Lovely restaurant

This was a lovely restaurant. The food was not the tastiest ever (more spices thank you) and a bit too expensive to eat or drink as much as I wanted. But it has nice atmosphere and interesting and wide menu.

Sjökvarteret, Mariehamn, Finland

Great surroundings

I visited this vegetarian cafe in the summer 2008. Salad buffet seemed to be very basic. Not many vegan options. The surroundings are great, exactly the kind of seaside houses and a harbour that tourists usually come for to Mariehamn. People seem to come here for atmosphere and many of them are not the type that usually would visit veggie cafes.

Okay snack foods

Sandwiches, salads and bakings. Not suberb vegan food but okay. Cafe is partly volunteered by a youth organisation members. Closed on summertime July 2009.

Amazing junk food

It is great to sometimes visit a nice junk food restaurant. I visited this place in july 2009. I shared a portion with 4 different kind of meat sticks (drum sticks?) and then we had meaty salads with thick and tasty sauces. The shakes are great, especially the mint chocolate one.

Don't go there if you don't ever like to eat junk food, even creamy shakes. This food won't be good for you. We looked more ladylike than punks and the place was really welcoming and laid back.

Good and not too expensive

I stayed in Istanbul for a few days in the new year 2010-2011 and visited this restaurant twice. I took the vegan lunch of the day both times, it included a starter soup (lentils) and bread and a plate that included tasty rice and a vegan saslik that was vegetable in a stick covered with a pastry and deeb fried. The cakes were not vegan, but there was self-made vegan flap jack. The place was very neat and stylish and was situated just by the Istiklal Cadesi and Taksim Square.

Lots of mock meats

There were a lot of mock meats in this restaurant and it was very cheap. You choose what you want and they also bring some fresh veggies and herbs to the table. We ate there in February 2010 in the morning between 8 and 9 am. Then again about 1 pm because a meal was included in our mangrove trip and they brought us there again.

Cheap and excellent dishes

Sataytofu, currytofu and kungpotofu are my favorite foods in Helsinki, but also other veggie dishes are better than elsewhere. Sometimes dishes are perfect but sometimes not as "creamy" as usually. This is not an ordinary quiet chinese restaurant and not a place to spend more than one hour. It is usually very relaxed, noisy and crowded.

Large and tasty buffet selection in Obanzai

I visited Obanzai on July 2010 and all of the lunch buffet was vegetarian then, but if remember right, it was not all vegan, because I think the owner showed me which are vegan. Are you other sure that there is sometimes meat? This time there were many fake meats. And what a selection! And all japanese style foods. The lunch buffet was only 1050 yen.

Stylish

I visited Parsifal in the end of December 2010. A stylish place. My salad tasted "too healthy" so it did not have any special for being tasty.

Best restaurant I've been to

I visited this restaurant in October 2005 but I heard that is still was there a couple years ago. It has been the best restaurant I've been to. The buffet selection was huge, tens of choices between warm foods, lots of mock meats, sushi and dessers (I didn't eat desserts because I was too tired to ask if any of them were vegan). You could also ask cooks to cook the ingredients of you choice. It cost then only about 55 yuan.

Expensive, food okay

I visited Hanada Rosso on July 2010 and I thought that it was very expensive. I had a burger (very small one), a banana shake (very good, not a big one) and a slice of vegan cheese cake (a very tiny, dry and tasteless). I think it all costed about 2000 yen. The location is good and it is easy to find because it has a sign on a big shopping street.

Vegan raw chocolate cake

Almost perfect place to hang around. I had vegan raw chocolate cheese cake and it was great.

Good south indian food

We had masala dosa (excellent potato curry inside) and idli. With them came rasam or sambar sauce, coconut chutney and some spice powder. You could have more of those sauces. The place seemed to be in a kind of small alley and did not a remind the Saravana Bhavan in Delhi, but the food was great. And the waiter was very helpful.

Food gone bad

Unfortunately my sweet potato soup was contaminated in february 2010. I ate some of it and came to conclusion that a soup can not taste like this. It was cooked in the previous day. I got a new soup, a mushroom soup, which tasted awful. I just couldn't come back here. I hope others have not had this kind of experiences.
