Like El Tahrir, Abu Tarek serves only one dish: koshary/kushari which is a traditional Egyptian vegetarian dish made with chickpeas, lentils, tomato sauce, vinegar, fried onions, rice, and noodles (which is almost always vegan). The kushari at Abu Tarek is reportedly vegan, and your only choice when ordering is what size (small or large). Vegans ask about beverages. Open Mon-Sun 7:00am-10:00pm.

Friendly staff, very cheap and authentic koshari. Loved it here, came back more than once. Highly recommend. Sadly there are no vegan desserts:(

You can be done in 15 minutes, if you want.

Really great koshary, and super cheap. The tomato sauce was really fresh and all ingredients good quality, best we had anywhere in Egypt. Small takeaway size is only 40EGP (perfect size for me, koshary is filling), and there are 4 sizes. You can customise to choose more or less of any ingredient. I’m sure it’s open later than the listing says too - we were staying just opposite and never saw the place closed!

Koshary here is delicious (but in my opinion the same as everywhere else!) The place was really funny with so many floors that all seemed to be totally full. They kept telling us to go up another floor. Really enjoyed it here.

Das Restaurant ist Riesen groß und auf 4 Etagen verteilt. Da es nur ein Gericht gibt, wird dieses super schnell serviert. Es war sehr lecker & preiswert. Der Service war auch total lieb & lustig unterwegs. Auf jeden Fall eine große Empfehlung.😄das Gericht besteht aus Nudeln, Reis, Linsen, Kichererbsen, Röstzwiebeln und einer Sauce.

Only one main dish, egyptian speciality. Ask the waiter to prepare it for you. Quite the show! I had mild stomach cramps afterwards, maybe stay away from the salad? Very cheap, only 70 pounds

THE BAD
The only dish they serve is koshary, so if you want to eat something else, side-dishes ect you’re out of luck. They do have desserts in the lower level but they’re not vegan, so you need to go somewhere else to satisfy your sweet tooth.
THE BEST
Koshary is humble Egyptian dish that is available in many places, but, the secret to this brand is in the sauce. In my first time, I was lucky to get a very vibrant waiter that not only asure me the dish is vegan but also mix the ingredients for me and his very friendly disposition left a great impression.
