Good

While everything should have been fantastic I was a bit underwhelmed. The chicken and waffles were good - waffle cooked to perfection with some gardien chicken nuggets and a savory sauce with jalapeños. I was expecting a sweet plate. They must be known for their cold brew because my French press coffee water wasn't hot enough to brew the grounds. Probably a fluke in ordering and wouldn't deter me from visiting again.

Pros: Good location, Variety in menu options, Friendly service

yep yep yep :)

They say best vegan place in Vegas it must be true: simple but good food well prepared. Prices were good and the service is warm and great. Go there.

Pros: food and service

I really wanted to like this more

So, in the interests of fairness, I went for breakfast, and this review is only for breakfast.

I really, truly did want to like this place more (I always want to like 100% vegan places.) I almost feel like I went to some other restaurant than the other reviewers.

It's a convenient walk from my hotel, and the work I'm in town for, yet pleasantly away from the horrorshow that is the Fremont Street Experience.

Look, bottom line is that when I pay $10.95 for a breakfast burrito, it better blow me away. Or at least be excellent. Or at least very good.

This was just... good.

The menu lists the Burrito as containing "Black beans, Veggies & Chirzo tofu". It was chock full of potatoes, had a little substance with minimal taste that might have been the "chirzo tofu" (whatever that is), a decent amount of black beans, and about three pieces of vegetable. It tasted... fine. Okay. For $5.95? Sure. $6.95? Maybe. $10.95? Absolutely not.

The small sides of pico de gallo and guacamole are a nice touch, but too small, and too little, too late. The guac was very cold, and not that gorgeous green like fresh made guac is, but vaguely tending toward brown: it clearly came out of a fridge from a prior day. The small bowl of fresh fruit was the stuff you see on every hotel buffet line: watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Fine, but boring.

I didn't opt for a $3 cup of coffee, as I'd had coffee at my hotel.

The service was quite friendly, which wasn't hard given that I was the only non-staffperson in the restaurant until the bread delivery guy showed up.

Look, it's a cute place, and I'm glad there are vegan options in downtown Las Vegas, since most of the (reasonably affordable) vegan options in LV are a hike east or west from downtown/the Strip.

LV has become increasingly accommodating to vegans in the five years I've been coming here regularly for work, as long as you avoid the casinos. Or are rich, and can at eat at the Wynn. So I dunno: if I exhaust all of the other options, I might give VegeNation another shot for dinner. But I certainly won't be going back for breakfast.

I wish I could give it 2.5*. But I just can't give it 3. It does need improvement.

Pros: nice staff, downtown location

Cons: EXPENSIVE, menu descriptions misleading, EXPENSIVE

Delicious food, lovely food - highly recommend!

I tried the blueberry waffles and the french toast for breakfast - both were delicious!

For lunch I tried the soft tacos and the Italian dumplings, and we got a free dessert (a delicious brownie sundae with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, banana, strawberries and brownie pieces) for signing up to their newsletter!

Also they brought us ice cold water without asking when we arrived which was very welcome in such a hot place!

Definitely go to Vegenation if you are in Vegas - it is only a short taxi ride from the main strip and is walking distance from Fremont Street. And don't miss out on their blueberry waffles!

Pros: Vegan waffles, Friendly staff, Yummy desserts

First visit - they DELIVERED - top notch

My first visit.... SUPER great food, service, people, atmosphere. The chocolate dessert tacos were amazing (but tiny - ok size by dessert time). The sweet potato quesadilla was SO tasty. Great concise menu - not overwhelming. What really stood out was the great vibe of EVERYONE working there - team players of joy. Ambiance is chill too! Way to go downtown Vegas!

Pros: Food quality/variety, Staff, Location/sense of community

Cons: Plastic straws - ditch 'em

somehow exceeds the hype

As a local Las Vegan, the buzz from fellow local vegans for the months before this place's opening was crazy. I thought there was no way it could live up to it.

Holy hell was I wrong.

I take everyone who comes to town here. Anytime I'm downtown I stop by - it's so conveniently located it's hard not to stop by.

Pros: delicious, vegan, convenient

Hearty food and lots of it

Ate here on a Monday night, they were busy but not packed. The tagine and the Out Of Africa stew were both very good. This was A LOT of food, we could have shared one dish and been full. Dinner tonight = leftovers for lunch tomorrow

very friendly & good food

the staff there was very friendly (thanks for the water to go) and the food was also tasty: chia bowl and waffles were very tasty, the scrambled tofu with potatoes a bit too spicy and with aubergine (which I didn't know and don't like)

Pros: friendly, nice seating

Great place in downtown

Great place with some alternative people like they are typical for vegan restaurants.
We were there on a Sunday at noon and the brunch menu was a little bit limited but everybody found something he liked. The regular menu offers more entrée choices.

The food tasted good and the portion was enough to not leave space for a dessert. They don't try to replace meat by some soy meat. Instead they use vegetables which are close enough but give a different taste. This worked well for our sushi, tacos and burritos.

Pros: great variety: Italian, Mexican, Asian, close to downtown

Cons: far away from strip

Pleasant Surprise

I was kind of skeptical to visit this place because their menu looked too eclectic for my liking. My husband insisted that we try it - I am so glad he did. This place is awesome! Their food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. I can't say enough good things about their sushi roll (appetizer) and their pizza is kinda deep dishy. SO GOOD!

Pros: Delicious, Healthy, Lots of whole food options

A vegan oasis in the desert

Short version: great food, great atmosphere, great service, great location. Everything a vegan could ask for and more!

Long version: I was recently in Vegas (staying on the strip) with a group of non-vegan family and friends. I knew going in that there were not going to be a whole lot of vegan options, but I was OK with this since my next stop was Portland, which is a gourmet vegan paradise.

But after a week of dining on the strip, the slaughterhouse ambiance started to get to me (several places literally showcased hanging animal carcasses). My travelling companions all had flights out a day earlier than me, so on my last day there I pulled up the HappyCow app on my phone and it told me that there are exactly 5 vegan options within 100 miles of Vegas, of which only 2 are actually sit down restaurants.

One of these is the newly opened VegeNation which is not on the strip but in the nearby and newly revitalized downtown area, right across the street from Container Park which I had been planning to visit anyway. I went for brunch and the food was so good I returned for dinner and an early breakfast the following day. I thoroughly enjoyed every meal, not just for the food, but also the atmosphere is very pleasant and the service was fantastic: fast when you need it to be but happy to let you just relax and hang out.

Everything on the menu looked good to me, so for dinner I ordered three different appetizers: vegan sushi, mushroom/spinach dumplings, and lentil/pumpkin tamales. The sushi was good, the dumplings were great, and the tamales were absolutely amazing (my only suggestion to the chef: increase the filling/masa ratio, the lentil/pumpkin filling is to die for).

The restaurant has a very pleasant interior, with a large communal table as well as plenty of individual tables, and a wall covered in plants. The chef and the staff are clearly all highly motivated to make the restaurant a success, and I urge you to visit VegeNation whenever you are in Vegas. It is not on the strip, but you can easily hop on "the deuce" (the #2 bus that runs up and down Las Vegas Blvd) and it is just a few blocks off Las Vegas Blvd. While you are there you can check out Container Park (the fire-breathing grasshopper out front is very cool), and if you are into the Vegas nightlife thing, check out the Fremont St. experience a few blocks away (it is basically a huge street party with people zip-lining overhead -- a lot of fun but very loud).

Pros: Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere

One of the best restaurants in Las Vegas

This place is great! Very friendly stuff, nice atmosphere, good food...
I was in love with the "Save The Tuna" Sushi.
Try the Brownie Sundae for dessert! :)

Unfortunatly it's downtown, away from the strip (5 miles by foot), so you need a car oder taxi. Meter-Parking ist available right on the corner.

A must visit!

Pros: very friendly, serves breakfast, atmosphere

Vegan In Vegas: Joyful Eating at VegeNation

Wow. What an amazing culinary experience I had at VegeNation in downtown Las Vegas. The address is 616 Carson Ave, #120 Las Vegas, NV 89101 to be exact. The Jackfruit Tacos aka East West Taco were super amazing and the Quinoa Spaghetti (Mama Mia) brought back memories of mama’s meatballs. I even purchased a VegeNation t-shirt as a reminder to return as soon as possible.

Also on deck were Hot Tamales, Wok’ed Veggies, Bao Wow (with Asian BBQ tofu, shitake mushrooms and spinach) and a brownie with coconut ice cream on top. It was my anniversary weekend so Misa and I deserved it. The cafe styled vegan eatery also serves breakfast. Prices are very fare but expect to dish out $27 for a cab ride from the strip. But more importantly the music created a melodious vibe. When Robert “Nesta” Marley came on I knew this spot would become a permanent marker on the revisit list. Not all of Vegas is sinful! ‪

Pros: Massive Variety, Large Portions to share, value priced

Cons: far from the strip

Excellent Vegas Choice

It's exciting to see that Las Vegas's vegan restaurant offerings are growing.

This new restaurant is one of the first, if not the first vegan restaurant offerings in Vegas that is not a raw food restaurant or a take out type restaurant.

Vegenation has a comfortable atmosphere, quiet and tastefully designed. The waiting staff is very pleasant, helpful and attentive.

The food is really good. I ordered a vegan tamale, and it is the best vegan tamale I have had.

My waiter suggested I order the spaghetti with "meat" balls, which turned out to be best vegan meat balls I have ever had. These dishes could convince any meat eater that vegan food is excellent.

For dessert, I decided to go healthy with a vegan berry smoothy. Once again, a perfect choice for me. Creamy, healthy and just divine.

I will be back!

Pros: Food, Decor

vegan restaurant in downtown vegas

What a great vegan restaurant. I was visiting downtown vegas for the Punk Rock Bowling Festival in May 2015 from the UK and found this restaurant very close by and in walking distance from fremont street. The food is excellant and the staff are really frendly and always willing to help. They have a great menu from the starters to the desserts all at a reasonable price. A must visit to any vegan or meat eater

Pros: 100% vegan, nice and varied choices, reasonably prices and a fresh food

I pledge allegiance to VegeNation

I go to the downtown area of Las Vegas a couple times a year for work. When I started going 10 years ago, it was not easy to find much vegetarian in the area. What a difference a decade makes! Now the Triple George Steakhouse has a vegan menu and O Face donuts have several vegan donuts. And the latest entry is this all vegan restaurant. I ate here twice and was very pleased (as were my omnivore friends). My favorite things were the sushi (it would rate even higher had I not discovered Shizen, the amazing vegan sushi place in San Francisco), the ravioli (such a unique and fresh take) and, surprisingly, the delicious side dish of red beans and curry quinoa. The chef came out after one of our lunches and talked to us for a good five minutes. He was very gracious and is obviously passionate about good vegan food. I will definitely come her again (and again). I really hope this place is successful.

Pros: Good food, reasonable prices

VEGAN HEAVEN

So happy I found this! All vegan, all delicious. I got the sweet potato quesadilla and my mom got the sweet potato Italian dumplings (ravioli). Both were insanely delicious. And for dessert, chocolate ice cream sundae which was perfect. Definitely go here if you're in Vegas! #vivalasvegans

Fantastic on all three visits.

My partner and I visited Las Vegas in May. We had dinner at Vegenation on our first night. We shared three starters. We have been vegetarian for 25 years andhave eaten all over the world. Our home in Vancouver BC has great restaurants. I can honestly say that Vegenation is in the top 10. The sushi is seriously one of the best of the best things I have eaten. The tamales are fine but could be moister..my partner loved them and had them again on our second visit. The bad wow buns are amazing, I have never had anything like them. Desserts..the brownie sundae is crazy good. Not too sweet with chewy brownie bites on the bottom that I loved. I am still craving the carrot cake. On the last night on our stay we walked from Main just to get dessert. On our second visit I had the ravioli. on my first tasee of the sauce, I was a bit put off. I belive it has a strong saffron flavour, however when combined with mouthfuls of fresh tender ravioli the flavors fell together and I couldn't get enough. My partner had the tamales...which he loved. This is a must visit restaurant and a fun area of downtown
excellent coffee btw and good servers. Attentive and knowledgeable.

Pros: yum, great area of old Las Vegas, healthy and affordable

Cons: not in my home town.

Good but needs improvement!

So we went with really high hopes. Nice atmosphere, nice servers (although I don't think our server has even tried the food himself. And the hostess was wearing so much makeup it looked like a mask)!

We ordered the sushi and the dumplings to start - sushi was AWESOME. I mean, everything else could be horrible but I'd still go back for that. Seriously good. The dumplings were pretty good, a bit soft though.

The mains were tried were the Casa Blanca - really really not good...it's like something I'd just throw together when I don't feel like cooking something actually good...Gnocchi - the sauce was really thin...nice flavor, but kinda just an odd dish, just not quite right. The ravioli were...meh. Not flavors you might really want in ravioli. One small taste was enough for me.

The brownie sundae I heard was the best ever, but it was awful! I LOVE dessert and I couldn't get through even half. Everyone else tried a bite, and no one wanted another. Seriously, desserts from Bite Vegan Bakery and Red Velvet and Veg Out and Garden Grill, ETC are wayyyy better than that. The caramelized banana was good, I wish it had just been that.

I know a lot of you are gonna hate me for this review, but I've eaten at so many vegan restaurants in lots of places and they just don't measure up, I really hope they get better! If they fix the kinks, I'd go here once a week (at least for the sushi)!

Pros: SUSHI, okay menu, average food

Cons: needs improvement, unimpressive, disappointing

vegan food and booze

Great selection of house made vegan delicacies. We enjoyed the pizza, burger, and gnocchi. All were great and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. They have juice tails which are fresh juice and vodka and good wine selection
