A special place

I really enjoyed our experience at Bo De. Most dishes are around 15,000dong so it's really reasonable. If you're hungry though I recommend getting 2 dishes - the variety is nice anyway! I êspecially enjoyed the jackfruit sesame rice paper dish - unlike anything I've had before in a veggie restaurant. Although Bo De is on a main road they've created a nice restful and spacious environment out the back.

Unique Indian cafe

We walked past Lili Coffee Cafe mid afternoon when we just needed a snack to keep us going until the dinner we had already for booked later in the evening. We indulged in their delicious veggie samosas and they were just perfect. It turned out to be a lovely experience sitting in their side seating area and chatting to the very friendly owner. I would highly recommend it.

Worth treating yourself

There's no getting away from the fact that this restaurant is expensive but it is worth it for the quality and choice. We arrived in Hanoi having not had lunch that day and had a two course blow out at Tamarind - it cost us the equivalent of 332,000 dong (without any drinks) by far the most we have spent on a meal in our 4 weeks in Vietnam but it was all delicious. I particularly liked the eggplant and beancurd hotpot - I'm sure this would satisfy any meat eating friends needing persuasion on the tastes of veggie food. I also appreciated the magazines and books that were available for reading, a nice touch I haven't seen in that many cafes in Vietnam.

Great if you're in the mood for mock meat
10 Feb 2009
We spent just over 100,000vnd on two soups, two main courses and two cups of ginger tea. Not bad value but I wish I'd read about the locals menu before we went there! The staff were helpful with our enquiries about the ingredients - there were some flavours in the sweet and sour we just couldn't pin down. Generally the food was ok, nothing too spectacular but good if you're after a mock meat night as nearly every dish contains it.

A very popular place

We found the veggie stall selling 5000kip buffet plates just on the corner of the National Museum and we were very impressed. There were about 10 or so dishes to choose from including salads, rice, tofu, noodles and rice paper rolls for an extra 1000kip each. All were covered with clingfilm and you just help yourself. To be honest the plates aren't that big but you can pile them as high as you like - and what else can you expect for 5000kip?! - I would recommend it as a fantastic place for a light dinner. Nice to see it so busy. Grab a place at the communal bench as soon as you can (watch out for the wheels under the table) and just enjoy the Night Market around you.

I don't normally sound so gushing but our day at Cua Dai Beach and visiting Karma Waters on the way back was magical. Paul is a fantastic host with wonderful friendly staff. My husband had the set lunch (which by the way has gone up to 120,000vnd, but still worth it for the amount of dishes you get) and I had a mushroom/tofu dish, the textures of which was divine. This restaurant is more than just a pretty setting. We sat there for a couple of hours soaking it all in and left feeling satisfied but full of energy for the 5km walk back to Hoi An. You can tell they don't use MSG, the flavours of all the ingredients are recognisable.

My favourite restaurant in Samui

The restaurant here at the Spa Samui Resort is actually called 'Radiance' and it's such a shame it's not fully vegetarian (there are some fish and chicken dishes on the menu) so that I can give it five stars. There was so much to choose from that I visited on several occasions after a nice walk along the beach - sometimes twice a day! - and never got bored. My fave dishes were the very tasty and very healthy brown rice salad, the veggie 'hot dog' for a naughty treat, the spring rolls and the pesto spaghetti (although the portion size of this dish was not quite as large as the others :-)). Wash any of these down with a refreshing lime and honey cooler and you're fit to take more of the Thai humidity.

A beautiful setting for this restaurant at the entrance to Long Son Pagoda. My husband and I couldn't resist trying the veggie Pho soup as this traditional Vietnamese noodle dish is normally made with beef stock. It was delicious served with a tasty fresh green salad. Great value - we spent 32,000 vnd on both soups....and two cups of tea!

Be like one of the locals

This place is delightfully simple and a good place to hang out like one of the locals - including the monks from the pagoda next door. We pointed to almost everything in the buffet (they don't speak English but then you are in Vietnam) and we got a great selection plate of mock meats, veggies and rice.....and they were happy to refill my husbands plate when he asked for more. I think we were charged tourists rates but still good value.
