Former fan / will not go back

UPDATE: The vegan chef who crafted the vegan menu left in 2019. They continue to offer vegan options but do not have the same level of variety or quality. More importantly, on 6/10/21, the co-owner shot a 16 year old for stealing a tip jar and allegedly beating a customer who tried to stop him (the customer sustained minor injuries to his face and declined medical attention): https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/man-arrested-after-shooting-teen-who-stole-tip-jar-assaulted-person-st-louis-police-say/article_ee736bbb-51a9-5f76-a690-ef888651de7d.html

Original Review:
Love this vegan junk food joint, where the vegan head chef has vegan-ized some fast food favorites. The menu does have some non-vegan items on it, but the menu is about 3/4 vegan. Our smash burger, big mak, and t-ravs were excellent. Service was friendly, and we enjoyed the outdoor seating at night.

The price point seems a little high until you consider that the chef is making a lot of things from scratch and it’s cheaper than a lot of Impossible burgers sold around town in other restaurants.

Won’t kill animals, children okay!

I have eaten at Utah station multiple times but not anymore. As a vegan I believe ALL life is sacred. Potential diners should know that a child was recently shot over a stolen tip jar at this restaurant. Will never return.

I won't defend the actions of the owner, as well-intentioned as they may have been at the time. In fact, the use of a deadly weapon in what I imagine was a somewhat busy restaurant was incredibly irresponsible, and the individual who fired the shots should be made to understand the results could have been significantly more tragic. Guns are a foolish measure of defense.

Having said that, the sixteen year old, and his friend who helped perpetrate the crime of theft was likely no "child". Legally, yes, but emotionally and psychologically, sadly he probably left his childhood a few years back. When you intentionally cause harm to another human being, and in doing so don't hesitate in your actions, you forsake any defense which the status of "child" may bring. I've lived in a neighborhood just south of Utah Station since 2004, so I am well aware of the societal instability present to know that this young man's circumstances did not appear out of whole cloth. But no matter what those circumstances may be, his actions were criminal in nature, and he should bear responsibility for that. As should the owner.

If/when they re-open, I will be back to Utah Station, for either the Big Mak, or Utah Smash, and the delightfully crispy Cauliflower Bites.

Sláinte.

Amazing vegan junk food

You can get your junk food fix here. I visited about a year ago for a date. Was able to park on spot. Everything was greasy in a good way. I sometimes just think about this place and crave it! Servings could be a little larger. Place is almost 100% vegan but they do serve some meat options.

Pros: Almost 100% vegan, Satisfying junk food

Cons: Serves meat

Mostly vegan, tasty

This restaurant is like the inverse of a conventional restaurant: they have mostly vegan options, with a few meat options I guess to appease the meat-eaters. The fricken sandwich (crispy mock chicken), big mak, and nacho cheeze friez were quite good.

Pros: Very tasty, Mostly vegan

Awesome burgers!!

We had the fricken sandwich, the big mak, and the mac and cheese. The big mak was, by far, the best burger I've ever had!! It had a very unique taste that was pretty much undescribable. The fricken sandwich was pretty good as well... The cornflake coating kinda confused me but the taste was really good. The mac and cheese also had cornflakes. Would have been better without it but I still enjoyed it. We also had the risotto balls which were very good. We left stuffed and satisfied 😃 I would have rated it a 5 but everything came out in single serve dishware.

Pros: Cozy environment, great service, and mint water

Cons: Single serve dishware

My Favorite Restaurant!

Litterally everything here is delish! (only tried the vegan options)
The only downside is that they're often way over their heads with orders. I've been turned away or had to wait about an hour for food about half the time I've been. Order ahead if you can!

Pros: Delish!, Helpful and Kind Staff

Cons: Busy

Great food

It was so good, we went there twice during our visit to St Louis. Had the Big Mak and Roast Veef and Cheddar, both outstanding. Good flavors. Second visit went all out with poutine, Big Mak, and vegan pizza. Poutine gravy was fantastic, lots of thyme and rosemary. Pizza was best ever. Crust cooked perfectly and enough sauce to taste it. We’ll be back next time we’re in town. Staff was friendly. Place is in an old gas station and totally cute.

The best around

The best place around. I cannot even begin to say how delicious this food is. We tried so many things from their menu; Mac N Cheese, Fuggets, Poutin, Veef N Cheeda, Big Mak and their Freakin Chicken. My vegan kids cannot stop talking about good everything was, they especially enjoy the Gooey Butter Cake. This place is a must. Vegan or not. The food is cruelty free and absolutely delicious.

Pros: Unbelievably tasty vegan food and drinks

Cons: None other than I wish WE lived closer.

Hooray!

vegans like comfort foods too! Mmmm not health food, not raw, no smoothies, no yoga required! So good! I've never eaten most of the original versions of what I had at Utah Station, but am so happy to have had poutine and crack tacos and I will come back for a chance at the toasted raviolis! If they did late night delivery....

5 stars

I would give 5 stars but the app won't let me. 90% vegan menu, only like 2 non-vegan options, which are listed separately under a "meats" category

T-Ravs And Other Vegan Junk Food/Fast Food

I was very excited about this place opening as it has been on my radar for quite a while now. I was expecially pleased to see they would be including the Saint Louis favorite, toasted raviolis on their menu, which is a novelty vegan thing that as far as I know is not available anywhere else.
My husband and I split T-Ravs, vegan poutine, crack tacos, and a gyro. The service was fast and the ravioli was delicious. I will come back for those alone. I was not blown away by the other dishes, but as they seem to be going for fast-food style fare and in some cases actual replicas of fast food items, I think they did a decent job. I hope they expand their menu, and continue to tweak the current one (i.e. melted cheese on the food would be nice). I also hope someday this place goes fully vegan. Next time I plan on trying the Big Mac or the Beef and Cheddar (obviously with T-Ravs).

Pros: Has T-Ravs, Vegan Fast Food, Good Service

Very nice service. Good food. A bit on the pricey side for what you get but it’s worth it. I ordered the toasted ravs and crack tacos and felt content.

Pros: Mostly vegan menu, Tasty food

Cons: A bit pricey , Smaller portions

Perfect addition to the city!

My wife and I were excited to try Utah Station and it did not disappoint. The location was beautiful as the renovation to the mechanic shop was done very well. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty. We got the Big Mak (Big Mac), Crack Tacos (Jack in the Box style tacos), toasted ravioli and fries. The Big Mak and Tacos were fantastic vegan reproductions and the fries were very reminiscent of McDonald’s. We’ll definitely be back, and soon!

* I would have given it 5 stars but HappyCow wouldn’t let me because it’s not fully vegan.

Pros: A great vegan menu;, Friendly staff; and , Beautiful restaurant.

Cons: Not fully vegan.
