Excellent menu and food - Edit

The menu contains lots of vegan options, and the prices are very fair; some might end up building a two-dish dinner and for someone who eats quite an amount of food, this option can lave you very happy with both taste and quantity.

Pros: lots of vegan options, inexpensive dishes

Great food, great service - Edit

This place has been a well blessing to me in my first week of being a vegan. I study at queens so this place is really handy for me. Beyond that though, the food really is delicious and the staff are lovely. The vegan options are clearly marked on the menu which is helpful. Thank you umi.

Pros: Great food, Great service, Clearly marked vegan options

Cons: Limited options

Best Falafel You Will Ever Have - Edit

I've eaten a lot of falafel in my time from many places but this by far has to be the most delicious (and filling for that matter)! I had the palestanian falafel Sandwhich/ pitta pocket in the meal deal one which had wedges and a soft drink too! It was delicious and super cheap- one of the cheapest places I've ever found, cheaper than your bog standard canteen even! Lots of love for this falafel house! Menu has more vegan options than not vegan ones!!!!

Pros: almost all vegan apart from some meals have cheese, delicious will be the best falafel you will have , one word- tahini

Come in to watch gender studies students rush around.... - Edit

... doing service work while you peruse a small menu of Middle Eastern stuff. You'd better damn well like salad my friend as, like the nearby aptly named "falafel" restaurant, you'll be getting a lot of it with more or less everything you order. The set meals are quite good value and include a main wrap or pocket, side (potato wedges or, er... more salad IIRC) as well as a can o' pop for £7. They'd need to be as the place is competing with the mighty attractive power of BOOJUM. I'm starting to believe Boojums act a bit like the alien artifact markers in the Dead Space videogames. Oh, you can also go for the lentil soup.
The falafel, aka the protein part, is prepared well and actually pretty good. It beats "falafel" down the road in my opinion. The tables are modern and seating is tough to get at peak times. Not a bad place just not really amazing.

Pros: Good set menu, Plenty of protein

Cons: Plenty of salad, Hope you like pickled cucumbers

Dealing the meal - Edit

Army of bewildered students are the waiters. It reminds me of somewhere you'd eat at an airport, but the standardization does get you a decent, filling falafel at an OK price. The seven pound meal gets you a tin of cola, a wrap or pitta and some wedges that I smother in the tomato chilli garlic sauce as otherwise they are dry enough to be used as kindling.

Waiters can be off the ball, falafels are good, not sure if the "Palestinian" falafel is a political thing or not, wonder if they do an Israeli one? Better not kick that political football at lunchtime!!

Not a bad, but standardized, offering.

Pros: Tasty , Filling , Prompt, usually

Cons: Nose ring student staff spacing out , Don't like small groups having nice tables , Airport vibe

Very tasty veggie/vegan food - Edit

This place is great!
Its about time Belfast city centre had a decent veg only place!. Very tasty, quick food at a reasonable price. Big on flavour and portions.
Excellent spicy potatoes and I would highly recommend the Palestinian sandwich and Quinoa salad.
Fast, quick efficient service and great for lunchtime.
I really hope the standard stays the same

Pros: Entirely vegan/ veggie, Price is very reasonable, Good choice on menu

Cons: a little cramped in the restaurant when waiting

Absolutely Delicious - Edit

Visited for the first time today, Wednesday, 23 August 2017. I'd passed Umi Falafel a couple of times before but hadn't ventured in as it was quite busy and all the seating was taken. Today I was shown to a table and given a menu by a waitress, who took my order of a Palestinian Falafel, which was pocket Palestinian bread filled with hummus, tomato, falafels, fried aubergine, pickles, fresh parsley and a chilli-tahini sauce. This was one of the best thing I've ever tasted - absolutely delicious. I plan to return weekly to work my way through all the mezzes, salads, sandwiches and meals on the menu....
