Some of the best vegan junk food I've had

Cute little diner tucked away in the backstreets of Manchester city centre. I had a cookies and cream shake that was to die for and a really good burger and fries.

Also loved the inspiring (and some downright hilarious) messages left on the bathroom stalls!

Pros: Entirely vegan, Lots of options, Friendly people

Cons: None

Fab burgers and other diner-style food

Large menu with burgers, pancakes, shakes, mac-n-cheese, salad, drinks - hot, cold, non-alcoholic, alcoholic, including three beers on draught. I had the Breakfast Burger, adding tater tots for £1. The burger had a beefy patty, smoked gouda, baecon, tofu-omelette patty, garlicky kale and bun spread top and bottom with smashed avo - yum! The Lervig session IPA was refreshing. Another time, I grabbed a cookies-n-creme milkshake (large size only, for takeaway, £6), which was good. There are some truly decadent things on the menu, such as beefy patty/baecon/cheez/onions sandwiched between donut slices!
There is an adjacent seating area, linked by corridor at the rear.

Pros: all vegan, comfort food!

Favourite place

Love eating here when visiting Manchester. Even my meat eating family can't get enough. Huge burgers, just try to make room for dessert because they are amazing too!

Like V much

Had to come here while I was in Manchester for a vegan festival and it was well worth it. So much choice and all classic diner favourites on the menu. For what it is food is outstanding and for me one of the best diners in the country.

Pros: Everything

Simply the best

I've never had any better vegan junk food. It's slightly expensive and takes a while to arrive, but once you actually start eating everything else will be forgotten. It's amazing! Consider avoiding this place if you currently follow more of a healthy diet.

Pros: Incredibly tasty, Great menu, Lovely staff

Cons: Can get extremely busy

Underwhelming

I've been a few times since back in the old venue and the food's always been mediocre. Large portions but average burgers, bland mac and cheese, watery milkshake. I kept thinking I must have caught them on an off day or something because they've not really lived up to the hype.

My Favourite little naughty pleasure is V-Rev

I try to go V-Rev every month if I have the funds as it is quite pricey but you have to pay for good for things. I have had so many delicious meals at V-Rev and the owners are welcoming and cooperative.
I get upset when they change the menu because the food is spectacular! They tend make up for it in the newer menus. Their Burgers and Cheesy Fries with Vegan Bacon bits are lush. I love you guys Man!

Pros: Burger textures and flavours were delicious , Friendly Staff, Lots of Choice

Cons: Quite Expensive, Some customers can be a little stuck up and rude

Book or don't bother

Unless you book a table in advance, go somewhere else. Even if more than half of the place is empty, you won't get a table unless booked. Been lots of times and it's a fantastic place, but this needs to be a warning to others.

Pros: Gorgeous food. , Alcahol served.

Cons: Need to book, don't waste time travelling.

All about the sauce

Had no idea what to expect so was pleasantly surprised on how welcoming and friendly the place was. The diner advertises as "junk food" so the menu was exactly what I was after. There were plenty of options so it was quite tricky to choose. My Kebabadook could maybe have benefitted from a little more kebab but other than that it was spot on. Delicious. For me it was all about the sauce. The different toppings made it it a real treat and something I would happily eat again. The price point means that it was more of a special treat than a cheap lunch but what you get is so much tastier than your average junk food offering. Yum.

Pros: Tasty beer., Good tunes.

Cons: Fairly pricey

Seriously good junk food

I must go to v rev a few times a month. It’s pretty cheap. Their hot dogs are insane. The cute names in the menu keep you entertained.

If you’re getting anything - get the buffalo the vampire slayer hot dog. It’s insane.

Pros: The hot dogs - best seitan hot dogs on earth, Mega selection of drinks, Super clued up staff that are always friendly

Cons: Can be a bit busy if you don’t book ahead

** THE BEST **

Basically, we'd move in if we could.

Probably been hundreds of times, and all in all, wouldn't change 'em for the world.

Fried things and cocktails, yessir.

Plus no unnecessary gendering of toilets. 💜

I really have no idea how we managed to forget to review to date, but now the deed is done. X

Junk food vegan heaven

Amazing choice of food, and tasted awesome. The loaded fries were the best thing I’ve ever tasted and OMG the halloumi fries! We booked online with no issue, it was busy so would definitely recommend booking. Was too full for dessert but great choices. Will definitely be back next time we are in Manchester.

Pros: Lots of choices , Great tasting food , Reasonably priced

Cons: Service was a bit slow but it was a busy night

Lived up to expectations!

Been wanting to eat here for ages after hearing great reviews and we weren't disappointed. Jalapeno poppers were unavailable so we had spicy (mild) wings and mac'n'cheeze to share to start, all delicious. I had the seitan chicken burger with smashed avocado, cheeze sauce and crispy onions - fantastic! Others had hot dog and beef burger and we shared some amazing loaded fries (kebab). Only wish we'd had room for pudding but we were all too full

Pros: Everything you could ask for in a vegan diner

The perfect burger

I have a long standing love affair with burgers, going back to my childhood where the gold standard was set in a rather unlikely setting of Tooey's, an imitation Tex-Mex place on the suburban fringes of Glasgow adjacent to the Cathkin bypass (as a side note this was strange hotbed of quality food with both the adjacent Chinese and Indian restaurants enjoying good reputations in the late 80s/early 90s). Anyway I have long since tried to find a burger, both when I ate meat and since giving it up, that could match the chili burger I enjoyed as an occasional treat from Tooey's back then. There was something about the combination of the burger, the chili con carne and the toasted bun that combined in a heavenly fashion.

Well 25 to 30 years later I have finally found a burger that could measure up, and perhaps surpass it, and that is the Jerry Zinger from V-Rev. The Jerry Zinger is "buttermilk" fried seitan "chicken" with a spicy chili sauce, tater tots and jalapeno popper. Heaven. I pared it with a side of their loaded fries - the kebab ones and it was as happy an eating experience I can remember. Certainly for a Monday lunch time.

I wish I lived in Manchester so I could come here every Monday lunchtime and work my way through the menu.

My one quibble was all the desserts were chocolate based, when what I want to round off my diner experience is apple pie and ice cream

Pros: Friendly staff, Add-ons very good value

Cons: All deserts contained chocolate

Great vegan fast food done right

The food here is so good, I had the seitan chicken burger that you can get for a fiver on weekdays as part of their lunch deal. Total bargain. Prices are a bit steep otherwise but it is great as a vegan treat.

I also recommend the oreo milkshake

Pros: tasty, cool vibe, lots of choice

Cons: expensive menu

Best vegan junk food ever

The restaurant is super cosy, the vibes are on point with great food. The space is a bit small for large groups but I recommend taking some friends or family there to try the best vegan junk food. They'll for sure find out how vegan food can be tasty and flavourful.

Pros: Everything is vegan, Food tastes amazing

Cons: Some options are a bit expensive.
