Best cafe in Fort William

I live in Fort William and end up quite often at the Wildcat. Lovely atmosphere and staff, delicious drinks and some of the best vegan cakes I've had. Great books and products on sale at the back ! I love that the place in fully vegan - that is a very rare thing in the Highlands. Actually I can't think of another place at all. Love their oatmilk chai latte and matcha latte !

Pleasant surprise at the end of the WHW

Went for a breakfast here after finishing the WHW. A very nice place with cool vegan vibe.
Staff is nice and the food was very tasty.
Avoca-no- Great very special. Good texture and seasoning. Reminds me of similar paste I make at home.
Baked beans- Classic, can't go wrong here. Was very good as well.
The hummus was nice, nothing more, I tasted better hummus and worse hummus.
The breads were great, served toasted.
The cakes we tasted (walnut banana and Tunisian almond and orange) were a blast too.
As you can see in the pictures, lots of cakes, as well as RAW and GF opts. Wish I could taste them all. Was there just for one day :(
They also have chocolates, oats, different kinds of rice and some more vegan foods for sale. Very cool.

🌟A Credit To The Highlands🌟

Just what a small town needs... a cute, cosy vegan cafe with lovely friendly staff and a welcoming vibe.
I had the warm toasted wrap with miso baked tofu, peanut butter, sweet smokey mushrooms and slaw filling.
It was one of nicest wraps I've eaten. Super tasty combo!
If you visit here, be sure to check out the little book shop and grocery section at the back of the cafe.

Pros: Welcoming, cosy and friendly atmosphere

Cons: None

Very nice vegan place with fresh and delicious food

This is the place to be as a vegan when you arrive in fort William. Everything is plant based and looks and tastes amazing.

I had a Bulgarian stew with bulgur wheat and a salad, my girlfriend had a gyros wrap. We also had a Chai and Macha latte.

There is also a little shop. They try to do everything ethical, ecological, organic,... Which adds to the experience.

Pros: All vegan food, Whole food and healthy stuff, Friendly staff

Cons: Can get crowded

So good I went twice!

I was in FW for a couple of days with a relative and we went for tea & cake on arrival in the town late afternoon, and then we had a lunch there the day we were leaving. Staff are friendly, efficient and helpful, food is lovely. For lunch we went with the soup & bread to leave room for cake, all of it was good, and I would love to try some of the other things in the menu another time. Also did some shopping from their loose products and other things they have. Yes it's small and very busy at lunchtimes - we shared a long table with others and one person was really loud and dominating, but that's just life! Good choice of teas including ones that you don't see many places else.

Pros: Fully vegan, Choice of food, Friendly and very relaxed

Cons: Small

Nice little shop

Cute little cafe with a few zero waste groceries in back. Gets busy fast and there’s not much space to move around. If you want a table, go early. Coffee is delicious as are the baked goods. Brownie especially. Also had the sourdough bread with almond butter, which was good. But they gave me two HUGE pieces of bread! Had to bring some home.

Oat milk as standard for coffee

Obviously a popular place. Coffee was fine. Raw bounty slice is recommended.

A spectacular gem - all towns need a Wildcat

I loved this place. It was a real joy to come across The Wildcat. Great food - I had the quesadilla and then had a coffee and a cake later. Great ambience - I sat on my laptop and wrote for a couple of hours. It was an easy space to be in. People were friendly -customers and staff. The cafe exudes consciousness and I left feeling nourished. Plus the last time I came through Fort William was two years ago and I had found the town centre completely uninspiring - The Wildcat completely changes things and I'd completely make time to go there if I passed through again. In fact I'd love to see more places like The Wildcat. For me The Wildcat sets a new bar. Oh and another plus is that I really enjoyed the avaco-no concept they are working with...an avocado substitute I have never come across before...!

Pros: Great tasty food, Consciousness, Friendly

Wowza

Cozy little spot on High St- apple map put us down below but it was easy enough to figure out it was above where the activity is. The Special was Potato Spinach Tortilla that tasted like au gratin potatoes from my youth. Amazeballs. My hubby had a spicy sweet potato on locally made sourdough. I tried the peanut butter health bar and he had a date bar. All wonderful. I also found a white chocolate candy bar in the bulk food area in back.

Pros: All vegan.

The best place in Ft. William

My partner and I are not vegans, but we instantly fell in love with this cafe and went every day during our three-day stop in Fort William. It is all-vegan with a focus on low-waste (they don't offer to-go containers for food/drink but sell reusable ones or offer ceramic mugs to borrow) and livable wages, and even has a small bulk grocery section in the back. The food is almost entirely delicious (two of the specials missed the mark, a stringy kale soup and a cold tortilla dish -- but we went there three times and everything else was amazing, especially the sandwiches), the tea selection is prolific, and the desserts are scrumptious. It is a bit small, making seating sometimes difficult to find, but if you have to wait for a seat, it is well worth it.

Pros: Great food, tea selection, Low-waste, Bulk grocery section

Cons: Small, limited seating

A must visit in Fort William

We visited before heading up Ben Nevis, fuelling up on oats and takeaway sandwiches for the walk. Wish we’d had the opportunity to re-visit to try some cake - everything looked amazing! There was something for everyone on the menu, and the space was really cool.

Wonderful place

Found this place by complete accident but what a find. Always go in when I'm in Fort William. Coffee is great, food is amazing, the staff are all very friendly and I just love the whole feel of the place. With a zero waste shop section at the back it ticks all the boxes.

Pros: Totally vegan, Great coffee

Cons: Too far away from where I live

Amazing food

Maybe because I'd been staying in a tent all week and living off biscuits and crisps but their lasagne was one of the best things I'd ever eaten. I was expecting something a bit dry and "wholemeal" tasting when I saw lentil lasagne on the menu but it was a cheesy, rich dish with really nice salads. A huge plateful too.

Pros: Lovely friendly place

Very good experience

On the 9th of June 2019 we came here with my girlfriend for lunch.
I ordered main of the day (chili salad) and she ordered a sandwich (hummus, pumpkin, onion etc)
And for dessert I ordered a walnut cake & a black tea, she ordered a "gooey date crumble slice" chari tea red tea.
Everything was really perfect and so good!

Pros: 100% vegan , Delicious and tasty food, Friendly staff

Cons: Nothing

Busy vegan cafe

After walking to the top of Ben Nevis, a date slice and a chai latte stretched out in the den could not have been more welcome. Great to see a vegan cafe this busy, service was quick and staff were very friendly.

Lovely vegan cafe

We had breakfast and lunch here the day after finishing the West Highland Way. It was a real treat, after the difficulty we had finding vegan options at some stops along the Way. For breakfast, I had baked beans on toast with vegan cheese and for lunch I had soup and I shared two pieces of cake with my partner. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming to everyone, but at the same time they didn’t hide their vegan agenda. It was also very nice to get a decent cup of vegan cappuccino (with oat milk).

Pros: Entirely vegan, Both healthy and not so healthy options, Many homemade cakes/pies
