BEEEEST!

I love Tien Sieng! Absolute greatest little Jay restaurant in the area. Their portions are good, the options are tasty and vary time to time, the mushroom legs are to die for, and the Khao Soi is only 30 baht and so, so tasty. I eat here almost every morning whenever I'm in CM.

Pros: Khao Soi!!!

Cons: Closed on Sunday

Not sure of some of the things if it's vegan

The food is cheap and there is lot of vegetables so I like it. Also proteins. But... I tried to ask if everything is without egg or not, and she said no egg in anything. Later when I was asking noodles, she wanted someone to say to me in English that there is egg. I appreciate she told me.

But one of the soy (?) Product looked like there may be egg in in also. There is a store at the restaurant, and there was a product that looked like the one I was eating. The listing of the ingrediants didn't say there is egg, but at the end it said "this products contains soybean, egg and wheat". It still said it's 100% vegan

And not even that it may contain..

So if you are ok maybe eating accidentally littlebit of egg, I can recommend this place.

And I appreciate that person did tell me when I accidentally was asking something that she knew had egg in it.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Not sure if theres egg or not

Super Cheap Vegan Meals + Grocery Shop

Tien Sieng is a true budget gem. The food is homemade, comforting, and fully vegan, with incredibly low prices. Plenty of choices, quick service, and a small plant-based shop attached where you can buy noodles, sauces, snacks, and mock meats. Ideal for travelers who want to eat well without spending much.

Delicious

The prices are so good and the food even better, or maybe the other way around? I'm not sure

Items contain egg

Definitely worth asking which mock meats contain egg. I had rice with a 3 options from the buffet for 45 baht, very cheap and quite tasty. Good value for money

Plenty of mock meat

We got there at 4 just before they close so the soup options weren’t available, just the buffet. I went with rice with a little bit of everything from the mock meat department. All for 40 baht. Love mock meat so this was perfect.

Pros: Price, Mock meat

Worth the risk?

A simple canteen style eatery with flavour-packed food. Load up your plate at the buffet for around only 40 baht. There are lots of both veggie and mock meat dishes to choose from, as well as a build-your-own soup option.

Unfortunately, not all the food is vegan despite being advertised as so. The เจ symbol on the door and ”plant-based” sign behind the counter are misleading. I had eaten here a couple of times before I realised this, after checking out the attached shop and noticing that several of the mock meats listed egg in their ingredients. I double checked with staff and they claimed simultaneously that the food is vegan and that it contains egg.

Personally, I will probably avoid eating here in the future, as the staff can’t guarantee what’s vegan and what’s not. At the very least, I’d avoid the faux meats and play it safe with their delicious mushroom stipe instead!

Pros: Very cheap 💸, Very tasty 😋

Cons: Unclear what is and isn’t vegan 🤔

Really affordable and good food!

This place is a really good place if you want quite a local and affordable experience! Buffet, where you can choose of a few options what you would like to eat. They have also a menu that consists few soups and khao soi. Would definitely recommend.

Superb!

Loved this vegetarian restaurant. It has a Jay restaurant where they sell freshly made dishes such as Khao Soi, rice with various dumplings, fried vegan sausage etc. The Khao Soi so good, amazing flavours. Also loved the rice with vegan red pork and duck. The buffet also looked quite tasty but we were already full by that time as the portions are generous. Very cheap as well, around 35-40 baht for a dish. Also sells some Jay snacks which are great when travelling! In the back is a vegetarian supermarket that sells mostly vegan products.

Pros: Cheap and really tasty, Spacious

It’s a restaurant, not a shop

First up, this ain’t a shop. It has a shop attached but is foremostly an eatery in the front. The shop is great however.

Pros: Cheap, Lots of choice, Friendly staff

So damn tasty

I had the Khao Soy here and it blew my mind away. Everything about it was so tasty, it was a decent sized portion and it was only 40 THB. Theres a free water fountain too and the staff are pleasant.
They do buffet too. I wanted to try another noodle dish but the back menu wasn't mega clear but I didn't mind and had the Khao Soy twice

BEST Khao Soi in Town

Tien Sieng is a mom and pop shop that serves up THE best vegan Khao soi that you’re going to find in Chiang Mai.

I came here twice during my trip and both times, this bowl of noodles did not disappoint. Flavorful, fragrant, with the right bit of kick to it. The mock meats are a nice touch and the broth was phenomenal.

For just 40 Baht, you’re not going to find a better deal than here for this amazing bowl.

Pros: Full veg options, cafeteria style

Best Cheap Lunch in Chiang Mai

One of my favourite discoveries since coming to South East Asia is the vegan Buddhist restaurants. The food is cheap and delicious plus they do a variety of proteins rather than just some bland tofu at an omnivorous restaurant. Tien Sieng is fronted by a group of smiling women that will dish up from the buffet or you can order from the menu. They also have a whole supermarket out the back where you can buy fake meats, teas and other treats. The ginger biscuits are a delight. I braved the 30-minute walk in the midday sun to get this delicious food many times. Complimentary water is provided too, so you don’t have to worry about plastic bottles.

Pros: Everything is vegetarian, Super cheap
