You would be doing a disservice to veganism by not eating at this place. Genuinely one of the best meals I’ve had in my almost 30 years of eating food with my mouth.

Loved it - Edit
I went here with two non-vegans and we all loved our meals. I got the juju grill set with gyoza. The grill came out sizzling and was delicious. The gyoza were pan-fried to perfection. Great location near Harajuku Station and the nearby shrine

Top 3 Vegan Restaurant in Tokyo - Edit
A must go in Tokyo.
Read moreFood was gorgeous, staff kind and really good ambience.
One of the best ramens we’ve tried in 22 days in Japan. The juju grill (soymeat grilled on an iron plate) it’s tasty and filling. Gyozas are really good and quesadillas are a funny japanese version.
We came back a few times. It’s next to a train station so it’s easy to get there.
We’ll be back!

Must Go Award winning restuarant - Edit
Update (2025): This burger is heavenly. Literally one of the tastiest burgers I’ve ever had. Got it with double meat and I do not regret it. I put the cheese sauce on it as well (please don’t tell the restaurant) and it enhanced it so much.
Read moreYou need to go here. It’s great and in an easy spot. It’s also recently won the Japan Vegan Awards Cafe and Restaurant prize for 2024
Original (2023): Had the Juju Grill and the Mentaiko. Both were great, with the mentaiko offering a unique flavour I’ve never had before. Recommend that you must order the Jujugrill with rice.
Wait to sit was a bit long considering how much available space was in the restaurant, but food came quickly enough otherwise

Takeaway and dine in! - Edit
I had Vegan Bistro Jangara for a takeout option (uber eats) one of the first nights I was in tokyo. They offer a delicious rice bowl with the bbq soy meat as an online takeout only option (a must try!) and then I also dropped by on my birthday as we were in Shibuya earlier in the day. For my sit in meal, I had one of the ramen bowls, with extra bbq soy meat (yum!) and then the soy milk pudding for dessert. i absolutely love their food, it’s always delicious and the quality of ingredients will not let you down. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by. Close to Harajuku station, you just need to take the lift to the 2nd floor.

Amazing place - Edit
So good, I went there twice while I was in Tokyo.
Read moreCan recommend their vegan kobonchan ramen. Lots of taste and filling.
I also tried the grill soy meat plate. The presentation is quite impressive, it comes to your table sizzling. Tasted good, tender and quite juicy, while not being too heavy or greasy. Got gyozas, karaage and dessert (raspberry mousse chocolate cake) as well. Gyozas tasted crispy and fresh, and had a nice char. Karaage was good with refreshing sauce. The cake was tiny (just a little slice), and was partly frozen, but tasted great nonetheless.
Plenty of options here (almost too many), so don’t miss this place.

Best ramen - Edit
This place had the best ramen I’ve ever had! The spicy ramen was spicy, but not too spicy! The soy meat, gyoza, and fries were also perfect. Cannot record this place enough! #Veganuary

Delicious but honestly not sure how I'm still alive - Edit
I had the karabon here and I'm still not sure whether or not I regret it. It was once of the most flavourful ramen I've ever had but it was so spicy that I'm pretty sure my Indian/African ancestors were looking down on me tutting while tears came out of my eyes.
Read moreWas it supposed to be that spicy? Did the chef see the tinge of brown on my skin and think "he'll handle it"? I guess we'll never know. All I know is that I came out of this restaurant a changed man. 10/10 would go again and pick something else next time.
Pros: Flavour and portion size, Good selection of options for everything
Cons: Very busy, prepare to wait at the entrance, Ancestor judging

Lovely place and great ramen - Edit
On the first floor, a modern, clean and bright restaurant with ambient music playing.
Read moreMy partner had a burger - it was small and not very good but I reckon that’s what he gets for ordering Western food in Tokyo haha. I had the Kobonshan tonkotsu style ramen which was delicious. So much umami flavour and the fried garlic oil was tasty. Great value ramen for ¥1450.
The waiter was super friendly but the poor guy was run off his feet, there was a queue of people sitting at the entrance waiting for a table even though by the time we left there were lots of free spots just waiting to be cleared and reset.
A nice place and would come back.
Pros: great ramen, very affordable , nice restaurant environment
Cons: could be a bit of a wait for a table

Vegan delights in the heart of Akihabara - Edit
Vegan Bistro Jangara has a wide array of dishes that really do capture the imagination & excite the palette. With delights such as Buffalo wings, Ramen & other Japanese / western foods, you will find something for everyone.
Read moreI would encourage you to learn just a little Japanese, many of the guests we saw didn't use any Japanese. I think that is a mistake, because often miscommunication can happen & misunderstandings can occur between the staff. If not Japanese, I would recommend using English to support navigating this restaurant.
Pros: The food is delicious , The location is very central, The staff are energetic & enthusiastic

Loved it - Edit
Really enjoyed the food from Vegan Bistro Jangara. They had a great mix of traditional Japanese food and more western food so you have options depending on what you’re after. The sizzling soy meat was exceptional and a good opportunity to try a cooking method that is rarely vegan friendly.

Super delicious ramen and lovely service - Edit
We saw it was open til 9pm on Google maps, but it’s last orders in by 9pm, closed by 10pm, so that was good.
Read moreYour order is taken while you wait and you are served when a spot opens up. Big shared tables.
The ramen itself was really delicious! We got the spicy ramen and the roasted garlic one. Spicy was at the upper end of what we could enjoy. I preferred the roasted garlic one but both were so good.
The karaage was nice, not very meaty or chewy in texture but it was a nice fried thing with some delicious tartare sauce.
A great first dinner in Japan for us, and so close to Harajuku station, practically across the road, so it’s easy to get to after a tiring day sightseeing. Highly recommend!
Pros: Delicious ramen , Didn’t wait long in the queue, Good service

Decent ramen - Edit
We had the Karabon ramen (a bit too spicy for me) and the Kobonshan ramen (too oily, no garlic flavor). Fresh ingredients, good portion sizes, but not amazing. The specialty non-alcoholic drinks were very good. The raspberry mousse chocolate cake wasn’t bad. A decent meal. Wish I’d ordered the seared soymeat plate, that looked better. The place was packed on Saturday night, with a line of people waiting. Makes me happy to see an all vegan restaurant doing well.

Tasty and nice location - Edit
It is located very close to Harajuku and Shibuya, easy to spot thanks to the neon sign by the window that says “Vegan” ! The food is amazing, so tasty and rich. Went with some non-vegan friends and they loved it. Staff is friendly and ready to help you with questions and advices. We had the gyozas, karage and ramen and they were all 10/10
