I was excited, but then rather disappointed. Lovely staff, though - Edit
I was so excited to have a choice of so many typical Austrian dishes. It’s a nice atmosphere, the staff are lovely and it’s a cut above the usual fast food cafes. However, the main problem is the faux meat. The seitan (I assume that’s what it is) has the bitter back taste that I’ve had to work to lose from my homemade steaks etc. the texture is also too spongy, as though the dough hasn’t been sufficiently kneaded. This was the case in the (very salty) gulasch, and in the caraway roast. The schnitzel looks the part, but doesn’t really deliver on taste and juiciness. I soooo wanted to love it, as I liked the people a lot and admire what they’re aiming for. It’s quite easy these days to find great texture and taste in faux meat (Veggieez, for example, has really nailed it). I do hope they continue what they’re doing and maybe a bit of constructive criticism won’t be taken amiss.

I must say that we can highly recommend this restaurant. Not only do the have the nicest and most courteous waiters but the food is just always (we have been there twice now) very good. I fell in love with the baked cheese. We also had the seasonal pumpkin special and nougat dumplings. I am getting hungry again just thinking about them. Highly recommended.

Waren ehrlich gesagt etwas enttäuscht. Schnitzel hat garnicht nach Schnitzel geschmeckt, das spätzle war mit Vollkorn oder Dinkelmehl denk ich und demnach auch nicht so lecker und der Kümmelbraten hat geschmeckt und ausgesehen wie Schwarzbrot.. Gulasch war dafür sehr lecker mit Knödel!

If you are visiting Vienna and want to try traditional Austrian cuisine, this is the place to be!! All vegan, really puts effort into recreating the taste of dishes as I remember them from before going vegan. The service is always very good, the restaurant owner takes his time to make sure you are satisfied, also have been offered to try samples of new recipes multiple times. Had to take away one star, because it is quite pricey for the size of the meals, I’m also not convinced they put a lot of effort into the interior but this is just a personal ick of mine.

our first night in vienna, so we had to try a vegan wiener schnitzel, and we loved it! it tasted exactly like real schnitzel (if we remember correctly from when we used to eat meat). dont be misguided by the pictures, the taste makes up for how simple the dishes look. it also came with amazing kartoffelsalat.

We walked in at 21:20, over an hour before closing time, excited to try this restaurant we were speaking all day about. The waitress looked us up and down and asked “what do you want?”
Read moreWe asked for a table and she said the kitchen had closed. I then asked her if the hours listed are wrong and she said no, but we didn’t make a reservation. So we need to make one ahead? She said no, but they had a slow day and decided to close up already. They were already all cleaned up 1.5 hours before closing and didn’t offer to accommodate us in any way. While I understand having a slow day, they could have at least offered us drinks or dessert from the cold case. We were turned away without an apology or care. As a chef, who cares if my staff cleaned up already. Reopen your station then. We’re paying customers and prepared to order several items to share. They lost major business. Bad service and we left sad, hungry and disappointed.

With this kind of "Vegan" place, is where you wonder: Are the owners of this supposedly Vegan restaurant Vegan themselves? They would want to stay open for those that are trying to look for Vegan options on this Planet Earth where we Vegans are still the minority. They close like that & leave the costumers hangry & disappointed? They dont seem in it for a genuine reason to offer animal-friendly food. 🤦🏽♂️

Absolutely. Vegans are usually about kindness, compassion and sharing. It is strange and again, they can offer something easy to make or cold even. It hurts the movement when we have bad service and the person I was with leaves tomorrow and is vegetarian, so she felt that it’s too hard to be vegan because we can’t find options, but every restaurant has vegetarian options. As a tourist, she wanted to try the local food and this place makes local dishes vegan, but fine- she can just go have the regular one. 😫 they close 1.5 hours early and an animal dies because people planned on eating here, but then have to find last minute food elsewhere. Brutál 😭
