Great, fresh food! - Edit
Only fully vegan place in Vang Vieng, so highly appreciated! The food is delicious, we tried almost everything and were dissapointed only once (spaghetti sauce was sweet and sour and had nothing to do with western 'bolognese' version)😄
Read moreThe only con is that it usually takes a lot of time to prepare (around 1h ). However, the food is really fresh and nice, so if you're not in hurry it's worth the wait. It would be nice though if the service would be a bit quicker!

Wow! - Edit
We loved the food at this place. The laab sandwich is just amazing. Its quite spicy so you have to like that! We also had the coconut noodles soup. Didnt really saw any coconut(milk) but besides that the taste was delicious. Not spicy, but nice fresh flavours.

Pros: Saveurs
Cons: Temps d'attente , Mauvaise organisation

Absolutely disgusting food. - Edit
I want to give 1 star but I couldn't. I just arrived in Vang Vieng, and this restaurant had such positive reviews I thought I would give it a try. When I arrived there was no customers in the restaurant only the owner. I was given a menu and not the menu with the full choice. I ordered the noodle coconut soup. All I can say what I ordered I don't know what it was supposed to be, it looked like a bowl of vomit. The potatoes in the soup were not cooked and fully raw. It tasted weird and the noodles were all clumped with cabbage or lettuce. I didn't end up eating the food as it wasn't nice at all. The owner seen I didn't eat it but never asked anything if the food was OK. I'm disappointed in Happy Cow reviews in Laos. I've yet to find anything that I'd call tasty since I arrived here. This place is actually the worst meal I've experienced and definitely won't be coming back for seconds. #Veganuary

Delicious and big portions - Edit
Very delicious food and big portions. I had the Spaghetti and it was rich in flavor and very fruity. It came with some vegetables and tasty noodles.

(And none of the table had tissues and the bathroom was a bit abandoned.)

Delicious and high recommended - Edit
We ordered the fried mushrooms, larb and the tofu sandwich, a smoothie and a lemon tea. Everything was absolutely saap. The woman who owned the restaurant was on her own so yes it was a bit slow but she was doing everything so it’s to be expected. Worth the wait 👍 we enjoyed it so much we got some food to takeaway to have the next day

Happy to find a fully vegan restaurant in VV - Edit
We had coconut noodle soup, a mock meat sandwich and a sweet and sour tofu. Everything was great but the best was the sandwich. It took around 40-50min to get our food so be prepared to wait.

Great! - Edit
This is my favorite restaurant in Vang Vieng. It doesn't look like much and may even seem closed but it is normally open 9-9. Owned by a couple (Kapphet is the wife and cook), everything is made from scratch as you order so there could be a wait. I am here in off season and there were no other customers when I arrived. Sengkeo, the husband, speaks English and was very friendly. He also made a clean, yummy pineapple smoothie with only pineapple and coconut water, delicious. The Tom Yum soup was truly the best I've ever tasted! Fresh herbs: galanga root, kaffir leaves, lemongrass, and tamarind seeds are a testament to the full flavors of this dish. It was so good I returned the next day and had the green curry and brown rice.

Best vegan hamburger! - Edit
Read moreKapphet Vegan Restaurant is a true gem in Vang Vieng! We had the best vegan burger I’ve ever tasted, along with a tofu sandwich, pad thai, soup, and salad. Every meal was freshly prepared on the spot, with generous portions at fantastic prices. The owners, Sengkeo and Kapphet, are such lovely people and were a joy to talk to. We loved it so much that we came back every day during our 3-day stay!

Legit good food - Edit
I’ve had the fresh spring rolls, twice, the noodle soup with coconut and the green curry, all were fantastic. As mentioned, the wait time is longer than most but that’s a testament to freshly prepared food, on the spot, by one woman. This place is great.

Good menu - Edit
It's a simple, family run place which is a fair walk from the main drag.
Read moreThe all vegan menu is great and had a good selection. I had the burger which was very nice. Prices are affordable.
As others have mentioned, the service could be better. The food was very slow to arrive as everything is cooked one at a time. So if you are in a hurry then bear this in mind.
Also, we ordered a smoothie and were only told about 15 mins later that the blender was broken. The chap then scurried off before we could order an alternative, so we went without drinks in the end.
Pros: Good range of options
Cons: Slow service, Not much customer service

The only TRUELY vegan place in Vang Vieng!! - Edit
Absolutely incredible traditional Lao food made vegan (actually vegan, unlike most places who just use the word as a marketing ploy to get tourists). This is the only truly vegan restaurant in Vang Vieng. The owners Kapphet and her husband Sengkeo are both vegan themselves and have mastered the art of making a bunch of Lao dishes deliciously vegan. I ate here every day (sometimes twice a day) for a week and tried almost everything on their menu. Everything is absolutely delicious (and I'm used to Melbourne vegan food).
Read moreSengkeo is proud of his burger recipe, made from jackfruit that he grows, and rightly so - it's fantastic. I'd also thoroughly recommend the larp sandwich, green curry, rice paper rolls, fried rice (seriously tasty), all of the soups and the mixed smoothie! Try everything!
All the food is made from scratch and with love, so don't go here with a Western attitude expecting to eat (pre-prepared) food in 15 minutes. Meals come on Lao time.
Sengkeo is also working on helping the locals become more environmentally aware and has a bunch of cool projects on the go - have a chat with him about it (he speaks fantastic english) and get involved if you can!
Thank you Kapphet and Sengkeo ❤️🌿✨️

Vegan local food - Edit
The food was good but unfortunately the service wasn’t great. The food took a long time to arrive (which is fair since they made everything from zero) but even after asking for the check it took around 10 min for them to come and pick it up again, which is too long considering we were the only people there. Nothing too bad but worth mentioning

Must visit in Vang Vieng! - Edit
This is the sweetest place I have found to eat vegan food on my travels so far. Kapphet Vegan is run Sengkeo and his wife, a Lao couple who are themselves vegan and really do practice what they preach. It is really rare to come across a vegan restaurant where you can directly support Lao locals, that wasn’t set up by westerners which makes it extra special.
Read moreThey just about made it through the covid pandemic and are still deeply affected, so please show them some love and make their day by paying a visit. Sengkeo also does outreach programmes in the community via the Saleo project, and holds events to help raise awareness of veganism and its benefits to Lao people - as he mentioned it’s not always western travellers he needs to convince, it’s his own friends and family in the town and beyond.
He is super chatty and sat with me whilst I ordered and ate my food. The vegan take on the traditional Lao larb sandwich (first vegan version known to Lao) was so delicious and I had to go back a second time to try his jackfruit burger which he grows in his garden and has seasoned to perfection! And of course I ordered a delicious mixed smoothie each time, made with fruits from their garden and perfect with no sugar needed.
We spoke about many topics and he gave me such a unique and interesting insight into Lao life, but the main takeaways and what forms his main ethos is “sharing is caring”, to not judge others but to treat them always with kindness and most importantly to “smile, because the world needs it”.
Thank you so much Kapphet Vegan! I hope to be back some day.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Relaxed and friendly atmosphere , Delicious and unique food

Delicious food in a while - Edit
The food itself was delicious and freshly made, pricing is okay. The fact that only one lady prepares all the dishes for all the guest causes waiting times longer than an hour. If that is a problem for you, better make sure to come when no other guests are around.

Tasty food, interesting and chatty owner - Edit
3 out of 4 dishes we ordered on 2 trips here were good - tofu and larb sandwiches were really tasty and would recommend and the coconut noodle soup quite nice. The pad Thai was a quite bland however and a small portion. Don’t be too put off if the owner comes to sit and chat with you - he certainly likes a natter. Of the 3, this is the definitely the best veggie/vegan place in town.
