Good selection

They have a variety of different foods and the menue changes every day. I went there two times, one time for lunch and one time for cake. The lunch was okay. I had the Indian dish and for me, it was not very filling and soon I got hungry again. My friends ordered other dishes (the hungarian pancake and one-pot dish)and they were really full after that. So I don't know if it was just this one dish. But nevertheless everything tasted good and it was really cheap, so I would try the lunch again.

The cake was really good! We had raw-avocado and raw-chocolate cake. The avocado one was good but nothing speical, but the chocolate one was really delicious! I shared it with a friend and we both loved it. The other cakes also looked delicious. Defenetly would reccomend going there for cake!

The only disadvantage is, that vega city is closed after 6 PM and on the weekend. I mean, closed on weekends??

Used to eat here all the time

When I was living in Hungary, I used to eat here 2-3 times a week.
Super nice staff, cozy place (although sometimes lacks fresh air - but you can always just go to Muzeum kert if the weather is nice), SUPER cheap and usually tasty food. I didn't like some of the dishes, so I often went with my favorite, static dish instead of the daily menu: the gyros plate. I'm not sure if they actually had that on the menu after a while, but I asked for it anyway. Sometimes they didn't have the required ingredients, so they asked if they can replace it with something else - yeah, the staff are super nice.
I always brought my friends here when they wanted to eat somewhere, could always convince them with the fact that it's so cheap.

Pros: incredible value for the price, varied food, super friendly staff

Wide range of good and unique food

If you’re visiting Budapest, you must try this place. The prices are low, the food is good, altrough the portions aren’t very big.

Impressive!

Beautiful and cozy buffet with impressive amount of vegan dishes: mains, salads and sweets.
We tried a little bit of everything: soups — creamy corn and dal (both were ok), lots of deep fried options — shrimps (we didn’t like lemon flavor in it but all in all shrimps were ok), cashew cheese (tasty!), soy nuggets (I liked it a lot); baked tempeh (a bit too salty), some salads and rice and a strawberry cake.
The food wasn’t heated: soups were slightly warm and deep fried dishes were unexpectedly cold. But we were so hungry we ate it as is. I guess they would heat it if we’d ask to but isn’t it kinda obvious tho?..
Anyway I’d recommend to visit

Pros: 100% vegan, Super friendly and sweet service , You can taste a bit of everything, prices are ok

My favourite restaurant in downtown Budapest

It's easily accessible by public transport, located near museums, second-hand bookshops and libraries. It's always my go to restaurant, since it's not expensive and there's always a big variations of different meals, sandwiches and juices.

Pros: Weekly menu., Relatively cheap., Lots of options.

Cons: Super popular so there is usually a queue. :D

Affordable and delicious Hungarian/European cuisine

Lots of seating and a nice atmosphere to relax. Friendly service and a variety of food items to try. I got Brussel sprouts with tofu and a tomato pepper sauce with rice, fried Seiten, and a French soup for about 5.70 euros. Would definitely return

Good food, great prices, amazing cakes

With cafeteria vibes, this place looks like it's perfect for local students... and people on a budget.
The food is cheap, the portions are huge (I really mean that) and there's much choice.
The menu changes daily, we had 3 different daily meals, some were better than others but I guess that's normal considering the variety of dished (don't get me wrong, none were bad, but some were super good and others were okay).
The cakes & desserts are delicious and cheap, please get them if you go there.
Check the menu for the week beforehand (online) so you can see which day looks best for your taste!

Pros: Huge portions, Great desserts, Friendly staff

Cons: Some dishes weren't amazing, but still good

Great food and choice. Note, this place focuses mainly on lunch so don't try to have dinner there like we did twice😁it closes by 6 pm.

One of the best in the city

I live in a college dorm near the restaurant. I'm poor, I'm vegan, I'm lazy and to tell the truth I hate using the kitchen in my dorm (because I share it with ~25-30 other people) so I usually buy my lunch here. Moreover, it's literally opposite to my university, so after class I just have to walk 100 meters and here I am.
I usually buy "Daily mix" what is really-really cheap and contains every kind of stuff (a stew, a side dish, some salad and a vegan wheat meatloaf kind of thing).
The staff is super cute, they are very kind, I love them.

Pros: cheap, super nice staff, very close to the city centre (and to my uni)

Cons: sometimes their bank card terminal has problems

Really affordable

Vega City's mission is to make veg foods available to anyone, so if you're on budget you're gonna love it.

Tastewise it is not the most impressive thing though, if you want to introduce vegan food to someone this is probably not where you would want to start.

Pros: Affordable

Cons: Watered down taste

Standardly enjoyable

It was affordable, with a fairly big queue awkwardly snaking around downstairs, but good service. The food was fine, though not inspirational. Lots of choice however.

Students’ dream

Studying in Budapest as a vegetarian/vegan can be pretty costly, but this place is a good choice if you want to eat inexpensive and be healthy at the same time. Certainly some food are not as good as expected, but I think it’s fairly normal for a place like this.

Update: tried their gyros, it would be the best food ever if it weren’t so salty:(

Pros: Daily changing, wide menu, Cheap, Easily accessible

This is great food with a lot of choice and changing lunch menu. Cakes and other Sweets. Crowdy from 11:30 am during lunch time. Prepare for wait. Staff is super friendly and fast though! All for takeaway as well, you can bring your own containers. Love it!

Pros: Diverse, takeaway, bring your own container

Cons: Crowdy during lunchtime

Cheap Vegan Meal

A good place for a simple and cheap meal. There are plenty of tasty options and the portions are good. However, if you're looking for a fancy location I would not recommend this restaurant. Vega City is more of a vegan homemade fast-food place for a hungry city break.

Pros: Cheap, Plenty of dishes and menu options, Very central location

Cons: Fast-food restaurant atmosphere, Closes early, Greasy Indian bread
