Chicken mole is out of this world! - Edit
I visited this place, which is cousin to Doomie's in Hollywood, for the first time today and I was blown away. I got the three tacos plate with chicken mole. It's been a while since I've had mole, but Doomie's NextMex took me back to my pre-vegan days with their delicious, no DELICIOUS, mole. What a gem of a restaurant. I'm looking forward to the next time I visit. I will be sure to get one of the tasty-looking chocolate cakes. I highly recommend this place.

Cons: Street parking, as far as I could determine., If there's parking behind, access is up high hill

Mexican vegan - Edit
I got the mole nachos, which were pretty good. Too much of the mole “meat” but the chips, “cheese,” “sour cream,” and Pico were good. They give huge portions so you won’t leave hungry that’s for sure. There’s nobody attending the front counter. You look over the menu and place your order, then they let you know when it’s ready. I will probably get food from here again but it will be take out cause the dine in experience wasn’t anything to write home about.

Cons: Parking at certain hours , Dinning room lacks ambience and staff

It’s making me fat - Edit
I love this place. The food is cheap and the portions are huge. The fake meat they use (I think it’s made in house) is amazing and you get 8 distinct options to choose from. The desserts are huge and rich too.

Inconsistent - Edit
First time was good, second was not, thought it was a fluke so third time was just ok. Super salty which I like sometimes, but this was overboard.

Carnitas - Edit
I went with my non-veg sister and we both couldn’t believe that the carnitas were vegan! The only thing I didn’t really like was the tortillas seemed to be microwaved. Other than that the food was good.

10/10 would come again - Edit
I’ve been craving legit Mexican food for YEARS and this place exceeded my expectations. It’s not a frilly “healthy” place like gracias madre, it’s authentic. The mole sauce on the chicken plate was fantastic, everything I remember traditional mole to be. The hubs tried the wet burrito/ chimichanga, which was wild. The deep fried a giant burrito and slathered it in sauce- he loved it! Can’t wait to come back

Easily the worst Mexican food I have ever had. - Edit
The worst Mexican food and worst vegan restaurant I’ve ever been too. The food was unbelievably over salted, mushy and sugary. They had no vegetables available for the food unless you consider wilted sparse lettuce and mushy tomatoes “vegetables”. Once again, mush upon mush upon salty mush. I regret few things in life but this is one of them. Yes this is a super harsh review. I really wanted better for vegan Mexican food in LA but it looks like I’m gonna have to continue to risk it with Baja Fresh and chipotle because they actually have vegetables on the menu.

Meat centred meals - Edit
Travelled quite some way to get here only to find that offerings are all labelled in meat terms “Asada” “carnitas” “extra meat” etc. Why are so many so called vegan places obsessed with replicating meat instead of actually celebrating vegetables??? So disappointed

Vegan food in City Terrace, hooray! - Edit
Doomie's NextMex Express runs a pretty paired down operation - one person runs the register and makes the food. They only offer 3 different items - tacos, burritos, and wet burritos, plus beans and rice as a side for the tacos. No chips or guacamole, etc.
Read moreThat being said, they offer 7 different types of "meat," which is pretty exciting. I've tried 5 out of 7, and all of them were delicious. Price is fairly reasonable, and the portions are large. They also have a selection of vegan baked goods for sale.
In summary, it's vegan, it's tasty, and it's only 5 minutes from my office, so basically I couldn't be happier!
Pros: Good food, Friendly staff, Reasonable prices
Cons: No guacamole, tho, Limited beverages, Limited seating

Do not eat here if you're gluten free - Edit
They have gluten free options on the menu, but warn of cross contamination (usually not a problem for me as people are typically very careful anyway.) I ordered the gf tostada and after a couple of bites of the tortilla I felt a bit suspicious if it was actually corn or not because it flaked unlike corn usually does. I stopped eating it but it was too late at that point - I spent the majority of my vacation recovering from it and missed out on a lot of experiences from being tied up in bed and in pain. Awful experience :(

Fun to have a vegan Mexican place! - Edit
Food is good, and it's so nice to not have to worry about the rice or beans or anything else containing animal products! Fast service. Plates seem to be biodegradable but utensils are plastic which is disappointing. Hopefully, if enough people ask, they will offer earth friendly utensils!

Excellent! Our new favorite Mexican restaurant. - Edit
We’re big fans if Doomie’s and don’t get there often because of the location. Finally tried Doomie’s NextMex today. Nice menu that isn’t overwhelming. Food was fresh and service excellent. Wish both restaurants were closer. But we will definitely be back. My cousin isn’t even vegan and said this was now her favorite Mexican restaurant. She got the burrito. I got the taquito -I think that’s spelled wrong -and tostada combo.

Finally, Mexican food - Edit
At last we have vegan Mexican food that isn't Chipotle. It was getting embarrassing living in LA and only having fast food chains.
Read moreFirst up, almost every time I'm here I see people walk in and then walk out when there's not someone to greet them, when they see the computer terminals for ordering, and that they can't pay cash. So if you need someone to hold your hand, don't bother. This is still a Doomie's establishment, you need to set your expectations accordingly. But if you want vegan carne asada, carnitas, pollo, and al pastor, then this is the place.
I suggest the 3-taco combo for first timers because you get to try several things. Their corn tortillas are the best; fresh, thick, not gritty. I love them and I don't even like corn tortillas.
There's also burritos, nachos, tostadas, quesadillas, taquitos, and the biggest flautas you've ever seen. The appetizers are good, too, like street corn in a cup, but that entree is probably going to be enough.
The only thing I don't like is that sometimes the music is too loud, and the seating against the wall with the corrugated metal is a bit uncomfortable.
Pros: Great unique food, Cute decor
Cons: Can get loud, A cushion against the wall seating would be better

Food over load - Edit
We had the best dinner! We ordered so much food. From tacos, nachos to chili relleno. All were fresh and good portion sizes. Felt strange to go in and order at a self service computer, but it was fine and the staff were there to help with ordering if needed. Note it is cash free so bring your credit card.

Delicious! - Edit
I was so excited to finally try this restaurant, I mean, Doomie’s food is amazing, so I couldn’t wait to try their take on Mexican food. It was really delicious! The food tasted really authentic, shockingly so! I got a wet burrito with pollo, it was drizzled with sour cream and cheese sauce. Wow!! So so good! I also got chips and ceviche, with was also really delicious. The service was fast, you order at an iPad at the front and they call out your name. Quick and easy! Very friendly service from the staff. The decor was fun with piñatas mounted on the wall, lights and flags all over the ceiling. Fun!! I will certainly be back many many many more times for this delicious authentic Mexican vegan extravaganza!!
