For that special lunch date... - Edit

I'm a big fan of this Japanese-style restaurant, and considering the quality of the food, 300 NT up for a set menu seems quite fair.
Ambience is sober, simple but chic wooden tables, maybe not the right flair for a romantic dinner, but perfect for that friendly yet elevated lunch date.
Always go with the stew, not the tempura with your main dish, the tempura is so filling that you won't be able to enjoy your main dish anymore.
The menu is a bit confusing, but basically you pick a main, either a curry with rice, a noodle dish, or a tofu variety, and then you choose between single dish and set option.

Reasonably good food - Edit

A fairly good japanese style restaurant that sells mainly set meals with some a la carte options. The food is reasonably good (if not perhaps exceptional) and the waitstaff seems helpful and nice. The menu is somewhat limited but has a number of options, and the pickled tomatoes are surprisingly good (and perhaps the best part of the meal, however it's worth noting that while the pictures on happy cow may show 5, when I went the first time it was 3, the next time 2, and the next time 2 smaller ones...).

The cost of the food is around 300-350 or so for a set meal, which I wouldn't consider overly cheap but isn't too expensive for the amount of food. The interior is fairly spacious and reasonably inviting with a wooden decor.

Be careful of nuts in a few dishes, and I would be wary about trusting their description of how spicy some of dishes may be.

Pros: Fairly good, Helpful Staff, Interesting options

Cons: Could be a bit tastier sometimes

Great good quality food - Edit

Wholesome food with good quality vegetables. Big bowls of homemade ramen and choices of different stews and soups. You can choose a set menu for 300-380 which includes main dish, side of rice, quinoa, veg, tempura fried veg. Also included is 3 small veg sides and a red bean pudding. Free tea and lemon water. Popular spot. All tables were full by 8pm on a Tuesday. Menu has English and great pictures of every dish.

Pros: Lots of options, big portions.

Cons: none

fresh, affordable and zen - Edit

We enjoyed a high quality and fresh meal here. The environment is warm and inviting. Despite being packed the food arrived within ten minutes and was hot. The flavors are subtle but delicious. We loved the mixed veggie tempurA, perfectly fried. We left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. I was also so excited to see soybean ice cream with passion fruit jam! Two of my favorite things

Vegetable Tempura is Da Bomb - Edit

Really good option for a set meal. I went there the first thing I landed off in Taipei and hot ramen with tempura really made it worth the trip.

Pros: Tempura

Cons: You can only have so much food within one day with

Great noodles and best vegetable tempura - Edit

One of my favourite places for noodles and tempura. The set menu comes with sides dishes that are also very tasty. The pickled cherry tomatoes are one of the best i've had. Good mix of vegetable tempura with light batter.

Weird experience and the food is so mediocre. - Edit

I inquired about gluten-free options before I even sat down and the host was puzzled, obviously not knowledgeable of what gluten is. After many exchanges of explaining which ingredients contain gluten I was sent a side soup with my meal that has dashi(contains soy sauce which has wheat). Luckily I smelled the strong soy sauce aroma before touching it. After informing the wait staff about it, I was told there's a "small amount" of soy sauce in the soup...I wonder if there's a small amount of soy sauce or wheat in the other stuff I ate in my set meal.

I had the Thai curry which was more of a soup and doesn't taste like Thai curry at all.

I would come back if the food is worth it, disregard of the weird exchanges with the staff, but sadly not the case.

Pros: Walking distance from the MRT station,, filling portions.

Cons: No restroom, staff are not knowledgeable, and unaware of the severity of food intolerances.

Love vegan Japanese food - Edit

I love vegan Japanese food so this place is perfect. It offers rice combos and udon combos with various side dishes, tempura (deep-fried vegetables), and dessert. A combo costs about $11 and the portion is huge.

There's no service fee and it's self-serve, so after the meal customers need to take their plates back to the window.

This is the best vegan Japanese food I've ever had and I'll for sure go back again and again.

However, one thing that's odd about this place is that there's no bathroom open to the public (but there's hand sanitizer). There's a department store right next door so the staff would point you there if you need to use the bathroom.

Pros: amazing food, huge portion, affordable price

Cons: no bathroom in the restaurant
