Recipe for success!

20 Nov 2011

Their food is divine, the decoration/ambient is classy, the desserts are memorable, and the staff is very polite. I feel very lucky and tempted for living just 10 blocks away: this is the place my family and I would love to go all the time! But unfortunately you pay for the quality you get, so I wouldn't call the meals affordable. This is definitely a place to treat yourself and your friends.

Number one!

This is the fanciest vegan restaurant in NYC, in my opinion. The house-made desserts are SO good, I know the meal "should" start with the savory dishes, but if you go there you want to save some space for them. The food is very tasty, the dishes are elaborated, and the presentation is gorgeous. This is my favorite place for special celebrations, with fun and polite staff. It is not cheap, but the value is fair with what you will get - success in every dish!

Classics and innovative dishes!

Candle Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in town. They have tasty and hearty food, affordable, and in a fun/informal place. I specially like going there for brunch, even if I usually just order from the regular menu. The deserts come in large portions (good for sharing) and with beautiful presentation. Most of the people who work there are warm and helpful.
If they have enchilada DO ORDER IT - you won't regret!

Best brunch in NYC

05 Mar 2012

This is one of my favorite places in NYC! I have been there for brunch multiple times and every dish I ordered was exceptionally tasty, even better: the portions are large! I usually wait between 5-30 minutes (worse on sunny weekends) because they are really good! The people are super nice and the baked goods are perfect in taste and texture!
One down side: they don't have decaf coffee

Simple and Good!

This is a small bar in front of the Hungarian National Museum and close to university, and it serves simple but well prepared food. Everything is vegan, but some deserts contain honey. The place is simple, food is served in disposable plastic and paper plates, but all the dishes and deserts I've eaten there were very tasty. It is simple, so they are really not English speakers, although the lady helped me her best - bring a dictionary or choose by the look! Be surprised! I recommend the food and the place, just don't expect it to be a restaurant for travelers.

I would eat there every week.

I am totally addicted to the Caesar Salad there, it is the best I've ever had! I like the place/decoration very much, but I am not the only one: in the past few months the restaurant has been getting very busy, and reservation is strongly suggested. Their dishes are well elaborated and very very tasty! It is not cheap, but it is worth every penny.
If you have space in your tummy, do order dessert - they are awesome!

Latin Vegan Food

Yes, the empanadas are wonderful, but you really should try the lasagna at this hipster restaurant. Our whole family likes going there for lunch, and the owner is a super cool dude who supports many organizations/events. In the summer, the backyard is the best!

Great option for all!

I took 2 coworkers and a client to have dinner there, and all of us were very satisfied with our dishes. I definitely recommend the Southwestern Stuffed Pepper (main dish) and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie (dessert). The location is easy to get, the place is fun and super clean, and the service was excellent!

My new favorite place Upstate

My boyfriend and I had the an amazing dinning experience here! The place has a funky and cozy decoration, the food was super creative and tasty, all the beer they serve is brewed in NY State, and the waiters were fun/funny/friendly and very competent. Most of the food is locally grown, and seasonal. If they have available, you should eat the apple crumble!!! hummm

MY FAVORITE!!! Among all the restaurants in Manhattan, this is the one that I love the most! The majority of the dishes are SO tasty, and I don't really mind ordering the same dishes over and over again. The 3 Tapas deal is the best option to try more dishes in smaller portions - try the kale with Dijon mustard, it is surprisingly delicious! The desserts are also very good: some are healthy style (which I LIKE), and some are house-made decadent piece of heaven!
The place is simple but comfortable, and the huge windows make it very lit and perfect for an indoors Sunday brunch. Their brunch menu is SO good, I definitely recommend every dish there: banana french toast, walnut waffles, the scrambles, and sandwiches, etc - all delicious!
