making penn station enjoyable

i've been eating cinnamon snail since the food truck days at the red bank farmers market. it has always been saucy, flavorful and delicious and i think chef adam sobel has upped his game even more for this residency at the pennsy. the sandwiches are amazing, and dare i say it, the donuts are even better than dun-well's. love love love.

Good Burgers

On vacation and I got both of their BBQ Seitan and Sage Seitan burgers; they were very delicious. BBQ was messy for me, a little bit with the Sage too. Spicy, but I loved them both. Would recommend The Cinnamon Snail!

amazing donuts, odd entree options

Every baked good they make is fabulous, it would be impossible to order something you didn’t like. Only complaint on the donuts is that very often they don’t make enough. They’re open 11-9 usually and by 3-4 most of the best donuts are gone. “Best” meaning the filled special ones of the day/week. The entrees I have never tried because they sound too crazy, a mix of too many flavors sounds like it would be overwhelming when you just want a burger or sandwich or soup.

Pros: Prices are fair and not crazy, best donuts I’ve ever had anywhere in the country

Cons: sell out too fast, make more!

not the best

The thanksgiving sandwich was ok but exreamly greasy. Wouldn't really rave about the donuts either. Not bad but definitely not amazing.

Not 100% celiac safe

The gluten free options were fantastic and so delicious! Unfortunately either the Thai BBQ tempeh sandwich with gf bread, or the gf rasberry donut glutened me.
(I did say I am celiac and it is not clear to me where the contamination came from.)

Pros: Great location for train travellers

Delicious Dessert

I went to Cinnamon Snail with mixed expectations based on its reviews. I was quite pleased with my experience. I only went to get dessert, so I'm not sure how their menu items are, but I would love to go back and try them sometime!

I went later in the day (around 7pm) and have to say the donuts I got were still fresh. One of them was a little on the greasy side, but it wasn't bad at all.

I'm not sure if this was a daily special or promotion, but when I was there all donuts were $2.25 and it was buy one, get one free! Of course I took advantage of this and got a ginger cookie donut and a pumpkin glazed with pecan crumble donut. Both were delicious! I had hoped to try the chocolate peanut butter one that I had seen many pictures of, but it wasn't available. Just another reason to go back 😜

Yummy and Kale

I visited this place thinking it was just vegan desserts and saw that they also serve savory foods. Really interesting take on street food with a vegan flare! I really enjoyed the food. They really love putting their marinated kale in everything. If you aren’t a fan of kale, then make sure to tell them!

Desserts are really good!! You have to try the cinnamon snail (AKA cinnamon roll)! You wouldn’t believe it’s vegan!

Pros: Good value, Quick service, Friendly

yummo

Delicious! We had the beastmode and smoked sage seitan burgers-- both were fantastic. A comfort food treat that does not disappoint! So great if you're stuck by Penn Station.

Yay!!

We were staying in a hotel nearby and got in late, so ran over to Cinnamon Snail to grab some provisions. It was the end of the day, so our choices were limited, but what we had was excellent! Will for sure come back earlier and try more. Wonderfully friendly staff and delicious food served quickly in a convenient location-what more could you want?!

Yummy but messy!

We took the bus to NYC and the Cinnamon Snail was only a few blocks from where we got dropped off so it was a no brainer that this was going to be the first place we ate. My fiance and I like to share food but I don't really recommend sharing sandwiches from Cinnamon Snail because the fillings are a bit mushy and when I tried to cut them in half, the fillings just smooshed out all over the place! They were very flavorful, but just a total mess to eat.

We got tater tots, too - I wasn't super impressed with those. Lots of breadcrumbs in the container, which was weird...The cheesy sauce was very lemony, not that cheesy.

Also - the Pennsy food hall was super crowded when we got there at lunch time (around 12:45) and we got very lucky when a table opened up in a corner by the bar. If you want to eat there instead of taking the food to go, try to avoid going during the lunch rush hours...

Cons: limited seating

Delicious Donuts

Love this place! The glass case at the counter displays many of the sweet and savory dishes, so you get a good feel for what you are ordering.

We had just had an awesome lunch elsewhere, and decided to come here for dessert and coffee. Loved both! Creme brulee and dark chocolate with peanut butter donuts, and Brewing Good coffee (Drink Coffee, Save Animals).

I was surprised how reasonable the prices were for NYC!

I'm looking forward to coming back to try the great variety of savory items.

Pros: Reasonable prices, Delicious sweets

A complete disappointment☹

This place was so disappointing! I had looked at their cookbook before and was so excited but the food was just bad. The Korean bbq just tasted like vinegar and was spicy but with no actual flavour. There donuts were dry and their coffee was the worst coffee I've had in a very long time. Stay away!!

Pros: none

Cons: bad food no space poor service

Alright

Cheesy tator tots were horrible. Very dry and the tots were way overdone. Didn’t know people could mess up tots. My boyfriend had the beast mode burger and he said it was good. We had a doughnut and the cinnamon snail. Both were okay. It tasted stale and a little hard but not terrible. Overall the meal was alright. It could have been a bad day due to the crowds but still disappointing.

An Unexpected Gem

After arriving at Penn Station, I needed to find a quick lunch. I looked up vegan places in the area, and saw the rave review of Cinnamon Snail. I am SO glad I checked it out! I ordered the Maple Mustard-glazed Tempeh sandwich, and it was absolutely incredible. Toasty bread, fresh kale and tomato, perfectly cooked tempeh, and delicious sauces. Would hands down go back again. Yum!

P.S. The desserts looked awesome too.

Pros: Convenient, Fast, Delicious

High expectations, low outcome

We got a sandwich that was like “thanksgiving dinner”, with stuffing and cranberry sauce and kale and it was soooo greasy. it was dripping with oil. the flavour itself was alright but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. we also got a couple donuts and they were decent.. tasted a little too doughy in my opinion and not enough flavour.

GOOD food that happens to be vegan

Hearty, cozy comfort food options for veggie-foodies. The signature Cinnamon Snail cinnamon role is a tasty treat that even a non-veggie would love!

Pros: Everything is vegan

great vegan food in the middle on NYC

The place is very popular, did not even recognize it was vegan food initially. Very tasty and good choice of different food! Great surprise to find this next to Penn station
