Vege Food laden with Ghee - Edit

After twisting my partners arm as we are both lacto vegetarians I trusted the reviews of Happy cow and decided to take her their. We didn't eat the South Indian food as we've tried a few in Bangkok already so decided to go for our heritage food which was punjabi, never again food was laden with ghee and undercooked , stuff we saw their would close restaurants in our country (Blighty) front lady cashier was sweating so much it put us off our food.. Stuff being dropped and collected back in bowls?? Not in dustpan?? Anyway the people who have raved about this place before probably are from countries where hygiene officials can be bribed.

Great South Indian Brunch - Edit

This was the last day of our visit to Bangkok and my wife was unwell and we were looking for comforting home food. We found Saravana Bhavan on Happy cow and it turned out to be walking distance from our hostel. Locating the place was a fun experience and we walked through some traditional Chinese Indian areas of Bangkok. We were welcomed and seated at their nicest table and we ordered idlis, rava dosa and masala dosa. The service was lightening quick and the food took us back to our moms' kitchens.. The owner is a lady who is an experienced cook of South Indian food having worked in the kitchens of Komalas Bangkok before it shut down. Expect a laid back neighbourhood feel to the place and a humble owner who makes you feel at home.

Pros: Amazing food, Great feel

Good Indian Vegetarian Food & value for money - Edit

This outlet - Saravana Bhavan in Bangkok (near silom road area) is a very good Indian vegetarian joint providing authentic home style food and with nice warmth and hospitality. Food was tasty and made as per my request with no (less) oil / ghee / butter etc and was served within short time and the good thing about this place is that the owner (Thai lady Ms. Oun) is very responsive to customer requests and quite proactive as well. In short, a good place to eat if you are on the look out for pure Indian vegetarian food and priced right.

P.S: Please note that this outlet is no way connected to the hotel chain Hotel Saravana Bhavan (HSB) based out of India but
spread globally

Pros: Good Fod, Good Value, Friendly Staff

Very good for vegetarian food (Indian foods) - Edit

I think this is a nice restaurant. Taste of real Indian food. If you come here you will be welcomed by staff as well. Restaurant is not big enough to sit comfortably. How do you feel that you are eating your own food at home to take care of our employees have a taste in my meal even more delicious. When you want to eat delicious food and friendly service to customers, you will need to come into contact with small restaurants. At Manohra hotel tucked behind. Everyone is perfect for those who love to eat plain food Wirat. And I assure the cleanliness and freshness, attention to each step of the chef, you may wonder why chefs are Thai, but this does not taste the difference with India, even less.

Fantastic place - Edit

Saravana Bhavan - no relation to the Indian chain - in BKK is a gem of a place. It's a simple enough dine-in serving some seriously good food with an exceptionally gracious proprietor, Auhn. An authentic Indian resto run and managed by a Thai, this is an absolute must visit. While ordering keep it simple and stay away from the exotic such as the pizza dosa!

Pros: Service, Food, Convenient timings

Cons: Pizza dosa

Good south indian food - Edit

We had masala dosa (excellent potato curry inside) and idli. With them came rasam or sambar sauce, coconut chutney and some spice powder. You could have more of those sauces. The place seemed to be in a kind of small alley and did not a remind the Saravana Bhavan in Delhi, but the food was great. And the waiter was very helpful.

Pros: good food, location okay near Silom rd and river, cheap

Cons: was not easy to find

Authentic Indian Food by Amazing Thai Lady - Edit

They offer you a variety of South Indian as well as North Indian Vegetarian Cuisines. Very welcoming and caring manager (Ms. Atirtaya) and a multi-linguistic waiter will bring you home-made styled Indian taste that can only be harnessed by hard labor of preparing every in the kitchen; even the spices. You will come to know of their efforts in the first bite itself. Modest furnishing, but quiet ambiance in the clean hall gives you comfort to relish your wish-list. Speaking of all this, the prices on the menu are much lower than many other Indian restaurants in town. Seriously at times we couldn't add up if the price really covers the pay offs of the food. But the manager said that she doesn't really care much for profit, but just want to keep the customers satisfied. She also mentioned that she makes one order at a time thus need time to deliver it on the table in short time. She said "This is not a fast food joint; anyways, customers happily wait for their meal". We really enjoyed our meal there and highly recommend you to visit this place for real Indian food.

Pros: Authentic Preparation, Healthy Food, Friendly Staff

Cons: Not Visible from the Main Street
