Very tasty place - Edit
This was a very nice dinner, we shared a starter plate and had a burger each. It’s a bit pricy for what you get and the waiters made the seating a bit difficult, given it was half empty, but the food itself was great for sure!

Read moreHortobágy-style pancake with soy meat shared between two people, Forest mushroom creamy homemade Gnocchi and Forest Mushroom Paprikash. All of it was amazing, generous portions. Unfortunately, we didn't have space for desserts, but they also looked amazing. Ended up changing our existing reservation for the following evening and coming back to Vegan Garden. It's definitely a must if you're in Budapest.

Popular restaurant - Edit
A very popular restaurant in Budapest. I ordered the pancake with sausage, and a picante pizza. The pancake was a bit of a let down, it reminded me of a tinned meal we have back home in my country. The picante was good, but sadly with store cheese, which rather often tastes like slime. I would have given it three stars, but am in a good mood today

Fabulous meal at this place. Opted for the Mushroom Paprikash and it didn’t disappoint. Hubby had the lasagne. Both so good 😋

Best restaurant in Budapest for my non vegan husband - Edit
My husband found that this restaurant was the best we ever visited for a bit more than a week. He is not vegan, but I am. Very, very aimiable staff! And the food was very good too.
Read moreNice and modern decoration. We went there in the beginning of June 2022 and I didn't go back in January 2023, but it is absolutely sure that I will return to that restaurant in the future. We had been to a running sushi, a lebanese restaurant - in short anywhere where I could hope getting something vegan to eat.
I went back alone on Sunday the 28th of April 2024. It seems to be a very popular restaurant. This time I had the bean goulasch and it was VERY good and afterwards I had a cake which was also very good. I had to do with a young very charming waiter who told me that he was not vegan. I told him to get vegan the sooner the better :-).

By far the best 100% vegan experience I’ve had in Budapest - Edit
I’ve been on the hunt for veganized Hungarian dishes since being here, and by far, Vegan Garden took the cake.
Read moreAll I tried was the Hortobagy pancake. And oh my god - the sauce was so creamy and flavorful, the soy meat filling wasn’t overpowering (and made it protein rich) — I’m at a loss for words.
Wish I came sooner and got to try their other stuff! They don’t have a massive menu, and it’s filled with many generic dishes that didn’t grab my attention, but the ones that did, I’m dying to try.

High quality and delicious - Edit
A bit on the pricier side, especially compared to other places in Budapest, but the quality is there to support the price. Everything is high quality, clean, professionally looking, etc. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and the service fast and welcoming. They don’t have tap water but FloeWater, which shares all benefits with tap except for the price. After I finished my 4 courses and said I’d like to relax, I was offered a spot on a very comfortable couch. Overall a great experience.

Great Vegan Hungarian Food - Edit
We ate here twice, the first time we got mostly Hungarian dishes including the mushroom paprikash which was absolutely delicious. Our non-vegan Hungarian friend even loved it. My daughter loved the hot chocolate and pizza as well. The second visit we got like bowls and did not enjoy them as much but still such a great restaurant with a huge variety and beautiful atmosphere

Meh - Edit
It felt a little like they're using cheap ingredients in "pretty wrapping". The taste itself we would rate a 3/5 and it's pretty expensive for what you get. English translations might not fit the expectations. The cabbage dumpling were more like thick cabbage pasta dough.. even the waiter afterwards said he'd rather describe it like that.

Really good but service was just meh - Edit
I really liked the food at Vegan Garden. I had the mushroom paprikash and my husband the margarita pizza. Both were excellent. The highlight was the sugar free sour cherry lemonade. I could drink buckets of that. It took 2 separate electronic reservations before they finally replied and said it was good to go. Then service for us was weird. It was like we were a bother to our server. He wasn’t rude but I would not say he was friendly either. It didn’t ruin our experience but it certainly didn’t make it spectacular either.

Venue was easy to find, bright and inviting. Staff were o.k. Burgers and spaghetti dishes were good but the cabbage dumplings and beetroot salad (just slices of beetroot) were very disappointing, stodgy and not much sauce.

The green noodles! - Edit
Got to try this place as a stop on a vegan tour of Budapest and everything we tried was amazing. My favorites were the green noodles and the savory pancake. Not sure what the exact names were since our guide ordered for us. Service was also very friendly and understanding of a food allergy that someone in our group has. They also had a nice wine selection.

Beautiful vibe, very nice place for a cozy dinner. Went there without a reservation and they were accommodating, although my second time couldn’t find a place. So make sure to reserve! The food is worth it.

Soulless and underwhelming - Edit
We visited Vegan Garden for dinner one evening. The menu is 100% vegan and offers a few local dishes together with the usual mix of burgers, pizzas and pasta dishes. We tried the mushroom paprikash and the cabbage dumplings. Both were pretty good, though not amazing. Prices are quite high by local standards, with main dishes costing around 4,000-5,000 HUF. Add in a beer each & the service charge and you're looking at around 15,000 HUF for for people. Overall an ok experience but it all felt a little soulless. I left feeling underwhelmed.
