very good flavor - Edit
the taquito plate with carnitas and rice and beans had really good flavor and the wet burrito was ok because you could still taste the soy in it but other than that it was all very good. definitely recommend if you are looking for something quick to eat.

My favorite vegan Mexican food - Edit
Everything I’ve had here is so good. The shredded chicken tacos are especially amazing. And the homemade beans and Mexican rice is so good. Also they have an amazing selection of homemade HUGE desserts!

The best endorsement I can give to this place is that I've only been there two times and I still get hungry whenever I remember their wet burrito.

A Feast - Edit
Love the food here. They give you a nice massive helping which is always the best way to eat Mexican food. The last handful of times I’ve gone they always seem to be out of something, so have back up plans for what you’re craving. The food can be really salty at times too, but I guess that depends who’s cooking that day. I love the floutas, chimichangas, baja tacos and nachos.

Best Vegan Mexican Food Ever - Edit
This place... I wish I lived closer (or maybe I don’t because I would gain so much weight and be broke). I can’t begin to explain the deliciousness. I couldn’t even decide what I wanted, so I did have a chile Relleno combo plate and a side taco (there’s the weight I was talking about). Both were divine. The chile relleno was the best one I’ve ever had in my whole life. Perfectly crunchy in the right areas, just spicy enough, and the vegan cheese melts in the mouth! I can’t wait to go back!

Wanted to like it😒 - Edit
I really wanted to like this place, and so I gave it three shots. Every time I’ve been here, it’s really salty and the beans tastes like they’re from a can. I’m Mexican and honestly Taco Bell tastes more Mexican than here. It’s a cute place but me and my whole family did not like it after giving it three shots. Cena vegan is better in my opinion and much more authentic tasting.

It was good food, they only had soy options for the "meat" - Edit
It was cool and affordable, I liked the flavors. I got the wet burrito with al pastor. The meat was a little tough I wished they had non soy options. Overall good.

NO NACHOS !?!?! - Edit
The food was ok tasted like most of the sauces came from a can. The carnitas and bulgogi meat was fire. I came here only for the nachos and they don’t have them unfortunately I hope they have them again good food if your in the area not worth a trip

Nachos are Fuegooo 🔥 - Edit
The cheese just melts in your mouth, which is rare for vegan cheese! Be sure to make it combo though, you’ll thank me later 😉 we got the Carnitas meat (gluten free) which had a great consistency and were not super greasy like other pho meats I’ve had. Their fresh salsas are worth trying too 🙌🏼

Soo goood!!! - Edit
Seriously soo good! I’m not even mad that they don’t have avocado. Highly suggest getting your burrito wet - the sauces are so good!! The el pastor and the chicken mole are my fave. Also options for no vegan meat, just rice, beans, veg, etc. Great tex mex option, instead of just fancy vegan Mexican style food that is so typically seen (you know the ones - with the fermented beans and sprouted rice and micro greens...delicious, but not always the desired flavor profile).
Read moreThe only bad thing I have to say about this place (why I didn’t give 5 stars) is that they’re still using disposable in house and it includes plastic. This is all around disappointing, dated, and not very vegan, in my opinion, since all that waste is killing the planet and the animals that live on it. Hopefully they can work on this and fix it in the future. Bring your own utensils! They use plastic. I didn’t try to have them use my containers, I’m not sure if that’s even possible in LA with the health department.
Pros: 100% vegan , 100% delicious , Get your burrito WET (if you’re into that)
Cons: No reusable dishes, cups, utensils , Still using plastic in 2019 (come on...)

So. Freaking. Good.
Read moreI have been here several times and each time has been amazing! I am officially addicted to their wet burritos.
I have yet to find my favorite. Working my way through all of the "meat" options and so far I think mole pollo is at the top of the list.
Got a piece of carrot cake once and it was great as well.
Street parking can be tough sometimes but there is a public lot on the other side of the car wash that seems to always have spots.
On my most recent trip they had Portishead playing. This has nothing to do with the food but I need to point out their badass music taste as just another reason to give this place your money.
Mad props to the Doomies crew for opening this little spot in the hood. Vegan food for the people!
Pros: Amazing food, Delicious food, Big portions

Awesome Mexican food - Edit
This place was right around the corner from my Airbnb and was the first place I tried after landing in the US. It’s right next door to the other Doomies restaurant and a vegan ice cream place.

LA vegan Mexican w zero avocados? - Edit
So happy that Next Mex exists but they sort of miss the mark for both Mexican food and LA vegan food by not including avocado or guacamole on anything (everything!). Portions are big. They offer soda or water. Bring your own flatware and cutlery if you care about the Earth. Everything is served on disposable, which for plates and take-home/delivery containers is unbleached paper products (wish they had real dine-in plates to lessen tree waste), but the water cups, cutlery and condiment cups are petroleum plastic and even though CA state banned plastic bags, they still use them for take-home and more worryingly, food-delivery, which is huge business for LA restaurants.

Cheap - Edit
Taco shells are the ones you can get at the dollar store, 6 to a pack. Why make a restaurant that serves the lowest quality food? It's not like the prices are so cheap. It feels like there is no cooking taking place in that kitchen, everything is premade frozen junk that they prepare for you. Don't waste your money on this place, you can find much better vegan Mexican food.
