Excellent food, large portions - Edit
Very polite and expedient service, combined with flavourful food. I really enjoyed a bowl of udon with fried bean sauce: the udon was fresh and chewy, and the broth was rich. The bowl was huge - I would not have been able to eat a combo meal! Highly recommend!!

Pretty good, a little expensive - Edit
Good udon! Just nothing too exciting. The potstickers have Chinese five spice in them (I think), so if you're not a fan avoid them. Also had the matcha pudding, which wasn't sweet enough for my Western palate. Staff is efficient, but stiff.

Good portions but too pricey for bland udon - Edit
Order at counter and sit down place. Got the bento box which had some pretty tasty sides, but the udon soup was not that great. Also at $390NT it's pretty pricey.

Pretty good, but... - Edit
I went to another Hoshina, and had an incredible meal, their cold soba set.
Read moreAt this location i had the curry soup udon. The udon were great but the broth was very light in curry flavour, and very thin. Some soy milk or coconut milk would help it to be more like a curry soup.
The side dishes that came with it were all good.
You order and pay at the counter, and are expected to bus your own dishes. I dont mind doing this in cheap eateries, but this place isnt cheap. If it wasn't for the lack if service, it would get another star.
Pros: Housemade noodles, Great sides
Cons: Too expensive not to offer proper table service, The curry soup wasnt at all curry like

Yummy udon - Edit
Tried the udon with sesame sauce. All ingredients are yummy, fresh and tasty (might be bland for people who used to heavy taste). You can see there is quite alot thoughts have been put into creating the dishes. Highly recommended.

After getting your seat, you can mark your choices on the paper menu before heading to the counter to order and pay. The menu features udon, rice sets, and side dishes like tempura and gyozas.

Great udon! - Edit
This is my new favorite vegan place in Taipei - and that's saying a lot! My favorite is the curry udon set, which comes with some pickled veg and a side of delicious veggie tempura. The "omni-pork" gyoza is amazing! It's so good, I feel like you could fool omnivores! The atmosphere is warm and casual and the service is friendly. I will be going back again and again, whenever I need an udon fix!

Authentic japanese food - Edit
Friendly staff who spoke English. They have tables facing the wall for just 1 person. Food is above 300 TWD for a set meal. I went there at 2pm and it was quite busy but I received my food after 15mins. Menu is in English (i've uploaded pics). I think the taste was authentic Japanese. I wanted the tofu steak but they didn't have it anymore, so i got the Japanese curry.

Good Quality - Edit
Was here July 2019. Saw this place listed on happycow and gave it a try. Here's my Hoshina Zhongshan District review. This branch requires going up a few steps to get in. The interior is cozy. You order from the paper menu (in Chinese) or ask staff for help -- there are some photos on the big menu. We upgraded our curry entree and kimchi cold udon entree to the set -- comes with additional side like tempura, soup, small pickeled foods, and sweet bean dessert. We also got an order of gyoza and their special sesame pudding with savory sauce. Everything was delicious.

Decent Japanese noodle place - Edit
I went there because I thought they have Thai curry. But the Thai curry was no longer on the menu. They had eel donburi instead but since it's limited number, it was sold out when I went there around 7pm. I had Nabeyaki set meal. It was okay but nothing impressive. I don't think it's worth more than 400 TWD.

Great Udon - Edit
Brought my Kong Mum & Brother to hoshina teishoku. We ordered three set lunch. The amount is very large. We can’t even finish it. Kong Mum likes the side dishes. Kong brother likes the tempura. I like curry udon noodles. The soup is made with a variety of vegetables and cashew nuts. It tastes rich and delicious, and I like the dessert too~

Went there on a cold and rainy day and ordered the curry udon meal (came with veggie tempura), nothing negative to say - only advise is to go with an empty belly, the portions are huge!

Good Vegan Japanese Food! - Edit
I've always loved Japanese food so yeah ~ I love this vegan Japanese restaurant Hoshina! Strategically located next to a mall, the food is good, good service as expected - same as other vegan outlets owned by the company ie Kaya Kaya, Flourish etc. Love their tempura!!!
