Southern Comfort - Edit
Brought my parents and my kids to Bean, and all three generations enjoyed the excellent, Southern comfort food. Oh, yeah, and it's all vegan! From now on, Bean is a "must" anytime I return back home to visit my parents.
Read moreBean is a little hard to spot off the highway, US 25, so keep you eye out for the sign. The restaurant has a nice, casual atmosphere, and the wait staff is up beat and helpful answering questions about the various menu items.
All of our meals tasted great, and were served in more than ample portions. We started with the fried cauliflower, with ranch and Buffalo sauces. For the main course the kids had fried Tofu Fingers and Cowboy Burgers, while the adults had Crabby Patties, Old Fashioned Meatloaf, and Reuben Sandwiches. We especially liked the side dishes we had: Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Collard Greens, Fried Pickles, and Mac and Cheese. The Raspberry Zinger Cake and the Chocolate Layer Cake desserts were very good, also.
We are definitely looking forward to going back to try the many other dishes on the menu, which look equally awesome.
Pros: Tasty comfort food, Friendly staff, Reasonable prices
Cons: None

One of my very favorite vegan spots! - Edit
Bean is hands down one of our very favorite nosh out vegan joints! We visit the Asheville area specifically for the food, beer and views, and Bean is always the very first place we go to. The Cowboy Burger is my absolute favorite (and maybe I genuinely shed a happy tear the first time I tried it lol). On more than one occasion, we have eaten multiple meals in a day there and we always day dream about it when we're home! All of the employees are always absolute angels as well. Super sweet and welcoming! They also carry some neat retail packaged vegan items, like mixes and boxed foods, that can be hard to find. Last but not least, the desserts are absolutely AMAZING! They're always changing and always some of the best we've ever had! Thanks for being so amazing, Bean!!!

A place where vegan dreams come true! - Edit
I have been vegan for only a short time but am no stranger to the struggles of the life choice. This place not only makes being vegan an actual cake walk but I was able to indulge in the foods everyone told me I'd be missing. Everything tastes amazing and I felt nothing lacking what so ever. Please support this place. Places like this make our community such a better place to exist

Great Familiar Flavors! - Edit
I thought Bean had some great options for vegans who want to have a taste of what they used to eat before going vegan. I really enjoyed my food, but the tofu strips sandwich I had wasn't excitingly good. The queso was GREAT. Definitely try that out and maybe even get it as an entree.

A little disappointing - Edit
We took a group of our non-vegan friends hoping to show off how tasty Vegan food could be. The menu is quite large which I initially was very excited about. The staff were nice and friendly. Sadly, when the food arrived it wasn't as tasty as we had hoped. It wasn't terrible, but I don't think we will go back.

Genuinely terrible - Edit
I was so excited to go to Bean Vegan Cuisine, as I was craving fried, southern food and the reviews were good. We were starving and ordered the fried pickle appetizer, the fried tofu plate and the cowboy burger. We also had 3 sides: mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and collard greens. Not only was all the food bland (poorly seasoned, poorly fried, unappealing textures), but some of it was genuinely distasteful to the point that I wouldn't eat it (mashed potatoes, fried tofu, mac and cheese). The pickles tasted alright but weren't fried properly and the burger was totally fine, so I give it a star for the burger and another star for being all vegan. I think they should just serve their burgers and have that be it.
Read moreAlso, keep in mind that this is a fast-food chain atmosphere.
Pros: Quick service
Cons: Terrible food (flavors and textures)

The best - Edit
The fried pickles. Seriously.
Read moreEverything here is amazing. The crabby patty burger is probably my favorite lunch/dinner entree, and it's everything you want it to be.
Staff is super friendly, and there's a little section of stuff you can bring home. This is where I got the follow your heart vegan egg before my friends in Atlanta could, and it was probably the first and only new vegan product I could ever try before they did. They also have those Joker faux-snickers bars that I love.
So I feel like I have to address the pictures they have on their website. They really need new ones. I looked at those pictures, toggled back to the menu, and then back to the pictures for the longest time before I felt like I could give this place a shot. I did not regret it. You will not regret going here.
Pros: Best vegan junk food omg, Seriously their fried pickles, Their staff is amazing but they work here so duh
Cons: Those pictures on their website really need to go

You are going to love it - Edit
I was traveling on business and I was looking for a local place that offered healthy food. I am working on being a vegetarian but my wife does not believe that you can have dinner without meat – it’s going to take a while.
Read moreBean Vegan is the first vegan restaurant that I have been that I would feel comfortable taking non-vegan friends and family to, to show them that no one has to die for you to eat a great meal. I didn’t know what to order so I asked what the server would recommend. She was very friendly and made several suggestions which I followed. I had a great quinoa burger that was spicy and delicious. I will go back to Bean Vegan anytime that I am in the area.
Pros: Great selection of comfort food options, Food options for everyone, Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Drive entrance is a little steep.

Vegan Junk Food Done Right - Edit
We loved this place so much we ate there twice in one day. My favorite out of everything we tried was the fishless sandwich. It was perfect. The flavor, the texture, the bun, loved it! Also really enjoyed my BBQ sandwich. They have an extensive all vegan menu and the staff was all great. I also like their little grocery selection in the front. We bought vegan candy bars to take to a movie later that day.

I don't normally write reviews but after four days of travel with 9 meat eaters, this place was a God send. The meatloaf, mashed potatoes and side salad were delicious!! I plan to go back each time I visit Asheville. It's better than Laughing Seed.

Yummy comfort food - Edit
We went several times while we were in Asheville. Bean has a great menu for any time of day. They have a lot of options, even for people with gluten sensitivities. Our favorite things were the queso dip, the fried pickles, the sides, and the desserts. I tried their cheesecake and their carrot cake cupcakes (both gluten free) - absolutely delicious. If you're in the area, at the very least go for dessert!

This all vegan restaurant is my favorite place to go when I want to have a big, decadent breakfast with all the fixings that is still vegan-friendly. It is far from health food if that's what you are seeking but it is oh so good! I love the Breakfast Bowl with some gravy on the side and the Jalapeno Burger is truly delicious!

I LOVE Bean. My kids and I took my husband for his birthday and we all ordered a different sandwich. Everything was great. The jalapeno burger is pretty much the best burger ever. We also ordered a fried pickle appetizer. This was my 1st experience with fried pickles and I was more than pleased. They were very tasty.
Read moreThe employees were really friendly and chatty. We enjoyed our overall experience at Bean and recommend it to all!
****Also, the food isn't "healthy." It's fried and salty and is exactly what it's supposed to be. I don't detract from a rating due to that. If I wanted super healthy and/or raw food/salads, I'd go to the appropriate establishment. If I want a burger and fries, Bean is the place! ;)
Pros: Great options, Delicious, Friendly

Friendly Comfort Food - Edit
We ordered Bean's Thanksgiving feast catering. They serve hearty southern comfort food, which was just what we Georgians wanted for our holiday meal. The food was good; we enjoyed the vegan brie (we topped with Bean's cranberry sauce, wrapped it up in a crescent roll sheet, and baked it-- yum!), curry squash soup, and the green bean casserole. The staff was very accommodating when ordering over the phone, and friendly at pickup. We'd love to eat here in-house next time!
