think their food is good but merits some improvement. It was tasty anyway. I still recommend it, BUT needs some improvments

Pros: Seating, Price, variety

Cons: Rock in salad, Raw vegan pizza tooo dry

Disappointed - Edit

There is no buffet, there are no ice creams, the food isn't that good. As a vegan I feel cheated and think non-vegans who try this place may have a very bad opinion about veganism and vegan food. Furthermore, some of the employees aren't that friendly. FYI: diet and vegan Coke exist!!!!

Pros: Some employees smile, The place is not too loud, The wifi works well (using it now)

Cons: Food is not good, Some employees are ice cold, Expensive for Hungary

Schlechter Kuchen - Edit

Amazing! - Edit

My partner and I are so happy we found this place! Incredible food, so cheap. About 2 euro for a bowl of their daily curry, and about 3 euro for a burger. The place always has lots of people which is a great sign. Their quality food, great prices are encouraging people to try new foods and hopefully changing lots of mind frames!

Pros: Amazing food, Cheap , Friendly staff

Good selection and value for money - Edit

This place seemed to be very popular with tourists and locals alike. It has a wide selection of dishes and we were pretty stuffed! The food is fine for a basic lunch option when you are a travelling vegan but nothing out of the ordinary. The area is nice as you have several good coffee places in the vicinity too.

Pros: Good prices

Cons: Pretty ordinary taste - nothing extraordinary

amazing! - Edit

I'm a travelling vegan and found this place on here. It's a super quirky alternative place with daily changing menus. The staff speak English and proudly tell you 'everything is vegan' - I had a daily meal for 1100 and it was a curious mix of Hungarian foods. I just trusted them to pick for me. As a dessert I had vegan cocoa filled pancakes - to die for!

Pros: friendly staff, quirky atmosphere, value for money

Recommend - Edit

The food was quite good, it had different menus every day so it was very interesting. The portsions were normal, maybe food was a little bland, but not complayning. Acctually it was a bit pricey compared to other food places in Budapest, but still cheap.
You gotta try their burger, it was sooooo good

Pros: Tasty, Interesting

Cons: Small portions, Bit pricey compared to other

Not good... - Edit

This was the first restaurant I visited in Budapest, and it was a real disappointment. Service could have been much friendlier, and the food on offer at the counter did not really look interesting or appealing. I chose the lasagna and unfortunately, it was one of the worst vegan meals I have ever had. It tasted really bland and I couldn't finish it.
To give the restaurant another chance and because I was still hungry, I got a piece of chocolate cake. It tasted better, but it still wasn't really good as it was too watery.

The plus about this restaurant is its great location close to Kalvin tér and opposite of the National Museum. Moreover, it is really, really cheap.

I might have tried it again for another piece of cake, but unfortunately they are not open on the weekend.

Pros: Great location , Cheap prices

Cons: Bland food

no pets allowed - Edit

Very nice place, nice food and staff very friendly but they don't allow pets so we can't come back with one little member of our family....

Pros: good prices, tasty food and very fast service, well situaded, right across the street from Nation

Cons: no pets allowed

A nice variety of comfort and health foods - Edit

You can have both healthier (salads, mains, fresh juices) and comfort (burgers, fried veggies) foods.
The only reason I don't go more often is their opening times.

Worth of a visit! - Edit

As I stepped in to this newly opened restaurant, I had to take a moment to look around and smile: good looking, different kinds of food to choose from, the interior decoration had a good taste; especially those glass stairs. I chose spinatch"sauce" and a cake and both of them were really good. Reasonable price. At 11 o´clock it was still very quiet.

Pros: Beautiful interior decoration, Great food, Reasonable price

Vega City - Not Better a Pity - Edit

A large, busy and clearly popular place. You queue up and select items from behind the glass counter which are then plated up for you.

We didn't think the food we had was particularly great though. A bit bland and dull and lacking in anything that made it feel particularly special. It was okay.

Pros: Good value, Clean and modern restaurant

Cons: Dull food

All vegan, all delicious - Edit

The staff spoke english well enough to explain that everything they had that day was completely vegan. I had green bean stew and little fried seitan chunks which was divine! We also got a raw carrot cake type thing that was delicious and vegan fagylait. It's served cafeteria style in a quaint and stylish little cafe.

Pros: affordable, convenient

Fantastic value - Edit

Excellent selection of completely vegan dishes and luckily for us the staff spoke English. I had an aubergine and tomato-cream bake which had a delicious rice-base and I had a small mustardy seitan slice with it. My husband had a vegetable and bulgar-wheat risotto dish with a dreamy lemony sauce and he added a 'meat' patty which was crispy and satisfyingly naughty (a bit like my husband). We couldn't resist a scoop each of vegan ice-cream - zingy strawberry for me and an exotic poppy-seed flavour for him - mine was the best.

We sat upstairs and watched everyone getting their food - it all looked amazing. Menu changes daily and there are about 6 main courses plus sides to choose from every weekday.

Water was free and the whole meal and ice-cream came to just over 2500HUF (about £7). The atmosphere was relaxed and as we're in Budapest for a week and might just go every day!

Pros: Huge choice, Friendly staff, Plenty of seating

Cons: Not open weekends
