More About Me
Reasons why I prefer to eat vegetarian or vegan:
I'm concerned about minimising self-harm. Originally my reasons for being vegan were a combination of factors - primarily ecological, animal welfare, and personal health, and on a given day what I would care about more would differ. However, I am moving away from the idea of being a separate being but rather as part of a bigger whole and in this sense my concept of self has changed. I am as much a part of my wider environment as it is a part of me. Thus I feel I can reduce suffering to my-self if I minimise ecological, personal, and animal welfare effects of my decisions. I try to balance all these concepts in every moment, which mostly makes me vegan with a preferences for locally sourced seasonal food.
I joined HappyCow Members Community because:
I find it very useful whenever I'm in a new city exploring and often use cafes/restaurants I find on happy cow as a way of exploring a new place and finding new connections. I contribute because I have benefited from others contributions. I think it is particularly important to add new listings in cities where it is very hard to find places.
Here are some places I've been that I liked... and places that I would like to visit one day:
My travels in India were life changing with regard to my diet. My first contact with veganism was there whilst staying with a vegan community. India is a very easy place to be veg#n. These days I'm happy visiting places close to home. Just where I live now there are an infinite points in space and time I haven't yet visited.
