Nice food and staff - Edit
I caught a train from London and didn’t have time for breakfast so made an effort to get something near Brighton station. I also had avocado toast (they also had a full English breakfast and pastries). The cost and the size of the avocado toast was good. I really enjoyed my cappuccino and the staff were lovely. It’s a nice place to sit in.

Nice spot for food in a good location - Edit
I really enjoyed my "calmon" (carrot lox) bagel here, which came with lots of nice veggies. The salads looked nice too, and it was good value for money given the central location.

Healthy salads but nothing special - Edit
This cafe is located a few minutes away from the station. They have seatings inside and outside. Outside it is not very cosy because the cafe is located on a busy road. I ordered a salad with pumpkin, mushrooms, broccoli, quinoa and a vegan version of halloumi cheese. It was good, but nothing special. The vegan cheese tasted weird and the texture was not very nice. The staff was friendly. Although it was fine I wouldn't go back.

Thank you for expert opinion. We asked the local council if we could plant trees and keep unicorns on the pavement, so that our customers would have a beautiful Narnia in which to eat their mediocre salads, filled with vegan vegetables, but, alas they said we should be happy with the rights of bus users, taxis, pedestrians and the homeless. THE NERVE OF THESE POLIticians!!!
Read moreWith all these things against us, we are so very grateful you bothered to stop and try our menu at all.
Your patronage, was the highlight of our otherwise gloomy week. And we are SUPER envious of all the other superior cafes that will receive your repeat business.
Your opinion has truly motivated us, to care less about the reviews that offer no incentive to improve.

Decent and nutritious - Edit
Had a salad here which was rather tasty and very nutritious. On the expensive side though. A shame that they offer dairy milk while everything else is plantbased. The chai latte here was alright, nothing special.
Read moreVery friendly staff. Not the most appealing of locations I'm afraid. If you are looking to have a tasty and nutritious meal in Brighton instead of having to go to one of many fastfood joints, certainly pay this one a visit.
Pros: Healthy options on the menu, Very friendly staff, Central location close to the railway station
Cons: Dairy milk option
cafe@62
Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, we couldn’t agree more about the appeal of our location. Being right next to the train station, on a street frequented by commuters in the center of Brighton, having the homeless, the desperate and the tourists, in constant flux, in-front of our doors, it does make us regretful that we couldn’t afford the rent on the beachfront. However, we have worked tirelessly to bring a little bit of nature into an unappealing place, by erecting a living wall, that although pretty, actually serves a greater purpose of extracting negative toxins from a highly polluted area while adding beauty.
Read moreWe have no power over Queens Road, but what we create, and have control over, our food and our service, we do with price and to the best of our ability. To be judged and rated over the things we have no power over, is an injustice to the hard work we do, the environment we create, DESPITE the public space we find ourselves in.
If you’re going to judge us, do so on what we can control, not what we can’t.
Thank you for your opinion. It has given us something to think about.

I'm not sure why you are so offended by an honest 4-star review. Looks like you can't stand any form of criticism or feedback. Why so cynical? I'm not saying you should move to the beachfront, it's not my call to make. And I understand that this is not as affordable. Does that mean I can't say I think the location is not that appealing? I didn't say the cafe is unappealing, did I? I also mentioned that you serve tasty and nutritious meals. Why not respond to that? Or the fact that you still serve cows milk. Do you not have control over that either?
Read moreIt's a shame you are so offended by honest reviews from people who take the time to give you one and share their thoughts. You don't have to agree with me in the slightest, but at the very least you can be polite and respect my opinion.
And just get rid of the dairy for crying out loud. It can't be that hard.
cafe@62
Hi vegansjeng, I apologize if I came off as offended.
Read moreIt was despondency I was feeling.
It is not hard to get rid of dairy.
But it has been our lifeline.
It allowed us to keep my doors open during a very difficult and financially crippling period.
One just needs to Take a look at the commercial real estate pages. Almost every cafe in Brighton is up for sale.
To read someone is unimpressed with all your effort and hard work is disheartening.
The sacrifices that are made ever day, to offer the public, not just vegans, a nutritious meal, as an alternative to fast food, are immense. And to read it is relegated to a 4 star opinion results in feelings of despondency. I may have felt offended if I didn’t care as much as I do about what I do every day, 7 days a week, without a day off. But all I feel is despondent.
But to clear up any more confusion, we don’t offer a cosmopolitan location away from the Hustle and the bustle. We don’t offer a gourmet menu.
We do offer nutritious salads and sandwiches, that are made with care everyday.
So I feel despondent.
Thank you though for allowing me to clarify that, I’m sure you are not alone in your assumption about my feelings.

Mush•room for improvement. - Edit
Convenient place if you want to experience the traditional English breakfast, but at a 100% vegan cafe. I had the breakfast deal for £16 ( the discretional service charge of 15% is added to the final bill). 1 Full Venglish (£12 sausage, bacon, scrambled tofu, tomato, mushroom, hash brown, baked beans and toast) 1 Yoghurt Pot (£5.50 vegan yoghurt topped with homemade granola and berry compote) 1 Black Coffee (£3.00). The full venglish was good & big, but the Yogurt Pot was small and didn’t contain a lot of yogurt (only managed to get 2 full spoon out of it) and I couldn’t switch the coffee for a hot chocolate in the breakfast deal (the staff first said yes and then no).

“Mush-room for improvement.” Love that!
Read moreSorry about the yogurt pot
I’ve been trying to teach my staff (of whom none want to be cafe workers. (They’re all studying to be lawyers, doctors and the leaders of tomorrow) costing.
When I ask 1 employee how to maximize the profit of 1 tub of yoghurt they make the portions small. When I ask another, they make the portions big.
One values profit, the other values, “value for money”.
My advice, next time you want to complain, complain to me. That way, I’m able to teach a 16 year old, how their interpretation of profit, has affected the consumer. To complain on line, has no benefit other that to give the complainer a perceived power. Are you plant of the problem, or plant of the solution?

Went here for a full English breakfast a couple of months ago...the owner was very welcoming and chatty but not intrusive while we were eating. Situated right across from the ibis hotel somehow we didn't see it til our last day. Breakfast was excellent would love to go back to try some other options.

Incredible all round! - Edit
We went there twice in two days because the service was excellent! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Tracy works so hard to meet the customers' needs and then some. Everything we tried on the menu was divine! The quality was superb for a low price. This café opens hours earlier than all the other vegan-only establishments in Brighton as well, so we didn't have to venture into any non-vegan establishments for the duration of our holiday as a result of this. 5 stars!

HI C1nders
Read moreI wish we did not have to be pricey. I set out upon this cafe journey, to bring, high quality food and service to people, at an affordable price. However, global circumstances, have made that nearly impossible without comprimising on quality. or going out of business.
I cannot bring myself to serve sh1t to keep costs low. I leave that to other bigger, richer and more recognizable brands than my own.
That being said, I so appreciate the fact that despite the price (that I hate having to charge, but cannot be in business without) you enjoyed the meal. Please know, that as soon as I can, if what I am trying to achieve goes to plan, the prices will go down, while the quality is maintained. It is just going to take longer than I had hoped. But do watch this space.
I would like to say thank you for your review. It gave us constructive feedback to work with and towards but also made us feel we are getting some things right. We take it to heart, and we will endevour to make your feedback count.
Can't do too much about the parking unfortunately.

Better Brighton options - Edit
Found the service slow and disorganised - people who ordered after us got served before us. The food is ok, but plenty of superior options within a 10 minute walk. Won’t return.
Read morecafe@62
HI LeighB,
Read moreI do have to apologize for the slow and disorganized service. There are certain items on our menu that require less time to get ready than others. For example, our salads have a lot more parts that require more time to get assembled than say, the Avocado Smash on toast. This happens to be the way many food establishments work. Coupled unfortunately with the fact that there are very few people available to work in hospitality at present with a passion for food. I arrive at work every morning, prepare the "ok" food myself. I then, for the most part have to serve tables, make the lattes and cappacinos and assemble the food, wash dishes, check the toilets, run up and down 3 fights of stairs, serve and hopefully have a chance to chat and get to know my customers, primarily by myself. I must agree with you however, that there probably are superiour options within a 10 minute walk from where we are. I am not in competition with any of them as, like me, they are just trying to make a living and feed their families while doing what they love.
If we, aren't for you, it is what is. C'est la vie.
But I can assure you, that I get up every day, and do the very best I can, to ensure that I don't loose everything I have ever worked for due to the disgruntlement of 1 customer on one day, that we didn't meet an expectation, I did not set for them. Since you won't return, I can't make it up to you. But I am happy that your money will ensure that another superior option, gets to stay in business for another day.
Blessings to you dear LeighB.
LeighB
I agree that it is a lot to run up and down the stairs, wash up, prep the food, check the toilets and serve by yourself. All this manic running around creates a crazy environment which is not relaxing to dine in and evidently leads to delays and mistakes with orders. Perhaps fine if you want that Fawlty Towers vibe. Blessing to you too dear.

Not very nice comments to make about someone’s business. I’m guessing you’ve never experienced how difficult running a business can be. As for “superior options within a 10 minute walk”! There aren’t any fully vegan cafes that I’m aware of that close by. There’s always some jealous nasty person who try’s to tear others down. There’s also chronic complainers that are never satisfied.
Read moreLeighB
@kammie99 Yes I agree about chronic complainers who are never satisfied, urgh they’re the worst! I’m not one of those as you can see by all the 5⭐️ reviews I’ve written. I simply leave reviews, good or bad without fear or favour based on my own experience of a location - that’s the fantastic thing about free speech and what makes HappyCow so useful. What I’ve never done is attack any else’s review as I have no idea what their experience was like on the day. Also not quite sure why you think I’m “jealous” - I have absolutely no desire to make hot drinks for a living, nor work in Brighton (although if I did it would be a fabulous cafe, where my only rule would be that dogs can’t be larger than their owners)
