Mid food, good atmosphere - Edit
Ohio’s oldest tavern, worth a visit just for that. If you’re vegan, you’ll find something to eat (falafel seems to be most popular, they were out) but it’s definitely a very meat-based spot (being German I guess that’s to be expected). I had a plain veggie burger that I dressed up with some baba ghannouj at home. Some stuff is labeled Vegan but isn’t? (Looking at you cauliflower wings) Go for the atmosphere, definitely double check the menu.

Did the trick! - Edit
Nice spot to go after hiking nearby; the menu seemed to have several vegan options (though they did confirm the cauliflower wings weren't, which was surprising) Staff were very helpful in figuring out vegan options, confirming everything available.
Read moreI might've liked it more if the falafel was available, but I guess that option goes quickly here! The vegan burger was decent, but a bit plain, and the pretzels were also pretty good.
Beer selection was also solid enough, and the outdoor seating had a nice atmosphere. Overall pretty good, but everything definitely felt too expensive for how average the food ended up being. I might stop by again the next time I'm in town if the falafel is available, though, might bump the rating up a notch :)

Germaneque food in the purported oldest-running tavern in Ohio - Edit
New ownership updated the menu within the past couple years with more vegan options. There are falafel bites (with vegan peanut dressing offered), falafel sandwich, cauliflower “wings”, black bean burger and several dishes where vegan bratwurst can be substituted for the pork version. I had the bratwurst player with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes which the owner ensured was vegan. They have a good local draft beer selection too.
Read morePros: Vegan comfort tavern food, very filling, Nice draft beer selection, Classic tavern building from 1827.
Cons: Service can be a bit spotty, no real issues tho, Mostly non-vegan options as a whole

weird experience - Edit
the waitress acted like i was so annoying for double checking what their “vegan” options were and she walked away from me. she argued with me that their “vegan” cauliflower was not vegan when it’s labeled vegan on the menu, so i asked why not change the menu? like how unsafe is that for us? she didn’t even come back so i just got up and left after 15 minutes… bad experience.

Must try the vegan sausage! - Edit
Very cool atmosphere and delicious vegan sausage dog with sauerkraut! Fries and salad and yummy side options as well. Falafel burger is okay, a little dry. Vegan black bean soup is good, but spicy! Vegan wings are also tasty.

watch out because the server told me that the vegan “wings” weren’t vegan and argued with me when i asked about updating their menu if its not lol
