The Café used to have a huge variety of Excellent vegan food! We travel here just for their service, food and Rubbed Kale Caesar Salad. This trip was a little disappointing. Commercial croutons, no more vegan parmesean, Caesar was not rubbed and server seemed to not know what was vegan. Ask carefully because items have changed and some ingredients are not vegan.

My husband and I ate here 5 times during the 4 days we stayed in Ley West. This gem of a restaurant checked all the boxes. Multiple vegan choices that were not only delicious but healthful, generous portions, friendly staff, great environment, and excellent prices. We wish we had a place like this back home. I wish I could give 5 stars. I appreciate having choices for non vegans as well. I was visiting my non vegan parents and they joined us twice and also enjoyed their meals.

Read moreService was slow (over half hour) and salad was mostly lettuce leaves. Good amount of actually vegan options. 8.5 usd to add tofu to the salad.

Updated 2025: Unfortunately The Cafe seems to be scaling back on their menu, including vegan items. Although we're told they can still make items upon request (based on availability) the new offering lacks mainstays available for the last decade (like the vegan pepper steak). Operating a restaurant is hard, but Happy Cow users should be aware of the changes, especially vegan users looking for a variety of breakfast options.

I've eaten here a few times over the last few years and I must say that this is the best, albeit semi-, vegetarian restaurant in the Keys. We've always had great food and service. I imagine the restaurant thrives off of tourists, and having fish on the menu helps bring them in. They serve beer - including from my favourite brewery: Dogfish Head. Although, I'm sure, most of the ingredients have to be trucked in from the mainland, I'm told that they do make their own seitan. Bravo!

food here is fantastic and most of it is already vegan or very easy to make vegan, the un-wing dings are to die for, and the portion sizes are hefty. that being said this place can be $100 for two people if you get an appetizer and a meal which is quite a lot, there's always enough for leftovers though

I had 3 people in Key West recommend this place to me after hearing I was vegan. Everything was delicious! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and clean bathrooms. I had the tofu scramble, watermelon juice and carrot cake for dessert- yum!

Best vegan food in Key West - Edit
The vegan options are plentiful and good. I usually get the Kung Pao Tofu. You have to try the key lime cheesecake if they have it. They often run out, so snag it when you can! I actually wasn't able to get any the last two times I went, which was a bummer.

I ordered the vegan Italian meatball sub and it was delicious. My friends got udon noodles and soba noodles. We also came back later to get their delicious vegan cake options. I got the chocolate cake and my friends got the carrot cake, the key lime cheesecake, and the vegan pudding. It was overall very good and there was great service

While visiting Key West, I treated myself to a relaxing solo breakfast. This was exactly what I needed! The atmosphere was cheerful and relaxing, the service was attentive without hovering, and the food was AMAZING! I had the tofu scramble with breakfast potatoes; everything was cooked to perfection. I took a slice of coconut cake & carrot cake to enjoy later with my non-vegan hubby. Both flavors of cake were moist and flavorful.

Very experienced "Cafe" has been around for decades. The menu offers omnivorous choices, but of course, us Vegans are well catered for. Veggies are super fresh. Large variety in cooking styles.

Amazing food, great atmosphere! - Edit
I’m a vegetarian and came here with non-vegetarian family. We all loved all of the food we got, including the pepper’steak’ and swiss, the grande burrito, and the udon noodles with tofu. Portions were large, and left us full but not in an unpleasant way. So many vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. Overall, highly recommend!! Will definitely be coming back.
